I still have 3 cans in the fridge from when my kids wanted to make
bubbly jello. I believe it was Shasta brand club soda.

I don't drink carbonated beverages of any sort any more - lost my taste for
them. But in the old days, I had a seltzer bottle.

They have cases of cans of Vintage (Vantage?) seltzer in Shop-Rite here
(NJ) all the time.

Where is "here" for you? Maybe it's a regional thing.

along with its price on eBay, I copped a relatively low-end Insignia.
Didn't fool with the coupon. With my middle-of-the-road Radio Shack
antenna (new in '08) at 25' and an inexpensive powered in-line rf
amplifier my low-end Insignia does quite well on my Goodwill teevee. I
live in a area where aerial reception has always been problemmatical
but, during the past 15-or-so years has been further degraded by urban
development between me and the antenna farm. I get better reception than
I did with a low-end Wally World SD analog/digital teevee and the same
(literally, the same) antenna setup.

Because not everyone has a converter.

Consumer Reports reviewed DTV converters.

Look for features you might want:

-- does it have a program guide? (some do, some don't, some are
better than others)

-- does it have a VCR timer? This means you can program it to switch
channels automatically at certain times to use it with a VCR to record
shows on different channels.

-- does it have S-video output if your TV has S-video inputs. A
friend of mine said he compared the picture using two different cables
and S-video was noticeably better (he was using the ChannelMaster dtv
converter box).

That was the case in New Hampshire, maybe still is. Way back when, you
didn't even have to post a bond, unless you had an accident. And even then,
if the person you hit/injured signed a waiver, you got a free pass.

I had occasion last year to spend one night in the hospital for some minor
surgery - went home the next day. The bill came to $100k and change. I
think you'd be nuts to leave yourself open to paying those kinds of bills by
foregoing insurance, legal or not.

This depends entirely on the laws in your state. I have a very wealthy
friend (millions of dollars) and he self-insures. Check with your
state's insurance department or motor vehicles department to see what
they say. You can probably find this information online with a few mouse
clicks.

Makes sense. Get yourself, stuff, and passengers in the car, buckle up, and

buckle up.

I also make my own ice cream - I know what's in it, it's not much trouble,
and I make only a portion at a time so I don't overeat the stuff. The
hardest part of it all was finding a **small* ice cream maker.

Not defending eating that much, but I have downed a half-gallon of
Hershey's Moose Tracks in one sitting.

BTW, Hershey's Ice Cream (not affiliated with Hersheys Chocolate Co.)
still comes in a half-gallon container.

From all I read oil is still bouncing off all time lows not seen in years,
yet where I live(South SF Bay Area) gas prices hit a low of $1.69 a gallon
in mid-December and are now at $2.22 a gallon tow month later.

So what's up? This is close to a 25% rise in two months and while I know
it's not the $4.49 a gallon we were dealing with during the summer, it's not
$140 a barrel oil either.
All I read is low demand for fuel and the refinery storage facilities have
no room left, supply and demand says prices should still be well below $ a
gallon, at least around here.

Just wondering if others have seen similar increases where they live and if
they have an idea what's going on.

I fill up my 2008 Prius once every other week. I keep a log in an Excel
spreadsheet of my gas fill ups and other costs for my car. I have notice
the price per gallon going up slowly over the past few months here in
NJ. I suppose there's greater demand for gas. Increased demand is what
helped to push the cost per gallon up to the $4.00 range and lower
demand is what pushed the price per gallon down.

There is no nice tidy time, they get worse the longer you keep them in the freezer.

Yes, it is. but no body want's to talk about it.
Digital is supposed to solve all the world's problems.
When you have multipath problems with analoge, you
get ghosting, with digital, the picture breaks up.

Having just had to work through three insatallations with
severe multipath issues, I can definitly say: It's a problem.

Don't be a prick, Rod. I know that's like telling the sun
not to shine, but try.

My friend and I are engineers. You are an uneducated welfare boy.
We were out at his home with a directional antenna and a
professional RF signal strength meter. We stood there and
swung the antenna around and could identify all the multi
path sources. Then, with a cheap dipole antenna, we erected
grounded metal screens to block the multi paths (just for
experimental purposes. I'm not suggesting this as a perminent
solution) The effect was quite noticable. When we installed the
log-periodic antenna, we could choose the signal path and
reception was much better. So don't tell me that DTV isn't
suseptable multipath. I have first hand experience that it
is.
