No one is saying foam the world. Or maybe you would rather rat poison
look like candy bars, or
ammonia look like juice pack of lemonade?

Or maybe companies should stop being so damn cheap, and pack
dangerous substances in packaging that would not be mistaken for food
or drink, esp by kids.

I know I almost mistook cleaning fluids as a drink a couple times in
my life (thankfully, I always check the
container before consuming whats in it). In fact, I have a bottle of
"generic Pine-Sol" cleaner right now that looks
exactly like a sports drink; if it weren't for the label people would
think it was.

I imagine there were plenty of incidents where someone was busy, or
otherwise distracted, and reached for a container that looks like it's
holding food, and accidentally took a mouthful of the dangerous non-
food contents inside.

Or worse,a kid who can't read yet takes a hold of the product.

The person might have lost their sense of taste or smell

If you aren't careful about what you're putting in your mouth,
it's not my job to protect you from natural selection. And it's
certainly not the government's job.

Bing, bing, bing, we have a winner. Any person, child or adult, who
can't
read a label should not be left alone unsupervised. Any person who
confuses
a sports drink from the fridge with a cleaning product from the
cabinet
under the sink needs a visit from Uncle Chuck (Darwin).

I just logged into my Ebay account, and saw an ad "UK for 5c", implying
that now you can pay extra so that people who aren't in the USA will see
your listing.

Is this for real?

I've always thought that listings could be searched by anyone across the
globe. Now they are saying that is something we have to pay extra for?

People in the UK can look at the American ads. But that there is also
a UK listing section (and European, etc). Just like Amazon.com has a
seperate website for the UK version. Paying the extra fee would simply
get your ad posted in that section as well. If you aren't looking to
sell your stuff overseas, then it wouldn't be worth it. If you have
something that you think would sell well there, it might be worth a
shot.

Earlier versions of MS Office will work just as well (maybe better -
some people don't like Office 2007). I have Office 2000 and it is
fine. I used it on my Win98 machine up until last month when I
transferred it over to my new WinXP system. On eBay it looks like it's
selling for $30-$70.

I still have copies of Office starting from 97 up to 2007; the
companies I've worked for over the past 10 years have all had
"employee deals" where we could get Office anywhere from free to $30.
I even found an Office suite for Mac at the thrift store a couple of
weeks ago for $4. As my latest challenge is reviving recently adopted
iMac G3's...that was a very cool find, indeed.

I don't usually ask others for stock advice, but thought it would be fun
to see what others out there think right now. I'm in a position to pick a
couple of stocks as investments in my IRA, and I like to use a value
approach. In other words, I look for companies that are currently out of
favor, or that the market has sold off more than would seem to be warranted,
given long term prospects for the company.

I just loaded up on a couple of inexpensive big pharma stocks, and would
like to balance those out with stocks from other sectors. Anyone have any
suggestions for an undervalued stock that is likely to bounce back at least
20% over the next couple of years? (preferably one with little or no debt,
and a stock price that is less than 10x cash flow)

Thanks!

This is a great time to swap traditional IRA funds into Roth funds -
provided the funds don't move you into a higher tax bracket.

Any rebound (ah, actually growth, since the market has been essentially
flat since the day GW took office) will be tax free.

I second that, especially if you don't live in the Southwest, or if you
live anywhere that has numerous cloudy days.

Due to the higher efficiency of solar water heating panels, you can get
good returns even in places like Ohio, where solar panels don't make much
sense. (at current efficiency ratings anyway) Even on cloudy days, there is
often enough solar radiant energy to heat water for showers, etc.

Of course, the very best way to make an investment that pays for itself
is to build an underground or earth banked house. This gives you passive
heating and cooling, using the earth itself as a massive heatsink. In the
case of an earth banked house, it can also be relatively inexpensive, since
you just have a plain wall without many of the usual expensive exterior
options.

One of my labs is terrified of thunder or thunder-like noises. We don't
react to them, of course, but she still reacts. She was like this when she
showed up at our house. She's not unlearning the fear, either, as I had
hoped. I end up having to cuddle her in my lap as she is shivering and
whining.

My mold consultant told me it was necessary to heat the house to at
least 65 to prevent the growth of mold. (Humidity should be no more
than 55%, though in winter it seems to hover in the high 30%s and low
40%s.)

I have baseboard hot-water heat, and both he and a contractor told me
it operates most efficiently if the thermostat keeps the same setting
24/7.
