This string caught my attention because recently it is pretty much
what everyone is talking about. The comments here are good and I found
myself reading through a lot longer than I expected to because I guess
I've personally felt the effects of this fuel crunch myself but
luckily I found something that worked. Anyway. I plan on staying up to
date with the convo.

I don't think anybody is into it. A lot are pushing it and a few are
duped into investing.

Wont need any alternative, the power stations will still be coal and nuke
powered and the plastics etc will come from coal instead of from oil.

Been doing something similar for 35 years. We have a "budget" book on
the kitchen counter. Every expenditure is manually entered & totally
at the end of each month in dozen categories.

While we don't follow a "budget", knowing where our money goes has
allowed us to maximize our spending / saving. It forces us to think
whether certain expenditures are really in our best interest.
It also shows where / how some expenditures are going up in costs vs
over spending.

If one doesn't control their spending, they have no control over their
savings.

Wrong when you earn considerably more than you spend.

Yup. The more resources the better, as far as I'm concerned.

High-quality cloth diapers do an excellent job. We just use
hotel-quality hand towels.

We still use the cloth diapers from when my daughter was a baby almost
two decades ago as rags. They work great!

I use my iPod Touch as a calculator. Not frugal...but it does the job.

All the more reason EVERYONE should pass basic math, right? I've seen
the same thing in stores...they can't put one over on me...I know how
to multiply and divide :D

Wrong, thats why god invented calculators.

You've multiplied too much already, seerially.

Time for some retrospective abortions/division.

My experience at the supermarkets where I usually shop is that they also
give unit prices being price per 100 sheets.

PROVEN BY OPRAH SHOW...MAKE EASY MONEY USING E-GOLD...

SPEND $5 AND MAKE THOUSANDS...

Spend $5 to Make Thousands - Proven By Oprah & 20/20.
It's true; you can turn $5.00 over $5,000 in about one month using e-
gold!
Proven to work by OPRAH, DATELINE & 20/20!
There are thousands of people out there, regular people, like you and
me, searching for a way to make money legally and easy, well here is a
way you can do that. Please give this letter a chance, everything on
it is true and it can help you get that kind of money you dreamed of.
And you are only investing $5.00!!!
When I read this I thought I figured at least 6 people would respond
out of the millions of people that use the internet. And Wow!! In 4
days I made my $5 back and my e-gold account is growing even while I
sleep. You should give it a try too! You have nothing to lose, and
thousands to gain!
You have most likely seen or heard about this project on TV programs
such as 20/20 and Oprah or you may have read about it in the Wall
Street Journal. If not, here it is below - revealed to you in step-by-
step detail. This program is by no means new. It has been in existence
in many forms for at least a decade. But in the early days, it
required a lot more time and effort, as well as an investment of a few
hundred dollars.
However thanks to e-gold and the Internet, the investment is now
virtually ZERO! And what's more, the entire process is FASTER, EASIER,
and MORE LUCRATIVE than it has EVER been!
This is the email sent to me:

Make $5,000 with just $5 in 30 days with e-gold:

I WAS SHOCKED WHEN I SAW HOW MUCH MONEY CAME FLOODING INTO MY E-GOLD
ACCOUNT I turned $5 into $5,706 within the first 30 days of operating
the business plan that I am about to reveal to you free of charge. If
you decide to take action on the following instructions, I will
GUARANTEE that you will enjoy a similar return!
The only things you will need are:
- An email address.
- An e-gold account with at least $5 deposited in it. (It's free to
sign up for e-gold)
- And just 15 to 30 minutes of your time. (The more time you put into
it, the more you'll see in return)
This program takes just half an hour to set up .After that, there is
absolutely no work whatsoever to do on your part. You have absolutely
NOTHING to lose, and there is NO LIMIT to the amount of income you can
generate from this one single business program.
Let's get started, just follow the instructions exactly as set out
below and then get prepared for a HUGE influx of cash over the next 30
days! Here's what you need to do. . .

REQUIREMENTS:
#1) an email address

#2) an e-gold account (free to open at: www.e-gold.com)

#3) $5

Now follow the steps: 1-4

STEP #1 - Setting up your FREE e-gold (If you already have an account,
just move on to the next step) It's extremely safe and very easy to
set up a FREE e-gold account! Copy and paste this to the address bar
www.e-gold.com.

E-gold is used by thousands of companies, including
eBay to accept credit cards and other forms of payment...

STEP #2: Funding your e-gold account. You fund your e-gold account
locally or from e-gold listed exchangers at: http://www.e-gold.com/unsecure/links.htm

STEP #3: Sending e-gold money "It is an undeniable law of the universe
that we must first give in order to receive."
Now all you have to do is send $1.00 by way of e-gold to each of the
five email addresses listed below.
After setting up your free e-gold account AND putting (five dollars)
$5.00 into it, you now log into your account to send $1.00 to each of
the numbers on the list. Then remove the top one (#1) and place your e-
gold number in the #5 spot on the list of numbers #1 - #5. Remember
your number becomes #5.
***Make sure the subject of the payment says... *PLEASE PUT ME ON YOUR
EMAIL LIST* ***
(this keeps the program 100% legal... so please don't forget!). The
following are the e-gold numbers:

#1) 3841677

#2) 3601608

#3) 5467413

#4) 4853057

$5) 5463409

Remember, all of this is ABSOLUTELY LEGAL! You are creating a service!
A Business... An Email List Service Business.
If you have any doubts, please refer to Title 18 Sec. 1302 & 1241 of
the United States Postal laws. However, do not spam. This means, you
should never sent it to an email that was not given to you willingly
by the owner. This makes your business completely legal.
STEP #3 - Adding Your E-gold Number:

After you send your five $1.00 payments, it's your turn to add your e-
gold number to the list!
Take the #1) e-gold number off the list that you see above, move the
other e-gold numbers up one by one (5 becomes 4 & 4 becomes 3, etc)
then put YOUR e-gold number (the one used in your e-gold account as
#5) on the list.
** MAKE SURE THE E-GOLD YOU SUPPLY IS EXACTLY AS IT APPEARS IN YOUR E-
GOLD ACCOUNT. **

STEP #4 - Copy Message to 200 Newsgroups, message boards, etc ......
or you can start sending this letter to as many e-mails you encounter.
The Pure Joy of Receiving E-GOLD Money!
You are now ready to post your copy of this message, to at least 200
newsgroups, message boards, etc. (I think there are close to 32,000
groups).
All you need is 200, but remember, the more you post, the more money
you make - as well as everyone else on the list! In this situation
your job is to let as many people see this letter as possible. So they
will make you rich!!!

HOW TO POST TO NEWSGROUPS & MESSAGE BOARDS
Step #1) you do not need to re-type this entire letter to do your own
posting. Simply put your CURSOR at the beginning of this letter and
drag your CURSOR to the bottom of this document, and select 'copy'
from the edit menu. This will copy the entire letter into your
computer's temporary memory.
Step #2) Open a blank 'Notepad' file and place your cursor at the top
of the blank page. From the 'Edit' menu select 'Paste'. This will
paste a copy of the letter into notepad so that you can add your email
to the list. Or copy to a Word Document and place in the e-mail.
Step #3) Save your new Word or Notepad file as a .txt file. If you
want to do your postings in different sittings, you'll always have
this file to go back to.
Step #4) Use Netscape or Internet Explorer and try searching for
various newsgroups, on-line forums, message boards, bulletin boards,
chat sites, discussions, discussion groups, online communities, etc.
EXAMPLE: go to any search engine like yahoo.com, google.com,
altavista.com, excite.com - then search with subjects like millionaire
message board or money making message board or opportunity message
board or money making discussions or business bulletin board or money
making forum etc. You will find thousands & thousands of message
boards. Click them one by one then you will find the option to post a
new message.
Step #5) Visit these message boards and post this article as a new
message by highlighting the text of this letter and selecting "Select
All" the go the message board and 'Paste' from the 'Edit' menu. Fill
in the Subject, this will be the header that everyone sees as they
scroll thru the list of postings in a particular group, click the post
message button. You're done with your first one!
Congratulations! THAT'S IT!! All you have to do is jump to different
newsgroups and post away. After you get the hang of it, it will take
about 30 seconds for each newsgroup!
REMEMBER, THE MORE NEWSGROUPS AND/OR MESSAGE BOARDS YOU POST IN, THE
MORE MONEY YOU WILL MAKE!! BUT YOU HAVE TO TRY TO POST A MINIMUM OF
200**.
That's it! You will begin receiving money within days!
Explanation of why it works so well:
The thing to remember is, thousands of people all over the world are
joining the internet and reading these articles everyday, JUST LIKE
YOU are now!!
So can you afford $5.00?? And see if it really works?? I think so!
People have said what if the plan is played out and no one sends you
the money? So what are the chances of that happening when there are
tons of new honest users and new honest people who are joining the
internet and newsgroups everyday and are willing to give it a try?
Estimates are at 20,000 to 50,000 new users everyday, with thousands
of those joining the actual Internet.
Remember, play FAIRLY and HONESTLY and this will work. This really
isn't another one of those crazy scams! As long as people FOLLOW
THROUGH with sending out $5.00, it works!
Thank you for reading this letter. Now give yourself the opportunity
to try it out, there is really nothing to lose.
With warm wishes, bless you and your loved ones ...
$$$$$ REMEMBER, IT IS 100% LEGAL! DON'T PASS THIS UP
STILL NEED PROOF? Here are just 3 testimonials from the countless
individuals who decided to invest nothing more than $5 and half an
hour of their time to participate in this program:...

"What an amazing plan! I followed your instructions
just 3 weeks ago, and although I haven't made 5 grand
yet, I'm already up to $4,135. I'm absolutely gob
smacked." - Pam Whittemore , Ohio

"Well, what can I say...? THANK YOU SO MUCH! I sent 40
e-mails out like you said and then I just forgot about the whole
thing. To be honest, I didn't really think anything would come of it.
But when I
checked my e-gold account a week later, there was over $3,000 in my e-
gold account.

After 30 days I now have over $5,000 to spend! I can't thank you
enough!"- Juan Tovar , NY , NY .

"I was shocked when I saw how much money came
flooding into my e-gold account. Within 3 weeks my
account balance has ballooned to $5,449. At first I
thought there had been some sort of error with my
account!" -Richard Barri

It's a repeat of a repeat posting as well.
The thing is, who could consider Oprah as a positive endorsement of
anything except a donut shop?
With all her money and personal trainers, she can't keep from feeding
her face.

Not necessary, particularly with meat. The meat wets normal bags quite adequately.

Nope, just have two separate column in the chart, stupid.

Not necessary if the power doesnt go off for more than half a day and the freezer contents
are insured or paid for by the power company when it stays off longer than that.

Especially considering there's no shortage of oil, according to the
Sheiks.Imo, if it wasn't for the Big Iowa Primary, where the Dems must
kneel and kiss the rings of the Ethanol Lobby, there'd be no interest in
ethanol from corn. Btw, what ever happened to that "free trade"
thing,.....we could get ethanol from sugar in Brazil for cheap if not
for the tariff, about 50 cents a gallon, iirc.

It's making a lot of people rich. What better way to increase the
price of energy than by using energy to make (less) energy?

Nope.

Drive the price up by speculating in the energy.

Heat technolgy with verve. Since more than 30 years - water-bearing
chimney boilers.

As the costs for energy explode and the responsibility for everyone
towards the environment becomes clearer day by day, it is time to draw
the consequences. And to decide for a heat system that - technically
mature and approved in many cases - united any advantage of modern
heat supply.

During the years Normatherm(R) has become a synonym for the
development,
the construction and the installation of water-bearing chimney boilers
(inserts). This spadework becomes more and more a benefit for users,
like numerous letters of thanks do prove. In fact there is hardly any
doubt, that water-leading chimney inserts will establish on the heat
market as a future driven technology with a unique quality tradition.
Regarding the relatively stable costs for regenerative wood and the
minimizing of emissions, house owners decide for a solution, that
brings together the enjoyable (the special warmth of a fireplace) with
the beneficial (a bargain heat and warm water supply). Of course
water-
bearing chimney inserts are becoming also a favourable alternative for
the heating of commercial premises: to save money and to welcome
clients within the charm of cosy chimney heat ambiance the same time -
who wouldn`t like this?
Proven performance and power
With their enormous power spectrum (15 - 45v kw) the water-leading
chimney inserts by Normatherm(R) cover a remarkably wide range of
applications: as endorsement of (yet existing) systems or as singular
solution: in any case the heat is pipelined to the place where it is
needed. Moreover Normatherm(R) chimney boilers come with air intake,
which control the combustion air from outside, according to the power
needed - therefore the heated room air cannot be reburnt. The
Normatherm(R) water-bearing chimney inserts consist of massive (4 mm)
kettle steel, in accordance with DIN 4702 part 1.
They are approved for the combustion of wood, peat, briquettes and
solid fuels according to codes and guidelines. System components,
energy management (system control) and fireplace connection fulfill
the highest standard. As ideal completion we recommend the comfort of
a short-term heat storage facility. Its dimesions and functions (to
use the produced heat at a later moment) can be adjusted according to
demand. Also at this point, the high quality of advice given by
Normatherm(R) proves its costumer`s benefit: as a technology to
date,
well-engineered and innovative the same time.

Target unit pricing shelf labels for paper goods like paper
towels and toilet tissue list the unit price per 100 sheets
instead of per 100 square feet as do other stores.
It's inaccurate. Sheet sizes vary. Converting unit pricing
from per 100 sheets to per 100 square feet is difficult
to do in the aisle of the Target store.

I suggest you avoid using paper towels. They are expensive compared to
cloth towels (including washing the towels), and they are not
environmentally friendly.

That's interesting. The model regulation for unit pricing states that if the
product is sold on the basis of units ("100 sheets"), then the unit price is
quantity 1. OTOH, if the product is sold on the basis of area, then the unit
price needs to be related to area.

http://ts.nist.gov/WeightsAndMeasures/upload/12_IV_UnitpricReg-06-H130-FINAL.pdf

So the question is: what are the units on the package itself?

And of course, states are free to amend, modify or ignore the model regulation.
