For awhile I was selling Maxell XL-II 90's, mostly from 1995-2000, recorded on once and often only played once. Tapes in good condition can be reused and also the parts can be used to restore older tapes.
 
VHS is mostly junk though unless you have something rare/private (like a filmed event not broadcast).
