Probably put there to satisfy some local or federal regulation
at the time. It was probably classified as a trailer. After all,
it was towed to it's site.

You can try having a warm towel ready at the door for her to walk on. I keep
a towel at the back door on the floor for my dogs to walk across as they
come in the door so most of the water gets off their feet. If you put a
towel in the dryer, it would be very warm for her to stand on when she comes
in.

If she is only out for a minute or less, then her pads shouldn't
freeze. If you want her to be out longer, then socks make sense.
Alcohol dialates blood vessels, which is why you shouldn't drink
before going out, but can warm up faster with a nip after coming in.
I'm pretty sure the mechanisms in dogs are similar, but getting a dog
to drink might be a problem. That small amount would just take the
curse off.

I'm thinking the closed cell blue foam sold for mats under sleeping
bags would make great booties for a dog. Just cut n hot glue them to
shape.

Ok, you mean hot gluing the foam to the bottom of SOCKS, right? Not the

Yeah, into socks. Unless you had a blue tack hound. :-)

I make my own spreadsheets for my business and personal finance tracking as
well. I have a local CPA do my taxes, but that's because of the business. He
runs the numbers through a bunch of different options to see which saves me
the most. He only charges me $75 to do all the schedules, and he's saved me
a ton over what the "tax professionals" (H&R Block, etc.) told me I owed. My
taxes are still outrageous, but $75 a year to save a few thousand is
definitely worth it.

Side note - how on earth did our tax code get so screwed up that it's even
possible to come out with different amounts of tax owed based on how you
process the same amount of deductions?

Tax code is a sore issue with almost everyone. I think some people stay up
late figuring out how to confuse the rest of the people. Luckily my taxes
are very simple, a small work income and Social Security (SS not taxable in
my situation). But even I am surprised at some things. Such as Earned
Income Credit not being applicable when I got to be 65. For those who
continue to work after age 65 - because they need to financially - that EIC
would be handy.

Only once have I ever had someone else do my taxes - and it wasn't worth the
time. I saw what was done and realized it could have easily done it myself.

"Getting up there" is anything over 100k miles or so. Also, if it's not
paid off, then it's too soon regardless of the mileage. On the other hand,
I had one car were the monthly repair bills were higher than the payments on
a new car - mileage in that case was irrelevant.

The anomaly I find in discussions of this sort is that, if everyone bought
only used cars and no one bought new cars, there wouldn't be any cars after
some number of years. If you look at the big picture, the advice to buy
only used is ultimately nonsense. Buy what you need, with an admixture of
what you want, tempered by a hefty dose of what you can afford.

My 05 Pilot is now at 100k for which I have no concerns driving it
anywhere, although I may start looking around after 150k, assuming it
holds up as expected. Hopefully it'll be several years as we hope to
continue greatly reduced driving. We were averaging about 30k / yr, but
were able to drop that to 20k in 07 and 15k in 08.

I heard of a guy who bought two new Mercedes and put one on blocks in
some kind of storage and just drove the other until after maybe 20
yrs. he got the old/new one out and kept the first for parts.
I'm not suggesting this to anyone, Just a true story.
I've heard Obama's old Chrysler is getting bids over $110,000
that's re-sale value.

100K? You're just getting started at 100K with most Toyotas or Hondas.
Driving them into the ground starts at around 250K.

It was purchased when my wife was single and was too small when child
unit #2 arrived. Also, a two door coupe was much more difficult to deal
with in terms of putting kids into child car seats.

Since we've now had that Camry for 13 years, I don't feel that it was an
extravagant purchase.

Hello all,

We made homemade cheese curds last night. They turned out very
squeaky, the way I like them. The cheese was bright white unlike most
of the store bought varieties I've eatan. It was nice to know what
actually went into the cheese.

Has anyone ever tried making cheese with sheep's milk?

| I have had mine for 8 years and love it. It is excellent in several ways.

how is it temperature-wise? i've heard that they
can be hot to sleep on....

I haven't noticed it.

The biggest known "problem" is that when they're cold, they get stiff. If you
have an unheated bedroom, it will take a while for your body heat to warm the
foam enough so it is responsive. I keep my bedroom about 65 F, and that temp is
no problem.

I have heard that story about them being hot too. I keep a quilted
mattress pad on it, and it probably provides a bit of breathing space which
could prevent it from being too hot. I have never slept on it without the
mattress pad, so you should consider my experience with that in mind.

My daughter lives in Texas and you know it gets really hot there. Her
Tempurpedic isn't too hot for her either. The foam is dense and firm when
you first lay down, but it gets softer as you lay on it and the body heat
helps it to form to your shape. Both my son and stepson own memory foam
mattresses and feel the same way as I do, though stepson bought a CLONE of
the tempurpedic in Sam's club for only $500 and he loves it just the same.

I absolutely love mine, and when you consider how many mattresses I have
owned over the years that are all in the dump, having gotten sagged in the
middle or just plain old and funky..... this is definitely a good buy and a
frugal choice in the big picture. I would not only do it again, I would
have done it a lot sooner!

Yes, but once it warms to your body it is amazingly comfortable!

Something seems to be occurring, however I am not sure that the
correct word is devaluation, as much as it is honest valuation.

We seem to be in the classical situation where the little kid
observes in a typically loud, bratty voice "the Emperor has no
clothes on," and every one is shocked shocked.

I just finished reading the Jan15 Thursday WSJ [I get by mail and
am always a day behind] and hidden in the back on page C10 was
the squib that the latest data shows that CitiBank has a 47:1
tangable assets:tangable common equity ratio. To put this in
context Lehman Btothers was castigated for having a 30:1 leverage
when they went b/k. That paragon of financial planning
Goldman-Sachs currently has a 21:1 ratio.

Information on exactly how much Citi has received so far [and is
about to receive] and the terms is unknown.

That can make sense if unreliability has substantial real costs
in loss of business etc and the cost of the new car isnt that much.

outstanding and innovative timepieces. It wasn't until 1931, however,
that the Jaeger-LeCoultre brand rose to international fame. It was
then that the Reverso - an ingenious reversible watch - was unveiled

Rado traces its roots to Lengnau, Switzerland, and to three diligent
brothers who in 1917, began producing watch movements within their
parents' home. In 1947, Dr. Paul Luthi joined the growing company to
expand their Exacto brand. Further expansion was achieved after the
company's rebranding and the birth of the Rado name. In 1962, after
lengthy experimentation with new-age materials including tungsten and
titanium carbide, Rado produced the scratch-resistant Diastar. Through
continuous innovation, today's Rado watches are made of ceramic. The
patented ceramic is formed by mixing various powders, binding agents
and color additives into pressed molds that are fired and polished to
an adamantine luster with diamond powder.

A Lange & Sohne LANGE 31 Watch : http://www.watches-world.net/LANGE_31.html

A. Lange & Söhne was first established in 1845 by Ferdinand
Adolph Lange in the little known town of Glasshutte (near Dresden in
Saxony). Today it is the registered trademark of Lange Uhren GmbH. The
firm established itself as makers of distinctive and fine timepieces -
its pocket watches were prized by European gentry. Following the
Second World War, in 1948, the Lange factory was seized by what was
then East Germany. Walter Lange, the company's heir fled. It was only
after the German reunification in 1990, that the founder's great
grandson, Walter Lange, began reviving the company. With funding from
LVMH, the newly reformed company set out to restore its fine
watchmaking tradition. The company was sold to the luxury conglomerate
Richemont in July 2000. Although its watch parts may be cut with
exceptional precision by the most advanced computer-aided machine
tools, they are still finished, decorated and engraved by the skilled
hands of some of the world's finest watchmakers.

The Cartier name conjures up images of aspiration, wealth, royalty and
the finest of jewelry manufacturing. Cartier's wristwatches are no
exception. The Tank and Pasha are instantly recognizable the world
over. The Cartier dynasty has its beginnings in 1847, in Paris, by
Louis-Francois Cartier. Soon thereafter, Cartier was supplying the
royal French court. In 1874 Louis-Francois's son Alfred took the
reigns and helped to expand the venerable jeweler, adding watches to
the distinguished catalog of finery. In 1899, the third generation
Cartier, Louis, joined the enterprise. Cartier formed a joint venture
with Edward Jaeger - the Jaeger in Jaeger-LeCoultre - to produce
movements for Cartier. In addition, Cartier used the movements of
other esteemed watch manufacturers including Vacheron Constantin,
Audemars-Piguet, and Movado. Cartier continues to produce innovative
and stylistic watches and enjoys great popularity around the world.

Get a good granulated weed and feed like Scotts. Spread it out with a
broadcast spreader. Then spot treat with liquid sprays durring the
season. Don't use Roundup on the lawn, it kills grass. Make sure that
the weed killer you use is the right one for the weed you are trying to
kill. Usually you need one each for Crabgrass and broad leaf.

Probably put there to satisfy some local or federal regulation
at the time. It was probably classified as a trailer. After all,
it was towed to it's site.
