Thats mainly the result of very little evolution happening anymore.

We are even silly enough to assist those whose genes would normally die out to procreate.

However, someone who has sold very few items and got one negative could
easily have a 93 or lower feedback score. A friend of mine sells less than
10 items a year. She recently had one non-paying bidder who refused to pay,
claiming that he never placed the bid. She followed all the rules and
eventually filed an unpaid item strike. The non-paying bidder then left her
negative feedback, but, as the seller, she could not leave a negative for
him. So, he still has a 100% positive rating while hers is currently south
of 90%. The new "improved" feedback rules have made eBay feedback less than
useless. Why on earth is someone who chose not to complete a transaction
allowed to leave feedback at all?

Yeah, my main idea is to clear things out, plus get a few bucks to go
to the movies or whatever. I've been very surprised that some things I
listed at a buck or two didn't get any answers at all. I guess it all
depends on how large of a metropolitan area you live in, and how active
people are locally.

I wish there was some way to have your postings listed in nearby
markets. For example, I'm only about 35 minutes from the North side of
Cincinnati, but my posts are limited to Dayton/Springfield.

>93 would be a piss-poor ebay feedback rating,

Sorry, my mistake. I had a 100% feedback rating, but only 93 total
feedbacks. (sales) Ebay decided you had to have at least 100 sales in
order to keep selling without taking Paypal/credit cards. Probably now
they just force everybody.

I just got tired of the higher and higher fees, then forcing me to do
things ways I didn't want.

The 2nd to last straw was when they really increased fees on DVD's.

The LAST straw was when they decided to tell me how much I was going
to be reimbursed for shipping DVD's. Has anyone even looked at that?
It costs me about 20 to 25% MORE than they now allow to ship a DVD,
including the packaging materials. That is for media mail shipping,
which is fairly inexpensive. I have no idea why they think I would take
a loss in order to sell on there.

What are you talking about? I live in New York State, and I could run a
posting on craigslist for cincinatti, if I wanted to. -Dave

Well yet one more reason to avoid ebay. I haven't sold anything on ebay in
quite a while. My feedback is just shy of 100, and I'd NEVER accept paypal
as a payment method. I'd never accept credit cards, either. -Dave

You'll have to stagger your ads so the "multi-listing police" don't shut you
down, but you can list alternate weeks or alternate "stuff" on the Cincinnati
board.

What stops you from putting an ad on the main Cincinnati Craigslist?
Considering the number of ads I see for stuff not local on Craigslist I
don't see why you couldn't post something on another Craigslist that is
actually local.

Only a guess, but I assume Ebay got sick of people charging inflated
shipping to get around final value fees. Things like Buy It Now for $1 on
a $15 item, but charging $19.95 for $4 worth of shipping.

I think a better answer would be to charge final value fees on shipping
since Ebay doesn't seem to know how much it really costs to ship
something. The real cost to ship can also vary drastically depending on
the size of the shipper and the volume discounts they might get.

Umm, ok. You can't mail cash and you really think buyers would be willing to
go to the post office, buy a money order, mail it, and then have to wait for
it to arrive and be cashed before the item can ship? You're kidding, right?
And a personal check would take even longer, since it can take 10 business
days to clear. And how do you handle foreign transactions and currency
exchange?

If I can't do the entire transaction from my keyboard I don't want any part
of it. I think most buyers are like that, at least most of mine.

As I said earlier, sell locally and use craigslist. For buying, use a real
store.

Most of my buyers are more than willing to come to the house and pick up the
stuff. On occasion I'll deliver to theirs...

Costco no longer sells the eneloop or other LSD batteries, at least in
Northern California.

When they did, it was eight AA and two AAA and some adapters for C&D and
a charger, though for a brief period they sold just the battery assortment.

The eneloops also used to be sold at Wal-Mart, but no more.

See "http://tinyurl.com/eneloopthomas". $9.97 for four, but the shipping
is very high.

Amazing that these batteries seem to be about the only technology item
that's going _up_ in price.

I did see one Sanyo digital camera that came with two eneloop batteries
and a charger. Sanyo is actually the world's largest digital camera
manufacturer, but they mainly manufacture for other companies, and don't
sell much under their own brand.

You could google you know. Search for freeware OBDII scanners.

Here's what I found
http://freediag.sourceforge.net/
http://sourceforge.net/projects/scantool/
http://www.windmill.co.uk/obd.html

Someone let us know which of these work best for real time scanning of
engine diagnostics and OBD2 codes.

I just got our latest CompUSA catalog. Evidently we get that now instead
of the old TigerDirect catalog. It seems like the only thing that has
changed is the name on the front.

Anyway, I saw this on page 4, upper left hand corner of the catalog.

"Guaranteed Buyback Plans: New Technology Happens. You'll Be Ready When
It Does" *TM
- note that they have copyrights on "Guaranteed Buyback" and the phrase
about new technology

Then it goes on to say "from $19.98"

I went to the website and searched for "T20", as directed.

In a nutshell, you pay them, then you are allowed to return the product
to a third party for 'up to' 50% of what you paid, within the next two
years.

It's $30 for an LCD monitor, $50 for laptop over $1,000 and $30 for
laptop under $1,000
to participate in these 'plans'

What it actually gives you is this:

first 6 months: get 50% back
6-12 months: get 40% back
12-18 months: get 30% back
18-24 months: get 20% back

So you get to pay them extra $$, and in return, in 18 months you can get
LESS than you could if you put it up on eBay or Craigslist. I can't
imagine buying something so outdated that I can't do better than 20% of
what I paid in 18 months. If I used this with a $500 laptop, I'd only
get $100 back in 18 months - a loss of $400.

How about you - have you ever seen a "deal" more boneheaded than this?
If so, please share!

The market place will decide. Nobody is twisting any arms. People can
read and make a decision. All kinds of people purchase service
agreements for hundreds and in the case of vehicles, thousands, for
the peace of mind they get. Not everybody is adept at reselling items
on eBay or Craig's List. They want something on paper that they can
depend on even if it costs more.
Personally, I don't believe in warranties or service agreements. I'd
prefer things be sold at a discount without recourse beyond the first
few days. As Joe Gerard said, "There's an ass for every seat."

Why not write to Netflix, complimenting them on the excellent service, and
by-the-way ask how they do it?

"Bev", not "Barb". This is a common mistake. Curiously enough, my cousin
Barbara complained about being called Bev. Can you shed any light on this? I'm
really curious...

They're a very well-managed company. When you go to the website their
customer service page displays the expected wait time if you call
them.

BEFORE YOU PICK UP THE PHONE-- the info's on the website, updated in
real time. That's pretty smart and customer-friendly.

When I was a customer the turn-around time (from when I mailed to when
I received the next dvd) was almost always two days.

Brian fart maybe? I know you're Bev, and I know of a Barb here too,
Max's pal. They live in my "area."
But seriously, maybe because Barb is more common than Bev and it just
sort of falls in place when not thinking sharply.
Of course that doesn't explain what happens to your cousin Bev, Barb.
I got 3 DVDs today. Sent 3 Monday, got 3 Wednesday.
They should close the PO more often.
Larry suggested I compliment Netflix and ask them how they do it, but
I figure it's because Netflix has a nearby mailing address, as I saw
today. About 20 miles from me.
Netflix knows what they're doing, as they often send me an e-mail
asking when I shipped or received a vid.
If I tell them how good I think they are they might raise rates.

You're probably safe as long as Blockbuster offers a similar service. Better,
if you have a Blockbuster within walking distance and haven't seen pretty much
everything they have that you want to see.

Irrelevant to the ebay feedback system.

I might well buy stuff from a store where 7 out of 100 decided that
they would return items to the store, because quite a few of them
likely never intended to keep them and were just getting a free use
of the item, and plenty more didnt like the item for reasons that I
dont agree with them on.

Depends entirely on whether the item was readily available elsewhere.

I've sold a car, a boat, and numerous computer and electronic items on
craigslist. Time to sell varies with the item and the market...

If you just want to SELL something locally, and not try to "auction" it
nationally, craigslist works very well. No fees, either!

i see the same codes for misfires when people put antisieze on plugs they just
put in and the more is better so they think
leave the anti seize off the plugs the plug can't ground correctly

A take home message...If you dont have a career and life style that
involves you getting more effient in production *and what you give to
rest of life, *and how you advance your own intellect and
physiology.. etc... across broad spectrums, and breaking new ground
ideally.... you will devolve,

From this a person can easily fathom a list of evolutionary drivers,

No evidence supports that claim.

And that in spades.

Nope.

Thats mainly the result of very little evolution happening anymore.

We are even silly enough to assist those whose genes would normally die out to procreate.
