Weird. Most of my lights are upside down, in enclosed fixtures, and all of
the bulbs are CFL. I've never had one last less than 5 years, and most last
much, much longer.

Can you use a drying rack or string a line inside your house, at least
to partially dry your clothes? Do an extra spin cycle to help get more
water out. Every little bit helps, plus air drying makes things last
longer.

Nope, not enough rivers, they breed like flys.

i've read that your clothes remain germy until they're put in the dryer or
dried in sunlight.
even if you wash in hot water. i'd guess chlorine bleach would kill germs,
but you can't
use that on colors.
i dry my clothes on a medium setting. too hot isn't good for fabrics, plus
if it runs for an
hr on high, it costs more than on med and med for an hr is usually enough.

How will that save electricity? The bulb doesn't know or care that some
of the light it is producing gets blocked by a dirty fixture. It's
going to consume the same electricity either way.

Sorry -- I forgot to say also that an inexpensive solution might be to
get her a prepaid cell phone like a Tracfone or one of the others, pay
for at least several months of service, then when the bill collectors
call, tell them that she has a new phone number and give them that number.

A few years ago I kept getting calls for a person who I did not know.
The out of stare law firm calling insisted that I must know her because
she had given my number as a contact. They refused to believe that it
was either an error or intentional fraud. The calls stopped when I did a
google search , found the name of a senior partner in the firm and told
his secretary I was prepared to file a complaint with the local bar
association.

That kind of thinking - reasonable on the surface - leads to
conspiracy theories and innocent people in jail.

(snip long story)
You've gotten lots of advice, some of it good. If you have VOIP service,
log onto your account online, and add each bill collector's phone number to
the black list.
If you don't have VOIP, get it. Have your number transferred to the VOIP
line. THEN put each of the bill collector's numbers on the black
ist. -Dave

on a thinly related issue.. if you have a debt about to go past the
statute of limitations, some bogus over billed amount from a hospital
for instance (over billing is common... and people without insurance
get billed 2x or more than insurance companies on many cases)...and
you pay even one cent on it..the statute of limitations resets...
expect another 7 years of harrassment.
in that case a good button to learn how to use on yer cell phone is
the little red one, says 'end' on it.... but you must do it in the
first second or so before your blood pressure goes up.... just hold
the cell in your left hand and using your right index finger press
down on the button.

Keep the house more or less at outside tempurature, except in the
winter heat it to 45F or so... then sleep and read and watch da tee
veee in one room.... that one you keep heated and cooled with a
chinese window heat pump..... costs about $200 bucks.
then at night in the winter set its thermostat to 50F or so, and use a
matrress warmer.
if you want to run even cheaper in hot weather, put yer easy chair and
bed near the air conditioner and put the fan ON and set the thermostat
up to 78F or so... the breeze and dehumidified air will keep you cool.
If you want to save even more, insulate the windows with reflective
insulation about 1" thick.... blow some extra insulation into the
attic above the room, insulate the floor of the room under the
house.....and walk around free bird :).... coolness will ensue.
cheap.

We keep the A/C on 80F, sometimes 79F. Ceiling fans make that pretty

That's right. Why heat and cool places you don't use much.
But I spend a lot of time in the basement or outside.
My wife, who cooks, cleans house, etc, has other ideas about
how to heat and cool the house.

you are right about the electric heater for a room in cold climates..
heat pumps fade fast below 35F outside temps .. or so.
re the wife, maybe you can tell her she looks hot in thick socks, long

we're not sure what to do with you.'
'No problem, just let me in,' says the man.
'Well, I'd like to, but I have orders from higher up. What we'll do is have
you spend one day in hell and one in heaven. Then yo u can choose where to
spend eternity.'
'Really, I've made up my mind. I want to be in heaven,' says the senator.
'I'm sorry, but we have our rules.'
And with that, St. Peter escorts him to the
elevator and he goes down, down, down to hell. The doors open and he finds
himself in the middle of a green golf course. In the distance is a
clubhouse
and standing in front of it are all his friends and other politicians who
had
worked with him.
Everyone is very happy and in evening dress. They run to greet him, shake
his hand, and reminisce about the good times they had while getting rich at
the
expense of the people.
They play a friendly game of golf and then dine on lobster, caviar and
champagne.
Also present is the devil, who really is a very friendly guy who has a good
time dancing and telling jokes. They are having such a good time that
before
he realizes it, it is time to go.
Everyone gives him a hearty farewell and waves while the elevator rises...
The elevator goes up, up, up and the door reopens on heaven where St. Peter
is waiting for him.
'Now it's time to visit heaven.'
So, 24 hours pass
with the senator joining a group of contented souls moving from cloud to
cloud, playing the harp and singing. They have a good time and, before he
realizes it, the 24 hours have gone by and St. Peter returns.
'Well, then, you've spent a day in hell and another in heaven. Now choose
your eternity.'
The senator reflects for a minute, then he answers: 'Well, I would never
have said it before, I mean heaven has been delightful, but I think I would
be
better off in hell.'
So St. Peter escorts him to the elevator and he goes down, down, down to
hell.
Now the doors of the elevator open and he's in the middle of a barren land
covered with waste and garbage.
He sees all his friends, dressed in rags, picking up the trash and putting
it in black bags as more trash falls from above.
The devil comes over to him and puts his arm around
his shoulder. 'I don't understand,' stammers the senator. 'Yesterday I was
here and there was a golf course and clubhouse, and we ate lobster and
caviar, drank champagne, and danced and had a great time. Now there's just
a
wasteland full of garbage and my friends look miserable. What happened?'
The devil looks at him, smiles and says, 'Yesterday we were campaigning..
Today you voted.'

Don't count on getting your Puritan's Pride vitamins/supplements order
on time; in good condition, since their main method of shipping is UPS
(united parcel service)
UPS has repeatedly ignored instructions to require a signature to ensure
delivery to the right party, leaves stuff with neighbors anyways. My
last order of nutritional oils had to be thrown away because the UPS
driver left the stuff in the sun (on purpose I suspect, following my
complaints to UPS).
Faxes to the CEO of Puritan's Pride, Scott Rudolf (German SS? ha!) has
been ignored about this issue. Apparently, he does not give a sh*t.
If anyone knows a better supplier with better shipping please post here.

No, it's because the international worldwide Big Pharma
conspiracy has identified you as an enemy. Accelerating
the oxidation of your oils is how we are planning to
kill you. Sorry about that, but business concerns come
first. :-)

You're fairly lucky you can have even one.
Many years ago a woman in the adjacent city of Eagle had a little
banty for a pet. She had a small chicken house built of it to scale
that matched her own.
The neighbors got together and enforced the no livestock rule
and she had to get rid of it.

Having fun with Debitas
________________________________________
After having an all out argument with Capital One where my card was
used fraudulently - they decided because I take care of my card then
it MUST be my fault.
So they passed it over to Debitas who have written the normal
threatening letters, so I have written to them asking for the CCA etc.
They have been calling persistently now for weeks - so today I decided
to have some fun:
I need to point a couple of things out to those that haven't read the
whole thread
* I do not recognise the debt as mine, I didn't spend the money so I'm
not giving my good hard earned cash to capital one just because they
think I should be liable for the fraud that happened on my card
* I am taking the correct legal action against Debitas through post -
hence the reason I also refuse to deal with them on the phone
* CAB are seeking some legal advice on my behalf as to whether I can
use the recorded calls
* CAB are also seeking legal advice as to how I would claim against
them for harassment - CAB are adamant that they have breached several
codes of conduct
So, the serious bits are being taken care of - but for now, I'm still
gonna enjoy putting these bully boys in their place.
Debitas: Hello can I speak to Mr X
Me: You are
Debitas: Ok, can you confirm your date of birth
