One of the kitchens I worked in used cast iron as a back up when the
griddle failed.

The primary advantages of cast iron are indestructibility and even heat
distribution. Those can useful characteristics.

I use primarily no-stick stuff, but I get annoyed with the durability
issue. Sometimes I want to be able to use a nice this metal spatula. On
those occasions I'd like to have a cast iron pan, but not with my current
stove, which just sucks. Cast iron and gas stoves are a nice
combination.

Put a cast iron pan on a gas flame for a few bit, and then
put some water in the pan.

You can see the pattern of the burner below.

There may be virtues of cast iron, but I would not put "even
heat distribution" on the list.

Ummm, if the rules say no riding on the bridge, then the lanes are probably
too narrow for cars to pass you safely. Are you seriously saying that you're
being treated like a second class citizen because you're expected to follow
the rules? Do you really think that you should be allowed to ride in the
road when cars cannot safely pass? If so, then you're begging to be hit, or
you think you should be allowed to inconvenience all the people in cars who
will be unable to pass you while on the bridge. I only ride on the bike
path, since all the roads here are FAR too busy. What's wrong with you?

Sorry, but you should have asked how many lanes there were and how
much traffic there was before you sided with Goliath...

There were two lanes each way, with only light traffic. Saturday
morning, remember? It's bicycle day out there, kind of.

But, YES, I'm stating cyclists in America are second class citizens.
Worse, it's not only their dignity, but their own survival that is
threaten.

I was first TAKING THE LANE (sitting wherever I want in the bus) and
the police waved me to move over. Other cyclists were either walking
their bikes or riding them on the sidewalk, meaning they were OK in
the eyes of the police. ("Do what you want, just don't bother cars.")

Second I was blasted by another vehicle while still taking the lane.
And then the third incident came when I moved to the right, but the
guy thought I didn't have the right to be there either.

Something funny happens though. The more you move to the right, the
more they squeeze you. It's a power game, I believe, where only the
strong (read SUVs and cars) survive.

so, what do the laws in your state/county/city say? here, a cylcist has to
be as far to the rt as is safe. most places prohibit riding bikes on the
sidewalks; they're for pedestrians.

Can bicyclists run red lights as well in your neck of the woods, and
are immune to all rights of way and so forth?

I swear to Crom that its considered a mortal sin by bike riders to

Not at all. However I was referring to the problems drivers seemed to have
with the OP in overtaking him on a bridge with 2 lanes to choose from. Over
here, overtaking vehicles are required to keep clear.

Are they not in the USA?

As of 21h04 this evening, the Nymex Henry Hub price is $10.12 per
MMBtu, double the front-month close price of just eight months ago.
What's more significant is that inventory levels are continuing to
fall at a time when they normally rise in preparation for the summer
power generation draw-down; that suggests natural gas prices will be
under even more pressure in the months to come.
