God damn fucking Gore could not even carry his home state. I believe Bush
did carry his home state.

The fact is that the country is evenly split between liberals and
conservatives. As far as I am concerned, it is a duel to the death.

A lot of the young people here in the USA seem to like Burger King better
than MacDonalds. I find all these burgers to be on the expensive side and I
only resort to them about once or twice a year.

Thats just plain wrong. The most pathetic wretches, the 'homeless'
drunks and drug addicts, find it a lot easier to engage in petty crime
and begging than to bother with the endless rigmarole that the welfare
system involves, particularly one like ours which has some very
stringent stuff on proof of identity thats designed to stop people
claiming more than one benefit in different names etc.

That involves a birth certificate, passport etc which the most pathetic
wretches dont even have at all.

It does here. Because our system stupidly pays a hell of a lot of money
per kid and those qualify for the full payment. The payments only cut out
at very substantial incomes. Terminally stupid middle class welfare.

Yes, I agree with you on the above. But even so, it is an insignificant
minority who resort to crime. MOST will go for the welfare - you god damn

Yes, it just barely does. That is OK with me. No one ever gets rich off of
welfare. It is just subsistence. You and I would not like it at all.

But that is the import of what you think of the situation. Either support
those who cannot support themselves or else kill them. I think we both agree
that it is better to just give them a little something to live on. It is the
price we pay for civil peace.

I have to laugh! Germany is being stuck with the bankruptcy of various

ignorant fool!

Not a bad point I must admit. But that is because even socialisms all fail
before they can progress to communism. Nonetheless, that is the ideological
bent of leftists the world over.

No, the governments do not yet own the means of production. They are welfare
states, but the tendency is toward ever more and more socialism. Hey, if you
hate capitalism, you are already a socialist.

Who care how the dregs live. It is how the middle class lives that matters -
you god damn ignorant fool!

Yes, they are in communist nations. Only the rulers are well off.

The recent immigrants have not yet been absorbed into the society. They

The Germans do not have anything approaching a full socialist system. Like
all the European nations they are only half way there - you god damn
ignorant fool!

Yes, tell us about how wonderful it is to live in a totally fucked-up nation

The problem I have with Rod Speed is the same problem I have with all those
who simply resort to calling others with whom they disagree with liars.
Either engage others on their level or forget about it. It is no good simply
calling others liars. What it does is bring out the devil in me.

For instance TM is such an idiot that it is difficult to engage him, but if
I were to do it, I would at least accord him the respect that I would want
for myself. Rod Speed fails in this most fundamental of all courtesies. It
is why I call him out for the god damn fool that he is.

These newsgroups require that we treat others as we would want to be
treated. What is so difficult about that? I no longer engage TM because his
posts send me into orbit with his idiocy. But I will engage a poster like
Rod Speed who is NOT an idiot, yet he provokes with his every utterance.

You provoke me at your peril. Rod Speed will learn this the hard way. You
can say anything you want on these forums, but calling other liars with your
every other sentence is NOT acceptable. I will crucify all those who resort
to this most imbecilic of all tactics. Even TM, as much as I despise him for
the simpleton that he is, is a human being deserving of respect. I hate
bullies and that is what Rod Speed is.

It aint the only one, tidal power cant either.

> Depends on how it's implemented.

Nope, its very difficult for it to be very cost effective.

Even just hyperinsulation is generally much more cost effective
basically because its now so cheap to hyperinsulate.

>>> A conventional house, properly oriented, with large

Particularly where its cold enough to need triple glazing
and fancy shuttering etc for when the sun isnt around.

> But with a good location, it would be stupid to
> not make some attempt at passive solar heating.

Yes, and thats why I did it myself, but it was much more
expensive than just the conventional wall there instead
and I dont even have double glazing, just single.

> As with any design one must look at the cost/benefit ratio.

Yes, but the original didnt say that.

Nope, less in fact because its only single glazing.

> If that wall was not facing north(?)(You're down under right?)
> you wouldn't have included the patio doors.

Thats wrong too. I have almost as many on the south side.
They are for the summer because I prefer an outside inside effect
in summer. There are no conventional windows at all except in the
bathrooms and toilets and above the kitchen sinks. The kitchens
are both on one side of massive big open plan main rooms.

> So they are additional cost to capture the sun.

So your no additional cost is just plain wrong.

> The house I lived in for 4 years had several large (about 4x6) windows in it's south wall.

Mine are 10x8 The biggest main room has 5 of those, 3 on the north side.

> Not optimal for solar gain.

Yeah, nothing like it.

> But, conventional. The house was built for esthetics

I recon my esthetics leave it for dead.

> and cost. It just happened to be well sited and oriented for passive
> solar gain. And it worked. On sunny winter days we could turn off
> the central heat and just depend on the sun to keep the house warm.

Yeah, I do too. I bask in the sun quite literally on sunny winter days.

I dont bother with central heat anymore, use what we call a heated
throw, basically an electric blanket used on the deep armchair.

All that glass was nothing like no cost tho, it actually cost more than the rest of the walls.
And its only single glazing. Our winters arent all that cold, we do occassional get a day
that doesnt get above 0C all day but they are rare, only a couple a year at most.

Gets pretty cold overnight tho.

A few months back I wrote about a problem I had with Tracfone. TF added
time to my account in error then demanded I pay for it. I refused and I
lost all the service for which I paid and they would not return my money.

Turned out to be a blessing. Credit card company agreed that TF was in the
wrong and returned my money. Then someone on this group suggested I look
at T-mobile prepaid.

Bought T-mobiles $119 Comet android phone and it works fine and the phone
service is much cheaper then tracfone after the 1st year.
