root <NoEMail@home.org>: Nov 02 10:55PM For decades finance.yahoo.com has provided (time delayed) stock quotes for tracking your portfolio. Yesterday this service was dropped, they say because some users were violating the terms of service. For now you can scrape the information you need from repeated calls to: https://finance.yahoo.com/quote/TEVA/ using TEVA as an example portfolio component. I'm not aware of alternative (free) sources for such data and would welcome any suggestions. BTW: one contributor to a forum on the subject at yahoo suggested the term of service that was being violated was that users were not viewing the ads. |

When you say "quote" do you mean market and size info or just the last tick? > calls to: > https://finance.yahoo.com/quote/TEVA/ > using TEVA as an example portfolio component. timely choice... what do you mean by "calls to:"? > I'm not aware of alternative (free) sources for such data and > would welcome any suggestions. There is no free lunch in this business. NASDAQ has a good site wherein you can access a lot of info for free but even that has a limit on free. You can get real time info http://www.nasdaq.com > BTW: one contributor to a forum on the subject at yahoo suggested > the term of service that was being violated was that users > were not viewing the ads. yahoo has one of the worst sites - you are plastered with ads and unwanted vids. I get it - they need to make a living but there are a ton of sites out there that can probably fill your needs. |
bob_bielow@no.email: Nov 02 05:29AM -0600 Walgreens has been doing a lot of advertising on tv for their flu shots that they claim anyone can get at their stores. Apparently they make a lot of money with these shots, to afford the high cost of tv advertising. I dont know about you, but I surely wont let some floozie at a Walgreens store give me a flu shot or any other shot or vaccine. If I want a shot of any sort, I want it administered by a licensed medical professional, such as my doctor. Not by some floozie who works at Walgreens or another pharmacy, and is likely getting paid minimum wage, because they are not trained to do much more than scrub the floor in that store. Dont be an idiot. If you want a flu shot, go to a real doctor. If that floozie at Walgreens does something wrong, or you are allergic to that shot, you wont have any medical professional there to save your life. They will ship you out of their store in a pine box, straight to the county morgue. |

I agree, don't be an idiot and post stupid stuff, bob-b. > The flu shot is given by the pharmacist (Phd) who is a training medical > professional. > /dan Thank you. All of the pharmacies have the pharmacist administering the injection. I think the troll, bob_b, has the screws in his neck too tight. What a moron. |
bob_bielow@no.email: Nov 02 08:23PM -0600 >The flu shot is given by the pharmacist (Phd) who is a training medical >professional. >/dan Now what I have seen. A local Walgreens had a woman who assists the pharmacist giving shots. I saw it myself. And a pharmacist is NOT a doctor. Yea, they are trained, but not as a doctor, only as a pharmacist. I always try to save money, but if I want a flu shot, I will go to a real doctor, wait in the waiting room, and pay the bill. At least I know I'm not being injected improperly or something else is not correct. Then again, I probably wont get the flu shot this year. Last year I didn't either. Everytime I have gotten it, I have gotten sick afterwards and still gotten the flu at a later date. My doctor admitted that they dont always make the shot for the correct flu strain, and said that if get a reaction to the shot, it's up to me if I want it or not. I appreciate the honesty, rather than just treat everyone the same while kissing butt to the companies that make them shots. |
gerogee@not.real.com: Nov 02 11:32AM -0500 >The flu shot is given by the pharmacist (Phd) who is a training medical >professional. >/dan Agreed about the pharmacist. Walgreens would never be giving shots if they didn't cover such a contingency as someone having a reaction. They'd get sued out of business if people started dropping like flies in their stores. I've gotten my flu shot for many years at Walgreens. It's free with no co-pay on my insurance. And I don't have to sit around for an hour in some doctor's office watching that daytime tv crap which plays on the tv sets all day long in a doctor's waiting room. |
