Fine. Tell us this "Completely trivial" scheme to put your deposits into banks
that are GUARANTEED against bank failures, inflation, and devaluation. If
that's too hard, try for 2 out of 3.

You are now putting unreasonable and implausible new limitations on your
previous claims. There is no way to GUARANTEE the source of the goods a person
buys over several years, or even one year. There is no way to GUARANTEE that
any country will to continue to [not] peg their currency against the US dollar,
"loosely" or otherwise.

Never said a word about any country's fiscal health.

If you plan to spend much of what you retire with in a particular country,
even someone as stupid as you should be able to work out how to move
an appropriate percentage of what you retire with to that country so you
dont care what happens to the currency relativitys with that particular country.

Well, they probably shouldn't assume, but that's a bit harsh. I bet a lot
of people wait until they're out of checks before they order, and if they're
going to pay the bills they need a new batch as soon as possible. And it's
obvious that some people prefer gen-u-wine leather to vinyl. So the extra
price isn't for "essentially nothing".

What I don't understand is why you'd need another "book". When a pad of
checks is used up, you slip the backing from the old pad out of the book and
put in a new pad. You can continue this process with a new batch of checks,
there's no need for a new book unless the old one has worn out. Come to
think of it, that might be a reason to get leather - it would probably last
longer than vinyl and end up costing less in the long run.

I'd gone my whole life without any of those new fangled service - no call
waiting, no caller id, etc. - though I did upgrade to touch tone a couple of
decades ago. Recently we switched to FiOS and got, among other things,
caller id. I'm surprised at how much I like it. Maybe call waiting and
three way would be the same.

Who or What is Rod Speed?

Rod Speed is an entirely modern phenomenon. Essentially, Rod
Speed is an insecure and worthless individual who has discovered
he can enhance his own self-esteem in his own eyes by playing "the
big, hard man" on the InterNet.

Rod is believed to be from Australia.

Rod certainly posts a lot. Why is that?

It relates back to the point about boosting his own self esteem by
what amounts to effectively having a wank in public. Rod's
personality, as exemplified by his posts, means he is practically
unemployable which means he sits around at home all day festering
away and getting worse and worse. This means he posts more and
more try and boost the old failing self esteem. Being unemployed
also means he as a lot of time on his hands to post in he first
place.

But maybe Rod really is a very clever and knowledgable person?

Clever? His posts wouldn't support that theory. As far as being
knowledgable, well, Rod has posted to various aus newsgroups
including invest, comms, and politics. He has posted to all as a
self professed "expert" and flames any and all who disagree with
him. Logically, here's no way any single individual could be
more than a jack of all trades across such a wide spread of
subject matter.

But maybe Rod really is an expert in some areas?

Possibly. However, his "bedside manner" prevents him from being
taken seriously by most normal people. Also, he has damaged his
credibility in areas where he might know what he's on about by
shooting his self in the foot in areas where he does not. For
example, in the case of subject matter such as politics, even a
view held by Albert Einstein cannot be little more than an
opinion and to vociferously denigrate an opposing opinion is
simply small mindedness and bigotry, the kind of which Einstein
himself fought against his whole life.

What is Rod Speed's main modus operandi?

Simple! He shoots off a half brained opinion in response to any
other post and touts that opinion as fact. When challenged, he
responds with vociferous and rabid denigration. He has an
instantly recognisable set of schoolboy put downs limited pretty

The fact that Rod has been unable to come up with any new insults

But why do so many people respond to Rod in turn?

It has to do with effrontery and a lack of logic. Most people
who post have some basis of reason for what they write and when
Rod retorts with his usual denigration and derision they respond
emotionally rather than logically. It's like a teacher in a
class room who has a misbehaving pupil. The teacher challenges
the pupil to explain himself and the student responds with "***
off, Big Nose!" Even thought the teacher has a fairly normal
proboscis, he gets a dent in his self-esteem and might resort to
an emotional repsonse like "yeah? well your *** wouldn't fill a
pop rivet, punk", which merely invites some oneupmanship from the
naughty pupil. Of course, the teacher should not have justified
the initial comment with a response, especially in front of the
class. The correct response was "please report to the
headmaster's office right NOW!"

What is a "RodBot"?

Some respondents in aus.invest built a "virtual Rod" which was
indiscernable from the "real" Rod. Net users could enter an
opinion or even a fact and the RoDBot would tell them they were
pathetic lying schoolboys who should be able to do better or some
equally pithy Rod Speedism.

Are you saying that Rod Speed is a Troll?

Looks as if it is time to repost the pitiful work history of Rod
Speed.
He has had a total of one job as an adult.
A fast food place made the mistake of hiring him. He was moved from
the register because he could not handle public contact (customers
rarely enjoy being called fuckwits) and was moved to the fry grill.
He dropped a burger. The manager said "no problem, we all make
mistakes". Rod went into a tantrum and blamed the manager because, as we
know, he is never wrong.
He was then given the job of cleaning the rest rooms. He was fired
when , rather than scrub a toilet, he kept flushing it while yelling
""reams of puerile shit flushed down the toilet".
This all happened before lunch on the first day.
Rod has never had a another job. Keep in mind when one starts a new
job these things happen:
Your boss tells you what to do- Rod can never bear that.
You have questions-Rod never admits to not knowing everything.
You make a mistake-Rod can never admit to one.

Ever since then Rod has been on the dole. The check comes twice a
month and near the end of the cycle his posts make it obvious that the
meds have run out.
Each new case worker at the welfare office is assigned to Rod. They
keep hoping that a new person is hired to take over his case.

In his 1948 book, Sexual Behavior in the Human Male, Alfred Kinsey
shocked the world by announcing that 10% of the male population is
gay. A 1993 Janus Report estimated that nine percent of men and five

women who are homosexual. The average estimates were that 21% of men
are gay and 22% of women are lesbians. In fact, roughly a quarter of
the public thinks more than 25% of men and 25% of women are
homosexual.

How Many Homosexuals ???

Some claim gays only make up 1% of the population, which would be
about 2.7 million citizens. Considering 500,000 attended the gay pride
day in New York City (police estimate gays claimed 700,000), this
would mean 1 in every 5 gays living in the United States
attended...including 3 year olds and 90 year olds. Obviously that is
absurd, only a very small percentage of the total gay population would
be active enough to go to New York for the event!

The government study which showed 1.534% was not confidential but
verbal in person interviews. With all the anti gay feelings in the
U.S. what makes you think someone would admit to a government worker,
in person, they were gay. What is amazing is that they did get 1%
admittance. What makes the study even more ridiculous is it was
conducted in two towns, both in states with anti-sodomy laws and
consisted of only 3,371 people, all men! ...

The best guess of actual homosexuality in the U.S. population is
probably 10%, again since it is likely in all these studies many will
not admit their homosexual activities in our society that falsely
teaches there is something wrong with homosexuality, which is simply a
natural sexual orientation God gave many people..

Regardless of whether the number is 2% or 20%, the issue is to end
discrimination and the false religious teachings that there is
anything wrong with someone simply because they have a natural
homosexual or bisexual gender orientation.

Remember Jews are only 2% of the U.S. population, far less than the
homosexual population. Yet no one is running around tying to make laws
to discriminate against Jews. Homosexuals should likewise not be
discriminated against, simply because God created them with a sexual
orientation that is offensive to perhaps 80% of the population.
