Maybe he's not allowed out in public. Reminds me of the episode of
the Simpson's where Homer winds up in the psychiatric hospital. In
the day room, while he's making a phone call, you could see all the
speed dial buttons on the phone: Opra, Geraldo, Jerry Springer, etc.

So lets all panic and keep out mouths shut? If some folks are not
capable of filtering their own input media properly, too bad if they
miss things.

I can easily just delete posts without blocking people. The point is, if no
one would respond to the trolls, they might stop. They're just looking for
attention, which we shouldn't give them by responding. They aren't looking
for dialogue, they're the newsnet equivalent of the shock jocks.

That's generally true, but who can resist sometimes wanting to get his
or her story out? And sometimes the line between a troll and a part
time dope is not that clear. I find it easy enough to bypass what I
don't want and decide on a daily basis. Some groups have been all but
ruined by Chinese spammers and the M5 posters. It's like weathering a
passing storm until they relent and we can go back to normal.

Actually, it's common and should be obvious -

Before you link with spam such as this - "An analysis by Google found that 10% of all web pages are equipped to secretly download spyware and other malicious code on user's computers. These downloads can steal login and password information, install unwanted bookmarks and toolbars, and even damage operating systems."

Okay. I was wondering how you'd come to your emphasis on attacking the
person, as opposed to their ideas (and, incidentally, your example made it
sound like you were doing the insult-hurling at strangers). I see it's
because it's more important to attempt to kick the person you don't agree
with than to try to persuade them over to your POV, which as I'm sure you
realize is usually only accomplished with kindness and respect.

Incidentally, it's highly likely that a lot of the people whose views you
disagree with think silence is assent, too. But it's not necessarily true.
Sometimes it's more effective to quietly just turn away and go take some
action. I see your typical posting style as simply turning up that
rapidly-increasing volume you are so weary at. Creating the very thing you
don't want.

I can't recycle my pringle boxes because they are lined with metallic

it's not real metallic; and yes you can recycle those as cardboard.

Friend has had a stack washer dryer for over 16 years with no problem.
However, the tub is small - hence, more frequent use. She'd rather
have a bigger washer, but the over and under fit perfectly in their
closet, so she'll never change.

That said, I wonder how long you will probably be in that rental unit?
Worth buying a w and d? It might be easier on a single guy to just
drop off his laundry - check out the price per pound in your area for
wash dry and fold - you might come to love the convenience. It ain't
all about saving a buck here and there. Single guys I know don't want
to mess with laundry any more than they have to.
