you are right about the electric heater for a room in cold climates..
heat pumps fade fast below 35F outside temps .. or so.

re the wife, maybe you can tell her she looks hot in thick socks, long
pants and heavy sweaters..

She does look hot no matter how she's dressed, and knows it.
Trouble is, she don't care!
She just wants to cook and do dishes without shivering or sweating.
And I can't sweet talk her out of that, as much as I've tried.

Makes you wonder why people are so petty.
In a residential neighborhood I lived in on the north side of Chicago
a family - never met them - had 6 or 7 chickens running around their
fenced front yard. I thought somebody would complain and they'd be
quickly gone, but they were there for at least a couple years until
I moved. I liked seeing them there myself.

I first used "MUTE" years ago when some tout services got my
number.Polite requests to stop, threats of legal action and cursing all
were to no avail. They often called back within seconds after
I hung up. Finally I began to hut "MUTE" when the canned pitch started"

"So,George, what credit card would you like to use?"
"Hello,George,are you there?"
"God damn it, I gave this guy my A material and he walked away from
the phone"

Another one is gibberish:

"No speak English"
"Habla espanol?"
"prosrty eevantey frobjika mieeryok?"

At Costco my wife got one of our regular items, a 32 pack of microwave
popcorn. I popped one and it seemed not to pop up, so I popped it until
it burned and I threw it away.

I popped a second one. When it came out, it was also puny, but then I
noticed the bag was fully puffed. They have decreased the size.
Besides being effectively a price hike, it's annoying because if I cook
the smaller ones for the normal amount of time they burn.

I have bought from Puritan regularly and the
shipments came via UPS. My porch is shaded, about
30' from the street, and the parcels are always
left there. I never had any problems with either
company. Why the heck do you insist on signatures?
This can greatly delay the delivery, especially
when waiting for a response to a knock or ring, or
when nobody is home.

Why not provide a shaded delivery box or, if you
are that fussy, then why not pick up your parcel
from UPS?
