Give the phone to your 4 year old, if you are lucky enough to have one.

Select call forwarding allows you to forward calls from certain
numbers and only those numbers. Have their calls forwarded to a

What fun is that? Bill collectors use several numbers. Forward call from
XYZ to another one of XYZs phone numbers. Let them call themselves. -Dave

I had a room mate once who was getting calls almost every day. When
they would call he would pretend to be another person and say "that SOB
skipped out on two months rent. Tell you what, give me your number and
if I find out where he is I will let you know and if you track him down
you can tell me"

For us, we can spend some time and not money by harvesting the dead trees on
our property for the wood stove. Last year we were able to barter almost a
year's worth of wood for 4 days of labor with a logger and sugar maker. I
know not everyone has access to this sort of thing. But it can help to think
outside the box a bit.

FedEx ground is the worst. It might be their procedures, it might just be a
moron driver. This doofus leaves packages in the middle of the driveway
because "People want to find their stuff when they get home from work."
Okay. However, since I work at home, my parcels are addressed to a business,
there is a separate business door with a sign and a covered porch, how about
leaving the boxes there? There's a sign on all four doors of my home
indicating that packages should be left on the business door porch (first
doorway you come to). No other carrier (including FedEx overnight) has any
problem leaving packages on the porch, since it's the easiest, closest, and
logical place. FedEx ground, however, persists in leaving stuff in the
middle of the uncovered driveway. I just love finding a sopping wet package
after 3-4 days. According to the local FedEx office, the driver isn't doing
anything wrong. Apparently it's ok to just pull into my semi-circular
driveway, slow down, toss out the package, and then continue on to the next
delivery. I actually saw the guy do that once - he didn't even come close to
a complete stop. Once, when the garage door was open (I was unloading
groceries and the guy must have come while I was inside), a package was
tossed underneath the car and I didn't find it until after I'd run it over
the next time I went out. FedEx ground sucks.

Are you sure your wife bought the normal size? Most microwave popcorn
now is sold in two sizes. The bigger is large enough for two people to
share, but they also sell small bags, just right for a snack for one
person.

Oh, and you should get a microwave with a popcorn button, if you enjoy
microwave popcorn. Our microwave pops both sizes of popcorn,
perfectly. One button, no guessing at time. -Dave

How do those popcorn buttons work? Do they listen for popping?

From expert reviews I've read of some microwaves, I gather that the
auto-cook functions have some kind of humidity sensor, which would make
sense. That is, the food gets warm, humidity level increases inside the
microwave...someone did the measurements and math and determined that X food
was just right at Y humidity level...

From experience of hundreds of bags of popcorn popped, I can tell you that
the popcorn button (if your microwave has one) should work great. Ours
does. It is a Kenmore brand microwave, manufactured by LG
Goldstar). -Dave

Why not refrigerate everything?

I live in an apartment and the fridge is supplied by
the landlord but on the small side to say the least.

However, I've been thinking abt buying a small freezer
to supplant the fridge and give me the ability to store
more foods in bulk. I live alone so don't need a HUGE
freezer..... maybe 7 cu foot.

But I had what may be and even better idea.... what
would be wrong with refrigerating EVRYTHING except can
goods?

I could buy another fridge with built in freezer and
get additional freezer space..... but also get
additional fridge space where I could store boxes of
cereal, oatmeal, and other things you normally don't
think abt storing in a fridge.

What you think abt my idea? Do many out there put
things in a fridge that doesn't normally go in
there..... granola bars, cereals, breads?

Or am I best to just buy a small freezer ONLY and
forget abt the extra fridge space?

TOPIC: Air Fresheners Can Poison the Air Around You

==============================================================================

From: Dave

Prof. Anne Steinemann of the University of Washington recently
performed a study of top-selling laundry products and air fresheners.
She found the products emitted dozens of different chemicals; in fact,
all six products tested gave off at least one chemical regulated as
toxic or hazardous under federal laws.

Oddly enough, those chemicals were not listed on the product labels!

"People were telling me that the air fresheners in public restrooms
and the scent from laundry products vented outdoors were making them
sick," said Prof. Steinemann, a UW professor of civil and
environmental engineering. "And I wanted to know what is causing these
effects.'"

It was then that she discovered a surprising number of potentially
toxic chemicals, including acetone, the active ingredient in paint
thinner and nail-polish remover; limonene (a molecule with a citrus
scent) and acetaldehyde, chloromethane and 1,4-dioxane.

"Nearly 100 volatile organic compounds were emitted from these six
products, and none were listed on any product label. Plus, five of the
six products emitted one or more carcinogenic 'hazardous air
pollutants,' which are considered by the Environmental Protection
Agency to have no safe exposure level at all," Steinemann said.

Her study was published online last week by the journal "Environmental
Impact Assessment Review." Steinemann chose not to disclose the brand
names of the six products she tested. In a larger study of 25
cleaners, personal care products, air fresheners and laundry products,
now submitted for publication, she found that many other brands
contained similar chemicals.

Manufacturers of consumer products are not required to disclose their
ingredients. All these items were household items purchased at a
grocery store, in addition to samples of industrial products that were
requested of supplier companies.

In the laboratory, each product was placed in an isolated space at
room temperature and the surrounding air was analyzed for volatile
organic compounds, small molecules that evaporate from the product's
surface into the air.

Results showed 58 different volatile organic compounds above a
concentration of 300 micrograms per cubic meter, many of which were
present in more than one of the six products. For instance, a plug-in
air freshener contained more than 20 different volatile organic
compounds. Of these, seven are regulated as toxic or hazardous under
federal laws. The product label lists no ingredients, and information
on the Material Safety Data Sheet, required for workplace handling of
chemicals, lists the contents as "mixture of perfume oils."

The European Union recently enacted legislation requiring products to
list 26 fragrance chemicals when they are present above a certain
concentration in cosmetic products and detergents. No similar laws
exist in the United States.

What a putz you are "Clams." There are a zillion "Nike shoes for less"
posts on your forum and you object to an article of interest to
anyone, just because it has a link to other articles? There are no
ads, no commercial sponsors, and no agenda's other than to spread
health information. Good luck finding a spam element to that.
