Bill, did you miss the thread earlier in the year about Verizon changing
that policy?

Verizon LD *used* to not have a monthly fee. But as of April this year
Verizon now assesses a "shortfall charge" of $2.19 a month, when you
include the taxes. As they explain it the "shortfall charge" is the
minimum you pay if you don't use any long distance service. "Shortfall"
- I feel so inadequate somehow... 8-)

At the time they implemented this fee change there were also several
reports of Verizon assigning themselves as the LD carrier to people who
intentionally had no LD carrier assigned to their phone.

Better check your bills going back to April 2007 - when Verizon started
assessing the "shortfall charge" for LD service.

NIKON didn't around 2 years ago when my Coolpix 2100 went wrong just out
of a years guarantee. They did reply to emails but would not help other
than direct me to a repair centre who wanted £60 to repair it.

Why do you say they did not afford you a 12 month warranty when your
account sounds very much like they did. Who was the seller/supplier of
your camera and did you try to approach them for assistance or redress?

But what is that? Is it really beyond the wit of vacuum cleaner
designers to take one of the cheaper products on the market and make
something comparably good? Yet no-one seems capable of it. Henry isn't
earth-shatteringly good in some peculiar manner, but no other maker
seems to get anywhere close to it. Dyson charge an arm and a leg, but
they can't even make a reliable mains flex!

Mind you, I'd spend the few extra quid and get the even better
steel-cased Henry instead, the NVQ250 (they ought to call it "Ron")

Standby mode? For a vacuum cleaner? Isn't "big switch" the appropriate
control device?

It only penetrates 6 or 7 inches? What is stopping the field?
The magnetic field from the earth goes straight thru your entire body.
Likewise the fields from the wiring and electric devices in your house
cut thru your entire body too.

It's time to put on the mu-metal hat.

Too bad they didn't study the toxic effects of exploding or leaking

Nope, you're right.

I would say that there are some that exist, but as the FAQ entry
above hints they are not TRUE RAR/ACE archivers.

I think IZArc freeware can create RAR archives.
Its web page says it's the most complete archive utility available today,
freeware or not.

Here is what it says at http://www.izarc.org

IZArc is the ultimate freeware archive utility supporting many
archive formats like: 7-ZIP, A, ACE, ARC, ARJ, B64, BH, BIN, BZ2, BZA,
C2D, CAB, CDI, CPIO, DEB, ENC, GCA, GZ, GZA, HA, IMG, ISO, JAR, LHA, LIB,
LZH, MDF, MBF, MIM, NRG, PAK, PDI, PK3, RAR, RPM, TAR, TAZ, TBZ, TGZ, TZ,
UUE, WAR, XXE, YZ1, Z, ZIP, ZOO. With a modern easy-to-use interface, IZArc
provides support for most compressed and encoded files, as well as access
to many powerful features and tools. It allows you to drag and drop files
from and to Windows Explorer, create and extract archives directly in
Windows Explorer, create multiple archives spanning disks, creating
self-extracting archives, repair damaged zip archives, converting from one
archive type to another, view and write comments and many more. IZArc has
also build-in multilanguage support.

With IZArc you can open CD image files like ISO, BIN, CDI and NRG. It is
also possible to convert such files from one type to another (BIN to ISO,
NRG to ISO).

If you need to send large files to your colleagues, friends or customers
who may not have archiving tool you can easily create self-extracting
archive that can be extracted by simple double click.

IZArc can be configured to run your preferred Anti-Virus scanner when you
open any archives.

IZArc supports 256-bit AES encryption to secure your data.

IZArc is integrated in Windows so you can perform all archiving operations
by using right-click menus in Windows Explorer.

If you have broken archives IZArc can help you to repair them with ease.

IZArc is 100% virus free and it doesn't contain any spyware or adware.

IZArc is the most complete archive utility available today.

For the record, IZArc freeware not only extracts the file to a folder of
any name, it chooses the most logical name and location automatically for
you ... and ... not only that - but it opens the resultant folder
automatically for you if you have that option checked.

What could be more convenient?

Certainly not WinZip or WinRAR in my humble experience.

You're in the drug-crazed fantasy. You think everything is great. The
government always tells the truth. CNN and Fox News always tell the truth.
You believe everything you're told as long as they say that everything is
fine...and can you be that sure?

Killing people is your answer? Well, that figures. I think it was
probably known that these products weren't safe long before the reports
started coming out. I used to be more gullible and trusting that people
really had the best interests of their fellow man in mind in all things,
but the more I see, the more I believe that many of these executives don't
give a sailing shit about anything but money and how they can get more of
it.

Yep, I've been observing the mindless hyperventilation by
fools like you since before you were even born thanks, child.

The doomsaying hasnt EVER happened yet. Funny that.

Nope, its THEIR answer, stupid.

And they send the bill for the bullet to the relos too.

> Well, that figures.

Pathetic.

Corse it was, which might just be why they werent allowed to do it like that.

And why some of them were excuted when they were
caught doing what they werent allowed to do too.
