Hello to the group,
Is anyone still here? I have a question. My daughter got a letter
from Tums America to do a mystery shopping thing. The letter included
a check for almost $3000. In the letter is a breakdown of what it is
for and the assignment was to cash the check and then go to western
union and send the money to some guy in Spain. What is the scam?
There has to be one because she never solicited this from
anyone...hasn't joined any mystery shopper sites, etc.
Dawn, wanting an answer for her kid.

Its a check on an account that they have no right to use.

No, everyone moved away when the frugal discussion disappeared.

This isn't a frugal issue, at best it's a consumer issue, and really it's
a scam issue.

You deposit the check, thinking it's good, then withdraw money to send
to the address. Then the check bounces, and you're stuck with the loss
of your money that you sent the person.

This is the Nigerian Scam. It doesn't matter that it's done by mail,
it doesn't matter that no Nigerians are involved. It's the very same
scam.

Michael

The problem is more that not enough of the floor thickness
gets to a high enough temperature during the day.

I have that approach in my house, with lots of concrete floor
heated by the sun thru 8 big patio doors on the sunny side and
while they are quite warm when the sun is shining on them,
they get quite cool quite quickly when the sun goes off them.

Even if you had say solar water heaters you wont find that they
will have enough heat in the water to keep the greenhouse warm
enough right thru the night unless you have a hell of a lot of water
and the associated solar water heating panels, particularly as
you are further north than is ideal.

The orginal topic for this was fabric softener so I simply raved about a
water softener in that context. There are differening debates about the
health of water softeners but that doesn't fit into the topic of softer
fabrics.

I swear by water softeners for washing of clothing, and showering/bathing.
It's simply much easier on clothes and skin and require far less soap and
lathering to accomplish cleaning.

I'm in north Halton area of Ontario Canada. Most people here have water
softeners.

And no I \don't think you are from a backward country (or County even...)
