>Check with your school. Some colleges offer a discount policy to

My present school has one, but when I transfer the current insurance will
not carry over. I can get my current insurance as an individual for my
transferring college, but will have to pay 400$ premium per month.

The school I am transferring to does not endorse any particular provider,
but requires their international students to purchase one. So, I have to
shop around to determine which is most affordable for someone like me.

Blue Cross Shield of Florida(http://www.bcbsfl.com/) has a premium of 126
per month with a deductible of 500 per individual and "No deductible for
in-network well care, but co-insurance for in-network services " It seems
if I visit a in-network provider most likely I will be charged 20% of the
cost? Did I understand it correctly?

Has anyone ever heard of this company Study USA Plan B and does this

http://www.serveglobe.com/insurance/affiliate/nriol/brochure/study-usa-
insurance.pdf seem legitimate?
I was told there is also HTH Worldwide
(http://www.hthstudents.com/insurance.cfm) which is 86 for standard(100$
deductible and basic medical is covered only 80% till 10K) and 116 for
preferred(100$ deductible and after basic medical of 5K, 80% till 245K).
Can anyone please advise if the companies are valid?

Also, how can I find if a health insurance company is legitimate and
treats their customers claims properly or not?

There are some other companies like

http://www.visitorsinsurance.com/international_student.php which offer
coverage upto 500K for 54$ monthly premium whose benefits are at

http://www.visitorsinsurance.com/patriotexchange_plan.php#Benefits
but they mention 100% in co-insurance. What might that mean?
I thought co-insurance is typically 10-20%, but 100% means I am
responsible for all costs? Am I understanding properly?

I would appreciate any advice in determining which insurance companies
are valid and handle claims properly.

Thanks

I am moving from college A to college B. Presently, I have health
insurance through College A, but when I move to college B it will not
carry over as it was purchased as a group policy for college A students
only by college A. College B does not have any such health insurance
policies for its students, but requires its international students to
have health insurance. If I want to keep the same insurance which college
A provides me when I move to college B I have to get it as an individual
it is expensive about 300-400 per month for premium.

The problem is in finding a health insurance from a legitimate company
for an affordable price(less than 100) if possible which treats claims
properly so that I have health insurance for myself and to satisfy
college B's transfer requirements.

Thanks

You'd be advised to learn a bit about what Medicare and
Medicaid are. Start here, to see if BIL is eligible:

You might take a look at Alltel. Their prepaid per minute
plan was 15¢/minute. They had a $4/month charge if the phone wasn't
used. One call lasting a minute would be enough to avoid the $4 charge.
I don't know if that's still the case. The bad thing about their
service is the need to double dial when roaming.

As much as I hate their customer service, if all goes well, then Tracfone
reception is the best. (well for me).

Perhaps a bit less. Last year Target had a sale on T-Mobile stuff --
for something like $90 you got a $100 top-up card, a free no-frills
phone and a $10 card. I have until March for them to have another sale,
but one of the survey groups pays me off in Target cards so the next
year will be free.

The supercheap dialarounds for LD landline service seem to have
evaporated. Either "billing fees" or exhorbitant per-call charges on
top of the reasonable per-minute charges seem to be the order of the day.

I was struck by the same thing. Either the house is so well insulated he
doesn't need to worry about heating costs or, more likely, something is
screwy.

Another question is whether this a radiant floor, with a very long
time lag, or some other form of radiant.

If it's a radiant floor, the on / off set points should be moved
earlier as the floor takes a while to cool off, and then heat up again.

If the burner is cycling 6 times while the living area is still warming
up, I would say that the burner is running too high; it is heating the
furnace at a much higher rate than than the radiators are capable of
distributing it. And if it's taking 90 minutes to raise the temperature
4 degrees, either the radiators are too small, or the circulating pump
is.

If it's oil-fired, the cycles do count, as the burner is least efficient
at start-up. Even the best residential oil burners on the market do not
achieve complete combustion when igniting.

Check the service tag to see what nozzle size is installed; by using a
smaller nozzle, you lower fuel consumption, but prevent the burner from
heating the furnace so much faster than the radiators can remove it.
Unfortunately, most systems are sized for the coldest possible
conditions, which makes them oversized for TYPICAL conditions.

The problem with oil-fired hot water heat (which I have) is that most
furnaces maintain their internal water temp at the setpoint, regardless
of whether the living area thermostat is calling for heat. That means
that the burner might run several times during the night just to keep
the FURNACE warm, in case there is a call for heat.

Better control systems allow the furnace setpoint to be changed
dynamically, usually in response to the outside temperature, although it
would be a simple matter to put this under timer control as well.
There's no reason that the water temperature shouldn't be allowed to
drop by 20 to 50 degrees F during the night.

Get Control Of Your Time

The average person has absolutely no control of their time. When it
comes to managing this area of their lives, people tend to be
abysmal. Some might be competent when it comes to their working
hours. However, when their personal lives are factored in, they
receive a failing score.

Have you ever met someone who is consistently late? For whatever
reason, they are always 5-15 minutes behind. Of course, they will be
courteous by calling to let you know that they are running behind.
Yet the bottom line is that they never met you at the agreed upon
time. What is interesting is to note how these same people live their
lives in general. It seems that someone with this problem tends to
have a life that is a mess also. They cannot manage any aspect of
it. Their basic operation is to run from one situation to the next.
Amazingly, even though they are constantly busy, they appear to get
very little done.

There is a fundamental philosophy that comes true regardless of what
people do to get around it. Basically, if you do not get control of
your time, there is no way that you will ever have control in your
life. Failure to manage our time puts us in the position of
duplicating the aforementioned scenario. We move from one activity to
another without making any apparent progress. Our time is spent in a
continual state of emergency while we place our focus on the urgent
instead of the important. True success comes from being able to
handle those activities which have a meaningful impact upon our
lives. Getting to this point accelerates all our efforts in
everything we do.

There are two simple practices one can implement immediately to
garner a bit more control. The first involves keeping your word. It
is essential that we begin to do those things we say that we are going
to do at the time that we agreed upon. The habit of letting ourselves
off the hook is too easy a trap to fall into. We must raise our
standard of conduct in this area. Regardless of what else is
occurring, treating each time commitment as a life or death situation
will aid in creating a new habit. If we are consistently late, it is
a sign that we need to more attentive to the commitments that we
make. It is a good idea to initially cut back on some of the
activities we consent to. This relieves us of some of the pressure
which results in us operating at a harried pace.

The second area that can be immediately changed is to be conscious of
any perfectionism complex that we might have. Many people with time
management issues have an need to do everything perfectly. They will
continue with an activity far beyond the acceptable level of
performance. This stems from having a low self worth. To compensate,
they attempt to make their results extraordinary. Unfortunately, this
creates a situation where things take longer than they should. Watch
someone operating under this premise and you will see a task take 3
times as long as it should. The easiest way is to remember that a
great deal of success is derived from the simple act of completing
something. Often, others expectations are a lot less then ours. Give
them what they require, but allow yourself to be less than perfect.

Gaining control of our time instantly improves every area of our
lives. The more that we can focus our attention on those things which
are truly important to us, the fuller our lives will become. Some of
the most successful people operate at a pace that is fast yet
unhurried. People who are hurried tend to make senseless mistakes.
Careful consideration to how you are spending your time and what you
are agreeing to will show those tasks which are important to you. A
little planning will go a long way to achieving your ultimate end.
