while the numbers might look to be larger their value hasn't changed

Wrong if he would otherwise have pissed that money against the wall instead.

What a silly question, there's absolutely no topic on which Rod is not
an expert.

I certainly don't know of any. Let me know if you find one. I have been a
satisfied Onesuite customer since Feb, 2002. Except for one outage, service has
been reliable and trouble-free.
The "trouble" with post-paid services, such as Powernet, is that they must
collect Federal taxes and surcharges, at the least. In addition, most sneak in
sundry fees and mystery (free money) charges. Using the Powernet example, ignore
the puffery page and pay particular attention to the FAQ:
http://www.powernetlongdistance.com/powernetglobal_faq.htm

and to the sample bill:
http://www.powernetlongdistance.com/PNGbill.pdf
Powernet is just a typical example that was handy; they're all cut from the same
bolt.
Some disadvantages to Onesuite's prepaid service, for example, are that
billing is in whole minute decrements, one must make a $10.00 minimum purchase
each 180 days, and (I infer from NG posts that) service is variable, depending
on ones location. OTOH: Unused minutes accumulate, it offers two-tiered rates
(local dialaround numbers have lower rates than 1-800 numbers), outgoing VoIP
billed at local dialaround rates ("free" softphone), low-priced incoming VoIP.
I'm sure that other prepaid L/D providers (GetPIN, for example) must offer
comparable products/services.
Unless you are determined to give the gummint and the phoneco money for
nothing in exchange for perceived convenience, you might reconsider prepaid
services.

Hmm, that's a bummer. A few years ago when I had them, they didn't have
the $0.99 "Telecom Infrastructure Fee", which is essentially a $0.99
monthly fee. I truly owed nothing if I made no calls, and only a little
if I made only a few. So that aspect has gotten worse. (On the other
hand, they do now have lower per-minute rates than they did then.)

Contact Wal-Mart HQ and ask.

Why don't you say to the person in front of you that since you have 10 items
or less do you mind if you could cut in front of them as you do have 10
items or less and this is the 10 items or less lane.

That should get the attention of the discourteous person. I suspect the
cashiers are instructed to ignore the customers that do not pay attention to
the sign.

To some, life insurance seems like an unnecessary expense. But if you
have people who depend on you -- and your income -- you need it. The
purpose of life insurance is to take care of your dependents. As such,
it's an important part of your financial plan. How much life insurance
do you need?

That depends on your cell phone. I used to have a lousy cell phone and
if it was the only one I used, I would agree with you. Now, I use a Palm
Treo 700p and the audio quality is as good as my landline phones at home
and work. I don't use a headset, but I do use my cell phone's
speakerphone feature when I can't hold the phone, such as when I am
driving, and it works fine.

In my limited experience with cell phones, they have sounded better than
cordless phones. Nowadays, I think most landline conversations use
cordless phones. I've used several models over the last twenty years
and have never liked the fidelity.

I don't recall the problem with corded phones. In fact, I resort to my
cheap corded phone for maximum clarity although it's less convenient
than a cordless. People I call may get a name wrong until I spell it
with the phonetic alphabet, so I'm not the only one who has trouble.

Talking computer-computer with Gizmo VoIP is a pleasure because it's
clearer than cordless phones in my experience.
