Actually a small one is sometimes handier to carry

I will have to take a look at it!

Understood..... but have NOTHING now.... no TV or
Internet at home...so anything will be better

Yep could do that as well..... and might

But was just curious what kind of 'programming" .....
if any..... could come straight form the Net thereby
bypassing off air reception and TV card hardware.

Sounds possible but limited in quantity and quality

Interesting thanks!

Question.... if I bought say a big 22" or 24" inch
monitor..... would that make watching IPTV any easier
form a distance such as setting on a couch 8 feet away?

Also.... anyway to get rid of the ads around the video
and make the image full screen?

I'd go for one of the USB digital TV tuners in your situation myself.

I prefer to do that multichannel and record TV to the hard drive
so I can watch it whenever I like. I watch almost nothing live now.
That approach needs some serious hard drive space tho.

certainly. I use a 24 inch monitor seven feet away and often
shrink the tv 'window' because it's too big.

On many videos, double click the image to increase the
size. Sign up at joost.com and get their player. gives
excellent full screen video

http://joost.com

And tons
of quality free content.

Some other sites with good full screen are hulu.com,
veoh.com, abc.com, and Fox, http://www.fox.com/fod/
the divX format show at stage6.com are full screen, too.

IMO, the best of both worlds for your new PC is to use
for graphics a card with built in TV/FM tuner. Use the
tuner for local OTA TV and FM. Use the internet to
get shows and movies *on demand*. The tuner
feature of a graphics card doesn't add much to the cost
and is well worth while.

Life is important...last time I looked you only get so much...no more.

Which of course is reserved to those who live in "desirable" real estate
markets. No, you are not full of yourself. Snotty is as snotty does: it
inflates worthless desert real estate values if nothing else (as long as
someone is willing to export water to it). Otherwise, sothern california

No. You can buy plastic bags that have some plastic and some corn and
will break down into small plastic pieces in the landfill.

I buy garbage bags that fit my rather large kitchen can. The cans
in other rooms receive clean paper and plastic products and do
not require liners. I dump all of the cans throughout the house
into one bag, or into the kitchen can if it's not too full when I'm
ready
to take out the trash. The bags get put into an outdoor trash can
with
a secure-fitting lid (to foil the raccoons) and I bring that can to
the curbside
on garbage day.

> Then do you have to scrub out the various household cans?

Why would you feel it necessary to scrub the can in, say, the
bedroom, which receives (in my house, at least), mainly dry
(unrecyclable) paper and plastic?

I get paper bags and the grocery store and re-use them until they're
falling
apart, at which time I place recyclable glossy paper (which must be
separated from newsprint hereabouts) into them and put them out with
the recycling.

Books, video games, stocking stuffers, no big ticket items as we don't
do that for Christmas. I'd like to think we celebrate the religious
holiday more than the corporate greed fest.

Nothing unusual. Never been into the 'present' scam, so didnt bother with any of those.

I do like Xmas food, so ate some of that while its available.

Our Xmas is in summer, so enjoyed summer fruit, but that has nothing to do with Xmas.

Fuck geico's piece of shit ads.

Here are examples of geico ads which I fucking hate because they are so
fucking stupid:

1. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BSPXpc5N6Kg -- this ad depicts the 50s
or before when [obviously] there was no such thing as geico or their
stinkin car insurance

2. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Em-b0wQzQ-0 -- asshole celebrity
"mashed potatoes woohoo!" Howd ya like some mashed potatoes up your
stinky ass, you disheveled shithole?!

There is also another geico ad that I hate with a passion which I wasn't
able to find. It's a black and white ad depicting the old days when
there was no internet. That ad talks about some guy who went poor and
started hunting deer for food. It then shows that he somehow makes a lot
of money. There is critic in the background who says "I was initially
skeptical of this claim". This ad then show the main character going
onto a computer [!!!!!!!] and the internet [what the fuck!!!!] and
changing his car insurance to Geico. WTFuck is wrong with Geico, they
were depicting a time when computers and internet were absent yet they
show someone in that time going onto a PC and accessing the net! This is
so fucking stupid and annoying! It is blatantly idiotic and pisses me
off. I feel like burning those involved in producing that advertisement.
I want to torch their skin until it blisters into white foam. Stupid
assholish sick fucks deserve to burn in hell for the annoyance they cause.

I'd rather watch their old cavemen ads for an hour than a second of the
ads I mentioned above.

I lay a curse on those geico fuckheads:

In your next incarnation you'll all be satan's bitches!

Well, I wouldn't call it a business. I would call it a gamble, and some
gambles are closer to a scam than a business.

As much as I detest the notion of government-sponsored health care, I
have to concede that if health care was treated as a not-for-profit
business, the cost of health care would certainly plummet.

I agree.

You are a fool not to be covered for catastophic...it can happen to

I have know a number of young people whose financial futures were
