It's an overclocked computer, and maybe the builder didn't consider
noise. In that case, easy improvements may be possible.

Fan design can have a big effect on noise. I had a computer that came
with an 80mm, 25cfm intake fan that produced 40dBA. Some owners made
their computers much quieter by replacing this fan with an 80mm Sanyo
fan rated at 23cfm and only 20dBA. That's like somebody whispering five
feet away.

The fan cost $10 or so. Installation was merely a matter of unscrewing
the cover from the computer and releasing some plastic catches.

Another computer had a cover that picked up vibrations from the hard
disk. I quieted that by jamming some spongy material between the frame
and the cover to dampen vibrations.

Craigslist is great for heavy items (items too costly to mail) and/or
items that really need to be observed before buying (especially
electronics), but has a very limited field of potential buyers.

Conversely, eBay will take about 20% of the gross selling price, but it
provides a significantly greater field of potential buyers that
typically results in higher selling prices (usually more than enough to
offset the fees - provided the items are easily mailable).

Correct on both counts.

I've sold some things on Craig's List that aren't easily shipped, but
I'm not real thrilled the process. I always list my prices as firm,
cash only, with a requirement the item be picked up by the buyer.
Every time I'll hear from people who want to negotiate the price, want
me to deliver it, or want to pay with a check or money order (not
likely!). No shows for pickups, and tales of woe to get the price
knocked down once they do show up. I stick to my guns, and have sold
everything, but have had to jump through those hoops at least two or
three times on every listing. I've just about decided the hassle
isn't worth it, and will start donating that stuff to charity for the
tax deduction.

On the other hand I've found eBay to be seamless. I always set a
reasonable reserve, plus that 20% you mentioned. I accept only
PayPal, and ship only via USPS insured Priority Mail to confirmed U.S.
addresses. I also list all sales as final (no buyer's remorse) and
the only warranty I make is that it works when it arrives. So far,
I've sold everything, always for more than the reserve, a couple of
times by quite a bit. I've got nothing but satisfied buyers, and have
yet to have a problem.

If you're selling stuff that's in good condition, is usable for it's
intended purpose, and has enough value that you don't want to just
give it away, eBay is definitely the way to go.

This nation is not found by white. No white people possibly
discover the land
already existed for some other people, culture, langauge they didn't
tie to.
People were already here when European invaded to this land. I would
never
assume this land belonging to white people. They are the invaders from
Europe.

Thanks for the suggestion, but get real!

The items are almost always NOT cheap and the only item of its kind in
the store!

If you really think buyers have a choice and you want to CONTRIBUTE to
the subject-tell us where we can buy the quality AMERICAN MADE product
with a good warranty.

In theory that's sort of true. However if you didn't care for the
product that fails you still have it; the title should have been
changed to "how to do a return a failed product past the warranty
time". You're still out the money you paid.

Along those lines I always enjoyed the hard drive failure (3 year
warranty) that happened just shortly before that 3 years was up since
the company would no longer have that 20GB HD, you get a considerably
bigger one to replace it.

I didn't say anything about American made vs foreign products, I said buy
better quality products. I don't buy much in the way of the items on the
example list, but my digital camera is several years old and working same as
always, my computer older yet and still going strong, ditto for small
household appliances like microwave, food chopper, etc. I shop for price,
like everyone else, but price isn't just the initial cost, and I don't see
any point in buying something so flimsily made that it won't last 6 months.
Some things, like a cigarette lighter plug-in cell phone charger, seem
pointless to me regardless of cost or quality on a couple of counts - I can
charge my phone at home every day if I need to, and my car doesn't have a
cigarette lighter.

And if it wont fail when required, it isnt hard to kill it undetectably.

Yup. Somebody wants to burglarize my house? Let'em come. That's why
I pay all that money to my insurance company every year. And if I'm
home when they come in, or I get home while they're still there, we're
gonna be all over the news for a couple of days.

I own very "things" that have such sentimental value they can't be
replaced. Those few items fit in my safe deposit box, which is where
they are, along with all of my family's important papers (social
security cards, birth and death certificates, military records,
insurance policies, household inventory, etc, et al). Family photos
and historical documents have been scanned and are stored with an
online storage service, as well as on discs in the aforementioned safe
deposit box. Wouldn't want to lose the originals, but if I do at least
I have the copies.

Truth is, I've got a few things at home that I wish someone would
steal. I'd rather have the money. Any takers?
