I can only ans one question I have sirius for the home. I put the antenna
up, must be unobstructed.
I used a cheap radio about 7 dollar from Walmart as the receiver. I just
turn the Sat. reciever, sirius, in my case, just sit that near the antenna
of the radio, find the channel on the radio where the sound is transmitted.
It is the best thing I have in the house I like this better than the TV.
In fact I seldom turn the TV on except for some PBS programs in the evening.
Now, if you have a bunch of
money I would get it for the car and house. It is worth it for the old time
radio shows, alone. All kinds of music, all kinds of talk radio and sports.
you need an antenna for the car and seperate one for the house, the set up
is different. I never knew anything about the system, I had no problem at
all. There will be interruptions, you can handle it, I'm sure. 50 up
front to get service, 12 a month, cheap enough because it is my main
entertainment. or was, until i got the laptop Radio Shack can educate you,
or whatever business you like on further options, I'm sure

A few years back at another location, we had an option on our cable for
the music & as you pointed out, we used that much more than the TV (we
only took the very basic TV coverage since we had little interest in
sports, etc, but needed some cable due to very poor over-air reception.)
. We were recently at a friends home who has the extended HD network
with the cable music. It reminded us of how much we liked that option.

I'm hoping I can simply move the unit between docking stations for
driving trips & if I'm understanding it correctly, they have a 50
channel / a la carte option for just $7/mo. If so, for $100/yr, we'll
get much more out of it than we would the TV part of cable. If there is
a set-up charge, I can live with that. There are only about a dozen
stations of high interest for us, but it will be nice having it again..

I've has XM for several years at home. I love it. Listen to classical and
jazz. But there's tons of other stuff available. I've not found good
world news so listen to NPR news on FM.

I use the little antenna (an inch or so square) supplied with the radio.
I live in a mobile home and it sits next to an east-facing window. Works
just fine there.

I agree that at some point, maybe $20k/yr., it costs more to tax them
than to ignore them.

>Now, if the rich had taken their tax reduction and invested it in
>creating jobs in the USA, the unemployment rate would be lower,

Its their money, its not your money, its their business what they do
with it, its NOT your business what they do with it.

Rich people are the source of venture capital in America. Venture
capital in America almost always finds its way to lending institutions
and then to the creation of small businesses which ARE THE PRIMARY
source of hiring in America.

Your premise is dead wrong.

>But they invested in making foreign jobs instead
>that put even more Americans on the welfare dole.

Wrong. So-Called rich people made no such investments. Corporations
did that.

>Which I gather you do not like.

We should have invested in Mexico instead of China.

And its by no means too late to correct that mistake.

>But if we raise taxes on the rich, the government would be able to lower
>the deficit,

Wrong. If you raise taxes on the rich they will take their money and
leave.

Wrong. If you raise taxes on anybody you have NO GUARANTEE the gov't
will pay down our debt.

IN FACT - the Gov't is currently 100% preoccupied with raising taxes
to give Criminal Beaners free citizenship and free Buckwheatcare.

>the value of the dollar would stabilize,

Which has nothing to do with taxes.

>and if the
>bureacrats spent the money, it would be spent in the USA,

Wrong, you have NO GUARANTEE they would do that.

>which creates profits for corporations in the USA.

Wrong. So far the majority of Porkulus money spent has gone to state
gov't jobs and temporary jobs, BOTH OF WHICH won't last.

>Is there a problem with creating
>more profits for American corporations?

Yes, the problem is it can't be done by gov't. ONLY American
consumers and American corporationn can get that done and they can't
get it done with Gov't shoving its hand up their ass looking for more
taxes every week.

No.

Nothing; you know that. They'll minimalize and rationalize because
they share the same goals as the world-changers: Destruction of the
carbon fuel based economy in order to force a transition to so-called
"green" economy regardless of economic or societal damage. Remember that
the nobility of the end justifies any means.

I drove to a local place that used to only sell auto parts wholesale
to retailers. Got a decent muffler, mount and clamps for a grand total
of $55, including tax. The place is only 2 miles from here, and I've
put the receipt in the box.

If we have trouble getting the old muffler off or anything like that,
I'll just take this back for a refund. Muffler Brothers down the street
quoted me $118 with tax if "all we need to do is the muffler". I'll
take that with a grain of salt, and figure they would have added on
another $20, so I'll say $138. However, I just got a coupon for $15 off
$100 at Muffler Brothers, so I'll just say the job should cost me $123
or less if I need to go that route.

Your third option would be to drive it off a cliff.

Make sure your computer is also in the van when you do.

Life is full of distractions, interruptions, unexpected challenges and

tripled. Nowadays you are constantly reachable unless you take

Actually, I only have my cell phone on for about 5-6 hrs / day (at most)
and never at night, while I'm driving, running errands, etc.

Since I dumped my land line, phone calls have been a very minor
concern. I've never had a phone call that required my immediate
attention (on that couldn't be returned at a later time).

I'll never understand the obsession to answer every call at the first
ring. Along that line, it's kind of amusing to see / hear people
taking on their cell phones in rest rooms.

A few months back we saw a couple having dinner out where both were on
their phones waiting for it to be served. My wife & I were convinced
they were talking to each other.

My Eee 900 netbook has become the only PC I've ever loved. Took about 2
hours to get used to the keyboard.

I think folks should consider Linux for the desktop, not just netbooks.
My tech-allergic wife has been running Linux on her workstation at home
for the past three years.

> so if you're heart is set on Linux, shop around. Even the most minimal-

A couple of points:

* physical media - having the windows cd/dvd available may be helpful if
you are considering pulling off windows and upgrading to linux. That
way you can reinstall
or provide the media if you ever want to see the box.

* livecd/liveusb - you can boot most of the linux distros off CD or off
USB (using unetbootin
for the later) to see if you like it an if it likes your hardware. No
harm, no foul.

* there are linux variants that may be better for netbooks.
The most famous is Ubuntu Netbook Remix. http://www.tinyurl.com/linuxnbr
SSD (ie, flash drives, not hard drives) may benefit from variants that
run in RAM and write
to the drive only periodically. they also tend to be very small
footprint OSes. You can effectively carry your computer in on your usb
keychain and boot it whereever.

DSL-N, 100MB.
Puppy linux, 100MB.
DSL, 50MB.

Tiny Core Linux is only 10MB (!) but is not suitable for beginners.

Yes, taking from official city recycling containers may be
designated as theft of city property.
