One can "superheat" water in a microwave oven. Demonstrated here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1_OXM4mr_i0

As soon as you move it or put something in it the water boils and drops in
temperature.

Percolators in essence boil water and pour it over the grounds. They are a
lovely way to have bitter oily coffee.

I'm going to feed the troll; one of the simplest ways to achieve
hot water is a pan or kettle on the stove. Patience! Let it
come to a boil. Another solution the use of a microwave oven
to heat water to a boil.

They aren't going to throw you in the ovens. You can work, can't you? As long as you can shine shoes or get the master a drink, you'll be fine. Sprain an ankle or break an arm, then they might put you down.

Why? Are you collecting them? Just go with boric acid. Cheap and basically non-poisonous.

I had a friend whose apartment was crawling with roaches. It was disgusting, they were everywhere. And they were so brazen that they didn't run when you turned on the lights.

She tried everything, traps and sprays and baits. I made her give me ten bucks, I went to the hardware store and bought two bottles (one for my home). I dusted all the good spots and let the magic begin. After a couple of days they just started dropping to the floor. Click, click... click, click. a few times a day she'd sweep them into a dustpan (there were lots of them). I talked to the landlord and convinced him to allow me to dust all the apartments. A week or s later the building had no more roaches.

An extremely obese 30+ year old woman lost 541lbs using Nutrisystem.
According to investigators at the scene, she lost around 500 of those
pounds immediately after her tongue fell out of her mouth and dropped to
the floor. This occurred immediately after she devoured a triple
Nutrisystem meal.

Minutes later, she died. Doctors said that she died because of the
Nutrisystem destroying body tissue, which is the cause of her 500 lb
tongue becoming detached and falling out of her mouth.

A bit less than a month ago a car ran through my yard, knocking dowm a
chainlink fence, damaging a building, etc. I finally got a sheriff report.
Driver unknown. Insurance unknown. Keys were in ignition in car after it
was abandoned in my yard. Car reported stolen hours after 'accident'.

My insurance agent tells me car isurance companies are not responsible for
any damage caused by the insured car if stolen. The car was 2014 Dodge
owned by a Mexican woman so was likely insured because it was ptobably
still being paid for.

Was the car really stolen or 'borrowed' by an acquaintance or child?

So I'm out the repairs - ~$500 - because that is my homeowner's insurance
deductable. It's not worth following up for that much - suing owner,
whatever - I'd probably lose anyway.

Evidently the insurance companies are among the 1%. And I'm definitely not!

If that what the insurance agent said, you need to find a new insurance
company.

The car has to have liability on it, which covers the owner/main driver, if
it's borrowed to a friend, family member or anyone else including a thief.

I think the main problem you have is it's a wash if all you have is $500 in
damages. They won't bother doing a claim if that is your deductable.

You do know you pay that deductable no matter who is at fault or what the
circumstances are, right? They can waive it sometimes, usually if both
parties are insured by the same company and one of the parties are at 100%
fault, but that is a coin-toss decision.

Don't assume your insurance agent is correct. The fact that the keys were in the car at the scene suggests the owner has some liability, and therefore her liability insurance should reimburse you 100% of your losses. Your homeowner's policy and it's deductible would not come into play.

Regardless of the theft report, the owner has responsibility under the "dangerous instrumentality" doctrine. That means the owner has to take reasonable care to prevent the car from being misused. The presence of the keys is at least prima facie evidence that she's breached her responsibility. They didn't just magically appear. In fact she may have broken the law. The vehicle code in many (most?) states specifically prohibits leaving keys in an unattended vehicle. It's worth checking. And of course just because she reported it stolen doesn't mean she didn't loan it to a friend or family member and is just covering up for them. If it were me I'd file the claim against her insurance company (you can get it from the police report) and see where it goes. Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

AFAIK, that kind of thing has never been deductible, for obvious reasons.
And even if you did deduct it, then you'd have to also report it as income
to yourself, negating it.

In 2014 and 2015 I never counted that. As far as I am concerned I am still poor, the rest is either working capital or savings.

There are books out there, like JK Lasser, that give some good advice

that are available? Usually complexity is a function of what you're

I've tried to make facebook as close to usenet as I can, but with
minimal success. I see posts only from friends and friends of friends
(you never can tell, and I've "met" some good people who are friends of
friends), and the friends are pretty much usenet people and actual RL
friends/relatives. Still, it's difficult or impossible to carry on an
actual conversation because you are frequently unable to get back to
posts once you've left them.

Didn't Facebook define "social media"?

I have no experience with FB so your preceding paragraph confuses
me Harry. It seems to me what you describe is exactly what
usenet is/was. Someone posts something and, thereafter, anyone
can toss in a comment.

TRB uses Facebook, and from what I understand you create an account
and form a network of "friends". Your posts are sent to your
friends, and their posts are sent to you. From this description
it seems that someone like Rod Speed would be shut out of
such a network. How would you ever see Hitler if you hadn't
friended him?

sci.astro.research is an example of a usenet news group with
intelligence. The intelligence is filtered by the moderator
who is a hero in my mind.

After posting my response, I googled for "internet discussion sites"
and found, among others, a Wikipedia description of "internet forums",
which seems exactly what you want Harry. Check out mathoverflow.net
for an example. Note the discrepancy between the number of views
and the number of responses to any given thread.

I got this guy to do my taxes. Ended up pretty close to what I expected, but he did it and I didn't pull my hair out by the roots. Then, for the next few years I just followed what he did and did the same. The laws don't change that much, and neither did I. Repeat after a few years.

Now I use an on-line service. Easy-peasey. They do have advanced service where you can talk to someone. But I find the simpler program works better than I need.

As far as talking to an IRS agent... WTF!!! It's like talking to your pickpocket, "How much are you taking? Should I leave all my money in my purse or should I put some in my bra? What do you guys like, small or big bills?" Get someone on your side, don't discuss strategy with your opponent.

Sorry, Harry, "usenet" is the sum of my experience with social

>Twitter -
>Donald Trump is on twitter. Need I say more????
I recall an interview heard on NPR's Morning Edition some time
shortly after the birth of twitter in which two young men who were in
some way associated with it tried, in many ways, to express that
"twitter" is so-named because it is intended for twits, without actually
_using_ the term. IIRC, they described it as being for that person who
interrupts ones day with a useless telephone call to chat about what
_he's_ doing or interrupts it with a pointless sms message, that is to
say: A twit.

>Where did this universe take the side track to stupidland???
Well, you asked. As I see it: Post WWII public education,
culminating in Captain Kangaroo, Mr. Rodgers, et al. "Miss June" not so
much because Romper Room was a regional franchise with different parts
of the country seeing different "Miss Junes". Sesame Street was the
final nail.

My income has quadrupled in the past few years so I need to figure out how to pay less and how to figure out what's expenses n stuff.

Well,if your income has quadrupled then you shouldn't mind paying
for someones time who can give you expert advice on how to pay
less in taxes. Or you could just file as you've always done and
pay Uncle Sam through the nose in taxes and save that money you
would have given to an adviser to help you save a bit of moola.

A good tax adviser is worth their weight in gold. It's a no
brainer.

I still don't know how the hell I did it and it all seems so fleeting so I want to save as much as possible and try to determine exactly what is income and what can be deducted. Like when I walk the mile to the UPS store to send something and back etc. In 2014 and 2015 I never counted that. As far as I am concerned I am still poor, the rest is either working capital or savings.

I might look into a tax consultant. I can't believe I don't already know any.

December is brutal so far so I might be making less than I initially thought.

I love America! I just wish I would have figured out how easy it is to make money a lot earlier, I would be a millionaire right now.
