And a very big percentage are crazy. We used to keep them in locked wards.

Let me tell you a horror story:

My girlfriend is losing her job this week because...

She works with this lady doctor, and the lady doctor has a brother
who's a psychiatrist right in the same office, and this cuckoo doctor
was savagely attacked by a patient, but made it anyway. The patient
pays the bond of $7K and now everybody is running for cover.

He's not homeless but he's dangerous to society just the same. I think
you should go out with an axe or pepper spray at the very least.

(I leave the axe at home)

I will propose to my girlfriend that she carries the axe to work
tomorrow. They are a bunch of people and with the axe they may be able
to overwhelm and chop off his head if necessary.

The lawyer told him if he had used a gun in self defense his odds
would have been 50/50. The doctor is retiring now and doesn't want to
hear anymore about psychiatry.

It may be bloody scene if something happens.

London's reputation greatly exceeds its actual facilities, many if not
most of the bike lanes in London are less than 3' wide, stop without
warning, and frequently have cars parked quite legally in them. NYC
bike lanes have the parked cars problem, but at least in NYC it is
technically illegal to park in a bike lane. If you look at lines on a
map London has better facilities, but if you look at lines on the
streets NYC has it by a mile (1.6 km). See http://www.crapwalthamforest.blogspot.com/
and http://bristolcars.blogspot.com/ for actual onsite depictions of
real London bike facilities.

I don't understand... How long are NYC's bike lanes compared to
London's?

It's difficult to rate by the number of miles and perhaps the actual
respect for cyclists is the ultimate measure of success. And where's
the enforcement in all of this?

Well, I went hunting for information in the above the links and came
out with this revolutionary declaration. It seems like whatever bike
facilities they throw at us have been either "sabotaged" or simply
have been the product of stupid design:

The People's Cycling Front of South Gloucestershire is online!

The People's Cycling Front of South Gloucestershire, henceforth known
as The Cycling Front, is now online.

We shall fight the council for bike paths and lanes that are usable,
that do not have bollards and pillars in the middle of them.

Bike paths that do not have South Gloucestershire council vans in the
middle of them.

Bike paths that do not abandon you at roundabout junctions when it
gets too hard for whatever idiot designs bicycle routes in the
council, they throw their hands in the air and say "somehow they will
get across alive (probably)."

We are a group of people who work in secret, who do not waste our time
being patronised by the council at their so-called cycle forum
meetings.

We will act on the streets, to achieve our dream "bicycle paths that
people from the netherlands won't laugh at"

What will we do? We shall embarrass the council into action, by
showing the world what pretends to be a cycle city infrastructure, and
taking into our own hands to fix what they are clearly incapable of
caring about or fixing.

We shall overthrow the council, if that is what it takes!

To South Gloucestershire Council we say this: fear us

***

If the Dutch came here, they would find our bike facilities very funny
indeed. ;)

No, it was Hammurabi's Law that was lifted by the Jews who claimed it
as their own, then the Christians stole it from the Jews, claiming it

Indeed, but it's certainly (free) the cheapest. The text transcripts of
the voicemail alone are worth the price of admission.

The 99-Cents-Only Stores (at least in California) sell 99-minute cards
for 99 cents. Good for 90 (or more likely 99) days. I used those
before GV arrived.

No, it can't be that important. Otherwise people wouldn't waste in
trucks and motorboats just to show off.

A wise man would ride a bike to save for important stuff.

I could be wrong but I don't know any cell phone plans that charge extra
for domestic long distance. That is purely a landline concept.

"Phone Power" and similar services are not computer based.

Thanks for clarifying that Phone Power and Skype do not necessarily
require a computer. I'll look into that. Right now I don't want to
spend $80 for PP so that is out, but maybe Skpe, or maybe PagePlus or
one of the major carriers has a plan that will work for us.

Okay, so I looked up PagePlusCellular's $30/mo plan and I have some
questions: (probably dumb questions but I really have never gotten
into the whole cell phone culture):

They say "Standard rates will apply for roaming, international voice,
international text and premium SMS. If you use more than the included
minutes/messages/data in this plan, you will be charged the overage
rates listed below. "

So : roaming. When would I be roaming? Is that any time I use the
phone outside my area code or ? Because here in L.A. where there are 3
or 4 area codes that could add up pretty easily at I think they said
an extra 10 cents a minute...

And these 1200 minutes - does that include the minutes when others
CALL US, or is that just when we call OUT?

Straight talk a wallmart cell phone, comes standard with unlimited
phone text picture message and internet, free computerized 411:( the
computerized 411 is less than useless and I didnt try the internet.
around here straighttalk is on verizon network and works fine.

NET 10 is my new cell provider:) around here its more reliable than
verizon.

50 bucks a month unlimited everything, phone text internet 411 with a
human being picture messaging too. although I havent tried the
internet access.

you buy the 50 buck card and the only added expense is sales tax.

verizons 10 buck friends and family add $8.86 in taxes and fees, call
it 9 bucks, almoost doubling the cost for friends and family
members.......

Net 10 appears to use the AT&T cell network around here which by my
testing is far better than verizons, way fewer dropped call areas.

I got pissed at verizon I started getting these dating texts from the
wierd number 70 705. they were interesting and I am getting divorced
so it was OK.

Out of curosity I finally sent a text back WHO ARE YOU, and got a
response in spanish.

the next day I got a text informing me I was now subbed to the 10 buck
a month premium message service.

The verizon CSR said I will take that off your bill they shouldnt of
done that! and blocked it so it couldnt happen again.

But I never got a text you have unsubbed so a few days later I called
back and the rep said yes your unsubbed.....

Then I asked the service ending question:)

Did this company need verizons permission to do this?

sir verizon partnered with them........:(:(:( partnered wth a spammer?

Thats why I am going to net 10.... verizon drove me away. I was with
them for over 15 years.....

No. PagePlus uses the Verizon Wireless cell phone network. You
are roaming anytime you are off that network. You could be
in New York on the Verizon network and _not_ be roaming.

Where did you come up with that? Phone Power with a 12 month contract
only costs $35.12 to start up. That includes your first month of
service and the shipping cost of the phone power ATA.

I got it here.
So I guess there're different ways to sign up... It's all rather
complicated... I'll have to look at it to understand the different
options I suppose...

He said, among so many other lies, that homeless in America don't have
bikes. How does he know if lives in the Outback?

Well, he just made it up. I bet you the two major groups that ride
bikes in the cities are HOMELESS & IMMIGRANTS. When that is the case,
you are often treated like one of them, and sometimes it takes a
trained eye to tell them apart. One such difference --besides the
quality of the bike-- is that real cyclists ride on the road whenever
possible while the survivors stick to the sidewalks. Then there's a
conflict between pedestrian and bicycle where the pedestrian has the
most to lose. I tell pedestrians, "Hey, I'm sorry to be here but it's
a jungle out there."

As a rule I treat sidewalk riders as low life people and people like
Rod Speed --who doesn't even like cycling-- deserve scorn and
ridicule. He better tell us something we don't know about Australia.

Many more are kids who cant legally drive, and those who cant

Mindlessly silly with those who ride for exercise.

Depends on whether its legal or not.

It's legal in 99% of places.

The cops don't give a damn that you ride on sidewalks, unless you ride
in certain exclusive areas where it is expressly banned. I only know
one such area --very exclusive-- and no bike lane of any kind on the
road!

Let me tell you something I witnessed today: Very select area --Jewish
town-- so much so that kids ride alone --kids are afraid to ride alone
everywhere-- and this black guy comes barreling down at 15mph --he
almost hit me-- and nobody cared. They all ride on sidewalks so that's
part of the culture.

Not until we impound bikes on sidewalks while providing space on the
road we will be talking about civilization.

I've never seen a homeless person with a bike. By and large, such
possessions are a hindrance to them. For the working poor bikes are not
uncommon. Holding on to them is hard though.

In general, the USian police have "better" things to do than protect the

Me neither. Some had them during the great depression apparently.

And for those who have lost their license too.

Nope.

They mostly dont 'protect' many at all, just respond to reports of crime
and try to work out who did it etc.

In that sense they do 'protect' the homeless in the sense
of attempting to catch and lock up those that kill them etc.

nothing)

'The protests, billed as a "Day of Rage, were fueled by anger over
corruption, chronic unemployment and shoddy public services.

"We want a good life like human beings, not like animals," said Khalil
Ibrahim, 44, one of about 3,000 protesters in the capital Baghdad.

Like many Iraqis, he railed against a government that locks itself in
the highly fortified Green Zone, home to the parliament and the U.S.
Embassy, and is viewed by most of its citizens as more interested in
personal gain than public service.'

I knew it would come to prove that democracy is not the solution. Hey,
a tyrant is not the solution either and you can't live without
FREEDOM. This is the important word, but so is the word SOLUTIONS, so
the Revolution is about the FREEDOM & SOLUTIONS.

A guy from Libya called in the radio the other day and said that what
Libya --and the whole Arab world-- needed was MUTUAL AID. In case you
don't remember who proposed it, I quote this:

'If we ... ask Nature: "who are the fittest: those who are continually
at war with each other, or those who support one another?" we at once
see that those animals which acquire habits of MUTUAL AID are
undoubtedly the fittest. They have more chances to survive, and they
attain, in their respective classes, the highest development of
intelligence and bodily organization.' -Peter Kropotkin

He was a prince who became a humble wise man and rejected HIERARCHY as
signaled the King of the Jungle, today visually evident in SUVs and
Green Zones. The vehicle of liberation is the bicycle. Hey, scooters
too!

-------------------------------------------------------------

THE REVOLUTION IS ABOUT SOLUTIONS

(Notice some of these ideas may be practical to you. HAPPY SURVIVAL!)

You don't get it, do you? The American people have been enlaved by Big
Oil, and the Wise TibetanMonkey brings the humble bike as the vehicle
of liberation.

When was the last time you rode a bike in your community without
fear?

"Freedom in the West means Freedom from Oil." -Wise TibetanMonkey aka
Comandante Banana

Rod Speed's mindless brain is located between his junk and his anus. Look
