I expect they don't....it's even more amazing how many have the
default Nokia or Motorola ring...and then multiple people go for the
phone when it goes off in a store...heheh.

I use the European one with the double ring. It gets the funniest reactions.

It's an LG Fusic, Wireless provider is sprint. Service is new
as of June. I would say that qualifies as a newer phone.
Check out some of the chatter on line about this phone. There
is general anger at sprint for locking out the ability to
download custom mp3 ringers.

Yes it has a USB cable and I can transfer mp3's into the phone,
because the phone is also a music player. But I can't use
the downloaded mp3s as ringers. The ringers are actually
held in a hidden folder in the phone. I can access the folder
using Bitpim, but I can't add content to it. Bitpim indicates
that the folder is locked and it can't do a thing about it.
There also is a workaround that uses Bitpim to replace a ringer
that is already in the folder. Now that we established that...

I did probe the web site. YOu do have to give your phone number
so that you can receive the text message that allows you to
actually download the ringer. But I pulled the PHP code and
the javascript and examined them. THere doesn't apear to be
any code in there that saves your information.

But if you are paranoid, don't use it.

I'm so frugal, I didn't know and don't even know how to "PAY" for a
ring tone.

Unfortunatly this phone has only about 12 default ringers and none
of them sound like a landline. In fact, half of them sound like
doorbells.

I have a ringer that sounds like a train at a railroad crossing.
But my wife wouldn't let me use it.

That's also my problem. I'd much prefer a simple "land line" ring, but
it's not one that's offered.

It's not that hard if you are not carefull. Esp with one of these
newer phones that are web enabled. I clicked on an ad for "free
ringtones" Then I was about to click on another link when I read the
fine print. It said somthing like "By clicking this link you agree to
be billed $9.95 each month on your wireless bill until you figure
out how to unsubscribe from our service"

Completely trivial for anyone to check whether those claims are true or not
once they have their nose rubbed in which area that problem occurs in, fuckwit.

Even someone as stupid as you should be able to work out what they pay and
that that blows that stupid claim in the subject line completely out of the water.

I'm sure they've done a ton of studies, focus groups, etc showing that
people don't protest/react as much if they reduce the conent of the
box vs increasing the box.

Although its a funny way to sell something IMO.

If you go to a restaurant, they fill the coke all the way to the top
of the glass. Or the french fries at mcdonalds, they stuff them to the
top of the cardboard carton they come in. If you went to sizzler and
they started to fill your coke up to 60% of the top of the glass, I'm
sure people would really complain. You do buy it by weight, but
"hiding it" or concealing what you're getting is what gets people
annoyed and upset.

It sort of reminds me of the music industry and the old "buy a CD with
14 songs but you only want one or two good ones." There's sort of a
"pain" there or annoyance. Then a better solution comes along with the
itunes store, 99 cent songs and the old model dies.

I think a similar thing could happen here.

I think Ellen Degeneres did a comedy special (on hbo?) about how they
package chips, and she wished they packed chips, the way they pack
pickles, lol.

Stopped at a restaurant one time where I ordered a "large" drink & my
wife ordered a "small". Hers came in a small glass, mine in a larger
glass with a very thick wall. Out of curiosity, I requested a glass of
water to compare the volume.. The "small" actually held marginally more
volume than the "large".

Of course the trick to ordering drinks at fast food places is to ask
without ice. The drink components are already cooled, rarely needing
ice, unless you just want a diluted drink.

A 25 year old young man was able to make savings of $2,644 on his car
insurance premium. What did he do? Is it possible for you to get such
savings too? If so, how?

Check http://www.dpreview.com for info on digital cameras. I shoot
thousands of photos on a typical one week trip and how my digital camera
stores them is of no interest to me. I just download them into iPhoto on
my Mac and let it sort out how they're organized. The latest iPhoto
sorts photos into folders called "events" and it does this based on the
date the folder was taken. It works great!
