Yes, I can read it, Phil, and I have, for several decades now. And I've
written about it, and I have over 350 published articles and chapters of
three books, mostly on machining and the business of manufacturing,
including world trade, taxation, and related subjects.

What I know is that your number is baloney. That's not unusual here,
especially when, as I notice now, this message is cross-posted. You can't
provide a source for your number because it's a crock. We could have
discussed it and you would see *why* it's baloney, but you apparently would
rather believe your fantasies than find out what the truth of it is.

Corse it is, some things deflate in a recession, some inflate.

The price of gasoline has obviously deflated. The cost of some
taxes, particularly property taxes, have inflated for some.

Then he shouldn't say "deflation." Prices rise and prices fall, and they can
rise in one category while falling in another. And you can make a semantic
case for using the terms inflation and deflation to describe them.

But that doesn't help one understand the economics of generalized inflation
and deflation, which have a much broader implication for growth, employment
opportunities, the functioning of banks and other financial institutions,
and so on.

It's best for clarity and understanding to use the terms in the way they're
most commonly used in describing national economies. When you pass a
threshhold of deflationary activity, the behaviors of individual segments of
an economy start feeding upon each other. That's when you can have trouble.

they're just too stupid to origanise their financial affairs so
that they can survive the inevitable time between jobs fine.

I've had no problems with Vistaprint-- every few days they send me an
email that some stuff is free (except for shipping) and including
shipping it's still pretty inexpensive. So if they have the right
combination of stuff I need for my business, I order it (business
cards, fridge magnets, postcards, brochures, other marketing
materials) because the more things you order the less per item the
shipping is.

Note that their 'free' business cards come with a Vistaprint ad on the
back; I've never ordered those.

I think what this is about is that when you order, sometimes a screen
pops up offering something like $10 off your next order if you sign up
for something that's free for 30 days (and after that, they charge
your credit card a monthly fee for whatever the thing is-- buying
services, etc.).

I've done that, and cancelled, and have never been charged. I suppose
there are those who don't read the offer carefully, or don't save the
phone # to call to cancel, or forget...

(My only connection with Vistaprint is as an occasional customer)

I'm not sure the Vistaprint spam comes directly from Vistaprint, but
their website has a phone # on it, and they do answer their calls.

we have a '59 Rex Mobile home and we love it. but I was curious.
why does it have complete running lights , two permanent axles , electric
brakes and hitch . It is 45 x 10 ?
No ones going traveling with this monster. It's a long , long long
trailer. It features a lot on built ins. like cabinets and a full
kitchen not the construction office type.

When I worked for a place with a postage meter, that's how we got
refunds for screwed-up envelopes ("WHAT MORON LEFT THE METER SET TO
$9.99???"). But I've used it for stamped envelopes, too.

Not sure if they'll let you use it for stamps that have been cut off,
though, they may think you're trying to rip them off with stamps that
actually went through the mail but didn't get cancelled.

I get them in a few, too. I read somewhere that there was a study
that showed that the number of contributions was higher when the
return envelopes had stamps on them. Direct mail is very much a
business where tiny details matter, even when the marketers don't know
why.

I get stamped envelopes from the National Yiddish Book Center and
Doctors Without Borders.

(I would really prefer that they didn't send them to me. Every January
we sit down and decide how much to give various charities, and we send
them the money with no reminders.)
