Idiots all!

Whilst some ants aim for protein, like dried semen stains the bedsheets,
others prefer sweet things, like sugar crumbs under the table. Still others
go for live insects, still wriggling, and some go for dead insects, dried
up and crunchy.

However, the Argentine ants here in California are omnivorous - they'll eat
just about anything. And, as I said, they're tough to kill 'cuz they have
multiple queens and they can go to any nest, unlike other ants.

Hence they wipe out the indigenous ant population.

It would still oxidize and ruin the carpet.

Yeah, the joy of Terro is when the little cattle all circle around the drinking
hole en masse.

No, you are the blooming idiot who thinks we care about your precious "special
ants". Idiots also think they can disprove a general rule with a small anomally
exception.

If those Argentine ants are lurred into taking the Terro, they will carry it
back to all of those nests and be quite effective. If they'll eat "anything",
then they will certainly chow down on Terro.

Healthier????? On the basis of it's fat content? Seems like there is a
need for a bit of education about relative fat levels in food if people
think that.

And cheese. That is very high fat.

True, so why the heavy cream in you coffee?

There is also quantity consumed to consider. Some people treat milk as a
beverage rather than as a food.

Again, it's the quantity consumed. And I'd rather spend my dairy fat
"ration" on the fat-equivalent amount of cheese than on whole milk.

Meat, fish, veggies, eggs, cheese, cream, home-grown fruit (small quantities
because of the high carb content), oils, and nuts. We don't eat any sugar
(other than the carbs in the foods listed above) or wheat, rice, etc. For
cooking we use soy flour.

We don't bother with such places. At least in our area big box hasn't
completely taken over everything. We buy most of our stuff at a local
family owned market that started out as an Italian market. They have
great prices and good quality and you don't need to buy industrial sized
packages. Lots of folks ignore the idea that there may be someplace like
that in their area and surprisingly people turn their nose up when I
mention it because if it doesn't have magical big box branding telling
them how wonderful it is they think it can't be good.

Paul,

Thanks for posting this. I found it interesting, although it would be
nice (but probably a big job) to see regular grocery store prices (or
George's corner market prices) next to the photos so you can actually
see that there is some savings.

Thanks,

Dave

Pastene is a Massachusetts-based company; it's possible that you can't
find it outside the NE. De Cecco is an Italian import; most of the
supermarket chains in MA carry it, and I believe it has national
distribution. You can buy it from them online at:

Sounds like a scam to me, Mr. SmartyPants. At the end of 60 days, they
ding your credit card for another $!60. Wow what a bargain!
Actually, you can buy minoxidil in costco for about $10 for more than
a 60 day supply,

After my last trip to the Costco wholesale membership warehouse, I
snapped some pictures of all the products. Then I got out my
supermarket receipts and did some price comparisons.

Some things were 1/2 or less than half the price of the same or
similar items at the supermarket like rice, canned tomatoes, bananas
and milk.

I think the only thing that was more expensive at Costco were the eggs
which are 17 cents each at Costco and only 14 cents at the
supermarket.

If you're interested, I put the pictures of the items with all the
prices in this gallery.
http://www.paulstravelpictures.com/Costco-Wholesale-Club-Product-Prices/index.html

I spent over $200 on this trip but many of the items will last us for
at least a few months. It sucks having to bag and find storage room
for a lot of the things we bought but the savings are worth it.

Many of the small ants aren't looking for sugar, they want fats.
Try mixing boric acid into some melted chicken fat, then let it
solidify.

Too much boric acid is gritty to the ants, and they'll avoid it.

I filled a small container lid with that mixture, and the ants were ten
deep trying to get to it. They worked for 3 days and left it totally
clean. They didn't come back.

Syrup, grease and boric acid oughta get 'em all, then. All I have is
butter and various vegetable oils. I think the butter would do best.

You're all a bunch of bloomin idiots!

You can't kill the invincible Argentine ant where I come from here in
California with Terro or boric acid or arsenic or anything else.

What brings these ants in and out of your house is the weather.

If you think Terro or boric acid is going to change the weather, then by
all means, have a blast. But you're wasting your time and effort.

Says so right here:
http://www.mindfully.org/Pesticide/Pesticides-Wont-Stop-em.htm

The Argentine ant has multiple queens and the workers can go to any nest,
so, you can't kill 'em off just by dissolving 1 teaspoon (5 mL) powdered
boric acid and 10 teaspoons (50 mL) sugar into 2 cups (500 mL) of water;
this mixture can then be absorbed into cotton balls which are left near ant
trails.

Shrug. I don't low-carb to lose weight, I low-carb to maintain high energy
and good health. When I eat carbs I feel like crap. Most people do, they
just don't realize it. I had a friend who thought it was normal to go into a
near coma after every meal. Once she began to low-carb she got back about 3
hours a day she used to spend slumped in a chair. Most auto-immune disorders
could be instantly cured by simply avoiding whatever it is you're allergic
to, rather than taking prescription medication with lymphoma as a "side
effect". Since sensitivity to wheat gluten is the most underdiagnosed
allergy in human beings, anyone with any sort of medical problem should try
cutting wheat out of their diet (first step to low-carbing) and see if that
cures what ails them. They've got a 50-50 shot. I've never met anyone who
didn't feel better on a low-carb diet. Weight loss has nothing to do with
it, that's just a side benefit for most people.

DG- not ok, lower quality, smaller boxes, higher prices.
About a year ago KKR acquired them, sucked out the cash
value and left them with nothing but debt. Now, better
known as a Dollar and a Half store.

Our Super Walmart dropped a lot of their GV branded, and old
line east coast companies, like Stauffer's snacks. Like
other local stores, they sold isles of their shelf space to
Frito-Lay.

Past 6 months, Kroger was beating Super W-M prices. But in
the past two weeks or so, Kroger prices increased about 25%.
They are playing games with their 10 for $10 specials.
Originally, each item rang up as $1, but now ring as regular
price (like $1.39). If you have ten of a specific group of
10 fers, then you get a credit backing them down to $10.
Just avoid those shelf tags that have 4 lines of fine print
under the "10 for $10". ;-)

Our neighborhood stores were Shurfine and topco affiliates
but now offer best-choice and always-save, which has
terrible quality control. After a few random cut corn cans
and pinto bean cans full of water/spice syrup and a teaspoon
of vegetable, we avoid those brands. Also, their stuff is
now one or two decimal place measure like 10.75 oz, 15.5 oz,
11.25 oz.
