These activities aren't necessarily non-productive but they do cost
money in lost wages. :) It's a decision people make to use time for
themselves or trade it for money. Just because you aren't getting
paid for that time doesn't make it worthless.

In fact, a lot of people value this time even more than the time they
spend working because they use it to spend with their families, loved
ones or doing something they are passionate about. They're willing to
give up the money in exchange for having this time for their own use.

So, thinking your time outside of a paying job is worthless is really
selling yourself short.

I'm not a landlord (and so don't have tenants). But, a good friend
worked for an apartment management company for several years, and
based on what I've heard through my friend, the employees of the
management company seem to get a lot of training on how they should
behave in order to avoid lawsuits or legal troubles related to the
Fair Housing Act.

And, you may remember that craigslist.org was the target of a lawsuit
about the same thing (even though it was eventually dismissed):
http://www.craigslist.org/about/fair.housing.html

My point is that while thinking about how to vet tenants, it might
be prudent to think about how to avoid anything that could even be
mistakenly perceived as discriminatory.

Automotive anti-seize compounds should not be used for potable water
connections, due to the presence of petroleum distillates and metals
such as nickel or molybdenum.

I drink a popular Oriental beverage that has instant coffee, sugar and
a whitener-thickener in a pack. I heat up a mug of hot water in the
microwave or I heat up two cups in a kettle, two cups because I need
to submerge the element. Somehow I get the feeling that the microwave
uses more energy/watts. Any idea if this is so?

I don't have an answer for you except to say that it probably doesn't
matter. Even if one of them uses twice, or three times, the energy
as the other, they're both still using so little energy that they
won't hardly show on a power bill.

Myself, if I were to drink hot beverages, I would probably go with
the microwave because it's more convenient and there's no kettle
to mess with.

Perhaps you should be looking into solar cookers instead?

Tests have shown that those whose levels are particularly low are in
for a long depressive episode and may find that their bodies do not
respond well to regular antidepressant medications because of this
missed vitamin. George
