That was generally considered the best consumer-level dot matrix printer in
the late 80's, and really did a fine job. As a totally off-topic anecdote: I
remember going to purchase it at one store - Comp USA? - and then going
elsewhere because they were giving a free Panasonic bicycle with each printer!
(I don't ride low end bicycles). One guy had five bicycles strapped atop his
car.
There's utterly no need for most folks to have a dot matrix printer these
days, but for someone printing multi-part forms it would stll be valuable. It
wouldn't hurt to throw it on your local CraigsList, if you're in a big enough
area where the Computer listings get a lot of traffic.
I can appreciate your reluctance to trash it; I think we all have stuff that
we'll never use again but just intuitively seems to have some value.

I've had one for about 3 years now. My wife & I both like it a lot. Motion is
not transmitted across the mattress like with innerspring types, and it remains
very comfortable with no sign of sagging.
I don't know the current pricing. More regular and discount mattress stores are
carrying them now, so you should be able to get some good deals. Of the 3 price
levels of the Tempurpedic that were available when we bought, the middle one
suited us best.
Don't know about your interpretation of the warranty... I don't recall anything
like that.

I have had mine for 8 years and love it. It is excellent in several ways.
It is hypo-allergenic, impervious to water, insects (like mites) or sagging.
It is as flat today as the day I got it. The adjustable feature is
wonderful, and I can tilt the back or knees to any position I find
comfortable. Mine is a queen size and I paid $2500. Considering what I
paid for other mattresses in the past and how saggy they got in a short
time, this was actually a very frugal choice.

My daughter's cats and mini-dachshund have eaten dry food (probably Kirkland)
all their lives. She fills up one of those feeders that holds a gallon or so
whenever it's enpty. The animals are healthy, but the dog has a bit of extra
weight due to shared snacks with the grandspawn.
This goes against everything I've ever heard about dog-feeding --
"No matter how much you give them they'll eat it all RIGHT NOW". The dog
nibbles just like the cats. She'd be happy as a vegetarian and loves carrots,
fruit, broccoli, peanut butter...
I've also understood that the "affection" shown by cats is just marking the
producer of the food as theirs. Since these cats are fed by some miraculous
ever-generous invisible god, any friendliness would seem to be genuine. 3 of
the cats are extremely friendly and one is kind of shy, but eventually warms up.

Fuji isn't Chinese. And I'm still using Fuji C-cells that expired in
2005 (what can I say, they were a good deal and I overbought).
I actually haven't found Chinese batteries to be much different from
US batteries. Maybe a bit more likely to leak. But half the price.
Duracells might be worth it for survival gear, but not around the house.

WTF? Did you look below? Do you need this spoon fed to you? You

You knew that there was such a category. Why are you denying that housing
costs are part of CPI? Is tis some kind of quibble about their
statistical methods?

Since some things are overpriced and others are underpriced there
can't be a simple recession or depression but rather an ongoing
up and down of costs in all markets. Each effects the other
directly and sometimes indirectly but often at *different times*.
Nothing is in synch.
But there is long term trend: Due to the hyped, manipulated bubble
markets and the general inflationary spending trend these past
twenty years, prices on food and commodities will trend upwards while
prices of real property will go down.
It will take about as long for things to sort out as it took to
create the chaos so beware indicators signaling that an end is near.

At the end of the day there is only the surety that supply and demand
will eventually determine value. But until ALL inflated areas have
deflated and ALL deflated areas have inflated, there can't be price
stability and it is stability that gives the buyer confidence.
In the meantime we can determine local values through food coops and
bartering.
