Unless you are Paris Hilton bestowed with a fortune, you should direct
your focus to more natural stretch mark removal methods instead of
laser treatment for stretch marks. The latter is expensive and time
consuming, not mentioning the risk involved in it.

Why White Supremacists Support Barack Obama

How do racists, anti-Semites and all-purpose hate-mongers view the
possibility of America's first black president? Not necessarily the
way you think they would.

By David Peisner

If recent polls are to be believed, white voters favor John McCain
over Barack Obama by nearly ten percentage points, but the McCain and
Obama camps probably haven't factored in the following fact: In an
informal Esquire survey, three out of four white supremacists prefer
Obama, while McCain is the clear favorite among black nationalists.
(Sure, our methodology suffered from an extraordinarily low sample
size -- limited to four white supremacists and one black nationalist
-- but just because it wouldn't fly with Gallup doesn't mean there
ain't a kernel of truth in there.) This is just one of many surprising
views that emerged after we talked to extremists about this historic
electoral showdown between a 46-year-old black man and a 71-year-old
white man.

Tom Metzger

Who: Director, White Aryan Resistance: www.resist.com
Likes: White people, karaoke, environmentalists
Dislikes: Race-mixing, Jews, the federal government, capitalism
Career Highlights: Was Grand Dragon of Ku Klux Klan in the 70s; won
the Democratic primary during his bid for Congress in 1980; appeared
on the episode of Geraldo Rivera's show in 1988 when Rivera's nose was
broken in a brawl.

"The corporations are running things now, so it's not going to make
much difference who's in there, but McCain would be much worse. He's a
warmonger. He's a scary, scary person -- more dangerous than Bush.
Obama, according to his book, Dreams Of My Father, is a racist and I
have no problem with black racists. I've got the quote right here: 'I
found a solace in nursing a pervasive sense of grievance and animosity
against my mother's white race.' The problem with Obama is he's being
dishonest about his racial views. I'd respect him if he'd just come
out and say, 'Yeah, I'm a black racist.' I don't hate black people. I
just think it's in the best interest of the races to be separated as
much as possible. See, I'm a leftist. I'm not a rightist. I hate the
transnational corporations far more than any black person."

Erich Gliebe

Who: Chairman, National Alliance: www.natvan.com
Likes: Third Reich, the movie Rocky
Dislikes: integration, Jewish-controlled media
Career Highlights: Turning white-power record label, Resistance
Records, into a million-dollar-a-year business juggernaut; an 8-0
record as a professional boxer under the nickname, "The Aryan
Barbarian."

"Obama might be a better candidate for our cause because he's racially
conscious. One of our big things in the National Alliance is to raise
the racial consciousness of our people. Young whites in universities,
they've been stripped of any kind of racial identity. Obama may be a
racist in a positive sense for his people -- that will awaken a lot of
the whites, knock some sense into them. They'll see that non-white
Americans are allowed to be proud of who they are, to be racially
conscious, to talk about their people or their community without being
attacked as being racist. Let's face it, white people aren't going to
fight for their causes, for their kind with a white president. I don't
think McCain even acknowledges that a white race exists. He's all
about granting amnesty to illegal aliens. The fact he wants to keep us
in wars in the Middle East for 100 years, that's not a good thing. I
give Obama credit, he seems to have stuck to his guns as far as
pulling the troops out of Iraq. He's a very intelligent man, an
excellent speaker and has charisma. John McCain offers none of that.
Perhaps the best thing for the white race is to have a black
president. My only problem with Obama is perhaps he's not black
enough."

Ron Edwards

Who: Imperial Wizard, Imperial Klans of America: www.kkkk.net
Likes: Guns, bed sheets, burning crosses
Dislikes: Black people, homosexuals, immigrants
Career Highlights: Sued in 2007 by the Southern Poverty Law Center for
inciting the brutal beating of a Latino teenager; building the IKA
into one of the nation's largest Klan groups by allowing non-
Christians to join.

"Obama, I think he's a piece of shit. I don't care that his mother was
white. I don't think he has enough brains to do anything good. All
he's living off of is the color of his skin to get elected. I don't
think America wants a black president. Most of them are too afraid to
say that they believe the way I believe. They sit around their dinner
table and talk the way I do, but when they get out in public, they
have two faces and show the other face. When people are voting in the
booth privately, they'll vote Republican even if they're a Democrat.
If he wins, I'll laugh. I don't like McCain, but he's the only one I
can vote for. He's against a lot of the things that I'm for. I'm
afraid that he's going to mess with gun laws. But I'm going Republican
and I talked to my guys and most of them are voting for McCain too."

Yahanna

Who: General, Israelite School Of Universal Practical Knowledge
Likes: Segregation
Dislikes: White oppressors, black women, American culture, Muslims,
Christians, Martin Luther King Jr.

Career Highlights: Featured in 1999 BBC program about black
supremacists; his street corner rants in Washington D.C. spurred
changes in the local noise ordinance.

"Finding out Barack Obama is the Democratic nominee for president was
one of the saddest days in black history. Another legacy of black
death is about to begin, just like it began back in the '60s with
probably the greatest traitor to black people in modern-day history,
Martin Luther King. Every black leader that has some form of power has
given black people false hope, when in fact, the closer they get to
the white establishment, the more they become an actual enemy to black
people. Black people need to move away from the establishment and
towards a moral change. As for Obama, first of all, he's not even a
black man in the terms of what real black people consider a black man.
He's of African and white descent. How easily he dismissed his
affiliation with Reverend Wright, was a clear indication that this is
a politician, not a man of any real conviction. The same way he threw
away that Reverend, once he becomes president, he must throw away
black people. He's going to have to harm black people to make white
people satisfied that he's not Reverend Wright's boy. The
disappointment we're going to suffer from him is going to set us back
another fifty years. McCain is definitely the better shot for black
people."

Rocky Suhayda

Who: Chairman, American Nazi Party: www.americannaziparty.com
Likes: Hitler, white people
Dislikes: Jews, immigrants, multinational corporations
Career highlights: Being widely quoted bemoaning in the fact that so
few Aryan-Americans had the cojones of the 9/11 hijackers: "If we were
one-tenth as serious, we might start getting somewhere."

"White people are faced with either a negro or a total nutter who
happens to have a pale face. Personally I'd prefer the negro. National
Socialists are not mindless haters. Here, I see a white man, who is
almost dead, who declares he wants to fight endless wars around the
globe to make the world safe for Judeo-capitalist exploitation, who
supports the invasion of America by illegals -- basically a
continuation of the last eight years of Emperor Bush. Then, we have a
black man, who loves his own kind, belongs to a Black-Nationalist
religion, is married to a black women -- when usually negroes who have
'made it' immediately land a white spouse as a kind of prize -- that's
the kind of negro that I can respect. Any time that a prominent person
embraces their racial heritage in a positive manner, it's good for all
racially minded folks. Besides, America cares nothing for the
interests of the white American worker, while having a love affair
with just about every non-white on planet Earth. It'd be poetic
justice to have a non-white as titular chief over this decaying modern
Sodom and Gomorrah."

Seems you have heard of the phrase *the Bradley effect*. A lot of white
people talk a line of bullshit before the election but when they get to
the polling booth they remember something etched in stone. A whiteman
doesn't vote for a tarbaby. This is the Bradley effect.

Thanks Loren...I appreciate the thought but I'm on the left coast :)
I figured I'd stick with some long time companies in the area
(including one that has the same last name as mine, it's unique so I
chose them mainly for novelties sake). What I find odd is that
there's plenty of reviews for "stuff" like electronics and other
household gadgets on sites like epinions.com and also websites that
have "space" for reviews but they rarely have any. One thing that
might be preventing these reviews is having to create an account to
log on? Angie's List did quite a bit of marketing so it's more well
known I suppose. I just don't care for the "paid account" requirement
to post reviews.

I used servicemagic to find the guy who fixed my furnace.
I didn't even notice the reviews before I had him come in, but they're
there.
Still working on getting my good review for him in there.
I had done the review on the site before they sent the linked e-mail
to do the review, The review process isn't too user friendly if you
jump the gun, as I did because it all happened very fast.
I probably should have waited for the linked e-mail that asked me to
do the rating.
Your post prompted me to use the link on the first e-mail servicemagic
sent me, to find the reviews. Mine isn't there, so I've asked them
for help getting it in there.
Here's how servicemagic works - or did for me.
You fill in a basic form, including your zip and phone number.
It returns 3 contractors, with their contact info.
I didn't notice a way to look at the reviews right then.
Shortly thereafter you get an e-mail with a "Project Guide" link.
Following that link will allow you to read the customer reviews of
the 3 contractors. You check a "rate" box under the contractor and
click on his name to see the reviews.
Pretty good really. The reviews aren't verifiable as if a neighbor
gave the recommendation, but they seem genuine. Didn't see enough of
them to be sure though.
But here's how the process actually worked for me.
The initial web form barely came back with the 3 contractors, and the
phone rang. Since the guy didn't immediately make clear his business,
my wife guessed it was a spam call, and got rid of him, telling him
nobody was home and try a bit later.
As soon as she hung up the second guy called, and she yelled down the
stairs at me, "Hey, are you expecting furnace guys to call here?"
Hell, I was still looking at the returned e-form. I thought it was my
kids calling.
So I talked to second guy and scheduled him to come out the next day.
He worked out real good.
The first guy called back in half an hour, and I told him flat out
what happened, and recommended he make sure he identify himself right
off when calling. That's life.
The third contractor never called.
Anyway, the furnace was already fixed before I even noticed the e-mail
with the "Project Guide" link.
Probably came about the same time the contractors were calling me.
I asked the guy who did my work, and he said he gets a text message
from servicemagic with the customer's phone number as soon as the web
form is completed. Automation is all over the place.
So you might have to put the contractors off until you get a chance
to read the reviews. I didn't see any way to delay them calling.
Servicemagic seems a pretty good option to get contractor reviews,
but you should expect calls.
If I knew about the reviews I would have just told these guys I'd call
them back after reading the reviews. Not a big deal.
You should be able to get local roofer reviews using servicemagic.
Probably won't get price until the roofer comes out and bid on the
job, but the reviews might guide you on who you have bid on the job.
I want to make clear I'm not endorsing servicemagic, because I just
don't know enough about it.
But I'll probably use them next time a contractor is called for and I
don't have a good lead. Better than throwing darts at a phone book.
Personally I prefer word-of-mouth recommendations, but they're not
foolproof either.
I had my roof done about 5 years ago, and I got the roofer by getting
his card as his crew was doing a job a couple miles from my house.
I asked if he had local references and he asked me how many I wanted.
I didn't bother checking any, as I trusted him and his price was in
the ballpark. Worked out well.
About a year later a guy I worked with and who lived not far from me
told me about the hassle he was having getting this SOB roofer out to
fix something that was screwed up from the roofing job.
Turned out to be my roofer!
My workmate has a split level, while I have a ranch.
Maybe the guy has trouble doing gullleys. Or maybe not.
Most things aren't as clear cut as we want.

Back in July, there was a discussion about how to insulate windows against the cold.

Now that fall weather has arrived, has anyone tried the solar blankets or the Carol Wright "solar curtains?"

We caulked around the outside of our windows in the summer, and have done so for the inside recently. Still cold.

Thanks for any insight,

I think that will be most effective against solar heat gain. That may
be a mixed bag at keeping the room warm. At least that's the case with a
friend who has metallic curtains.

I've been using bubble wrap on windows that benefit from solar gain,
reflectic (foiled bubble wrap) or polyisocyanuraturate sheets cut to fit
in windows I don't look out. On some, I've even just stuffed in some
more conventional insulation.

On windows I need to look out of I've made some interior "storm
windows" out of vinyl shower curtain liner. Transparent and durable.

All this has made a huge improvement in heat loss, but it may not be
aesthetically satisfactory to some (or most).

I have an old house though, and a lot of windows, so I needed to do
something.

I'm looking at magnetic storm windows.

You can do it yourself, with a kit. You install a metal strip around
the window, buy plexiglas cut to fit and install magnetic molding
around the plexiglas. The magentic fit should keep it airtight, and
the plexiglas itself has better thermal resistance than glass.
Magnetite is what I am looking at.

1,585,000 Cribs Recalled Due To Entrapment And Suffocation Hazards

If you own a crib made by Delta, you'll want to check the model number
to see if it is included in two massive recalls announced by the CPSC
today. None of the cribs are currently being sold in stores, but were
available from major retailers including Walmart, Kmart and Target.com
from January 1995 through September 2007 for about $100.

The recalls involve two types of cribs. The first is for 600,000 drop
side cribs. The CPSC says that the crib's drop side can detach when
the spring peg is not engaged, which can cause an entrapment and
suffocation risk to infants and toddlers. One death has been reported.

The second is for 985,000 cribs that can be put together without the
safety pegs. "CPSC staff is aware of a death of an 8-month-old child
who became entrapped and suffocated when the drop side of the crib
detached in a reassembled crib where the safety pegs were not
installed. CPSC is also aware of two entrapments and nine
disengagement incidents in cribs where the safety pegs were missing."

A full list of the model numbers affected by the recall can be found
at the links below. To get your repair kit, contact Delta at (800)
816-5304 anytime after 5 pm today or log on www.cribrecallcenter.com

(I posted this in rec.arts.comics.strips)

.....is a strip where the kid doesn't get an allowance, he/she has to
do EXTRA chores, after the regular share of chores has been done, if
money is desired.

What's so shocking about that, even when times are prosperous? That's
how the adult world works, after all - you only get paid to do someone
else's work. Just because most American parents don't do that doesn't
mean it's a bad idea. After all, kids could always refuse to do the
extra chores, and whenever they want money, they could earn as much as
they want - albeit slowly. Whereas with an allowance, lazy kids fall
into the habit of spending it and then moping helplessly for a week
while they wait for the next "payment."

Granted, the mothers in "Stone Soup" or "Heart of the City" would be
likely candidates for imposing the former system, but I've yet to see
them say "you want it, you earn it" more than, say, once a year. Not
to mention I thought it was outrageous when, in "Zits," (I think it
was in the book "Jeremy & Mom") Connie Duncan bursts in and starts
yelling at Jeremy about his cell phone/texting bill and Jeremy simply
nods gravely at the right times without mentally hearing a word, since
he knows she'll calm down and hug him eventually. Did it ever occur to
Connie that none of this would happen if HE had to work and pay for
every little personal luxury that can easily get out of control? I
think there could be plenty of humorous situations under those rules,
whether or not other parents start to follow suit, because Jeremy and
friends can always grouse to each other, after all. Besides, if the
kid doesn't like the parental pay rate, there are always the minimum-
wage jobs out there to apply for.

(I then explained who Amy Dacyczyn is, the book she wrote, and how
she said: "If my kids don't want it something enough to work for it,
why should I?" and "Kids take better care of things when they earn
them; they understand that trinket X = Y hours of work (many adults
don't); and they are happier knowing that they can earn more money
whenever they please instead of waiting for allowances and
birthdays.")

Dont forget who will be picking your nursing home.

The sort of nursing home that that approach will produce.

No it isnt.

I get paid for the use of my money.

Much better to put them down the coal mines.

Plenty still have the same problem when they do get to work and pay for everything.

You wont be laughing when he picks the nursing home.

Specially in the coal mines.

I don't follow. Are you saying that many teens can't control their
spending even when they work for all their money? Maybe. However, at
least Connie would have no cause to yell at Jeremy if it were HIS
earned money we were talking about - but in that strip, she was
yelling clearly because the bill was going to her and Dad.

Lenona.

Yep.

No maybe about it.

Yep, only a fool does it like that.

TOPIC: replacing the blower motor on my car

Back in May I noticed that our car's blower was squealing whenever I
put it on the high setting. I was unable to remove the blower (it is a
squirrel cage type) because the alternator is too close, so I simply
made a vampire tap (drilled a hole) on the front of the motor casing,
and squirted in some WD-40. The squealing stopped for a while, then
came back. Over the next few months, the fan seemed to be slowly dying,
but it worked ok on low or medium without any noise.

This morning, my wife went to take the kids to school, and the fan
wouldn't work at all. I guess it had finally given up the ghost. Of
course, this means that the defroster no longer works, and we can't
really heat the car or anything, so it needs fixed.

I was able to get a replacement for $26 at Auto Zone. The problem is
that I was only able to remove the old one by pulling it apart on the
way out. (I.E. - ripping apart the wires & such that hold it together)

It seems like they stuck the squirrel cage/centrifugal blower casing
right behind the alternator to make it almost impossible for most folks
to replace this on their own. If there was simply 3/4" more clearance,
I could simply pop it in with 5 metal screws securing it.

Instead, if I can't figure out how to get past this, the $26 repair
will probably cost more than $100. This is very aggravating, because
from records I find online, this would have been a simple 10 minute
repair job on most cars from the 1980's or earlier, with no clearance
problems.

Anyone know how to move an alternator up and out of the way on a 1996
Buick Century? (or where I might be able to find some helpful info on
something like that?) Thanks!

Ask at rec.autos.tech. But if it close to being like most of the
similar GM's I've done, it goes like this:
Turn the tensioner to loosen and disconnect the serpentine belt from
the alt pulley.
Use a wrench or maybe a pry bar. Be careful you don't break anything
with the pry bar.
Remove a couple bolts to move the alt.
If you have mess with the wiring to the alt, or there's the chance of
it shorting anywhere on the engine, disconnect the battery first.
Reverse the process after you replace the blower motor.
If you disconnected the battery, you might have to "relearn"
the electronics.
You can look that up, or ask at rec.autos.tech.
Don't hold me responsible if you mess something up.
Just be careful and know what you're doing before you start.
