So TM is right. So what?

He has been posting the same old shit over over for at least a year now.
Every day it is a new posting on the same old subject. That is the sort of
thing that destroys small newsgroups. He is a spammer pure and simple. It is
irrelevant whether he is right or not. He is a crashing bore and a

You should have posted your above message as an original subject separate

I guess you weren't there when they were doing the lessons on teaching
to dummies. Repetition is the key to learning, over and over again
until it sinks in. One could post the same thing about you and your
use of swear words.

I take TM seriously because what he posts jibes with my observations
on my daily rides. I don't agree with his similes about jungles and
bananas, but his direct statements are factual and from my experience
truthful. Note that factual and truthful are not the same thing,
factual means testable in the real world, truthful means a fact that
has tested true under at least one circumstance.

You know there are also some cars that weigh as much as mid-sized SUV's.
Crown Vics/Grand Marquis , The Dodge Challenger, MB S-Class, Some
Cadillacs, and most pickup trucks as well. Yet you don't seem to be
demonizing them. Why is that?

I do a half flush or you can buy a toilet that features a half flush
handle.

Chances are the spray of bleach costs more than a flush-worth of water. And
if you take into account the water used in the manufacture and transport of
the bleach, it probably uses more water than a flush does as well.

HA HA HA
And that spray of bleach put chlorine vapor in the air you breathed no
matter how careful you were. Chlorine is very dangerous when used in
this way. Apparently, your health is not worth much.

I suspect the whole effort to be more about "feeling" effective
than it is about being effective.

I thought about that...

However, at this point it has been one spray in 4 days (mostly no odor, only
had odor once). At that rate I would not expect to use even a small bleach
container in a year. And I expect to save around $72 per year by not
flushing (for number 1).

Try using the old memory trick of tying a rubber band around your ding-
dong and snapping it really hard after finishing.

Remember the immortal words of Tom and Ray, the Car Talk guys. "It's
the man who seeks to save the most who ends up spending the most."
Truly being frugal also means being cautious of all the pitfalls.

Only from your perspective, but being the most inflexible and stubborn
person I have ever encountered and since this is your claim to fame
and a self-image that oddly enough matters to you, I am willing to
concede this your imaginary contest.

A conclusion that does not logically follow from the premise (logical
fallacy ... Non Sequitor)

So then, you have place your hat in the ring then, since you for sure

In your own words ... "I will admit I think I was stalking Tom Sherman

TYPICAL, more regurgitated, repetitious gibberish introduce and
discussed countless time before. Won't go down that road again with
you since is you who are close minded.

Everyone who disagrees with you are labeled wrongheaded. You are

argue so much. I cannot be pesuaded by a superior argument because
there is no such thing. I am superior to all and never wrong. Am I

I'm just telling you what others have told you over time. You weren't
missed any of the times you left, so why come back? Copy and paste is
not engaging others in discussion. You don't have discussions. You
proselytize. There is no give and take. With you, it is your way or

I read a home fire safety article recently and it inspired me to clean
the hot air exhaust vent on our clothes dryer. I also figured it would
help the appliance run more efficiently and cost us less money to use.

I used a wet/dry shop vacuum, but just doing the cleaning by hand
works really well too. I took pictures of the process and created a
quick guide.

Here's the gallery - http://www.paulstravelpictures.com/Clothes-Dryer-Exhaust-Vent-Lint-Cleaning-Guide

There were some small holes around the part of the hose that connects
to the outside vent, so I used metal HVAC duct tape to create a better
seal. That should prevent any of the hot air from entering the house
and making the air conditioner work harder.

I hope someone finds it to be useful.

Cheers,

That flexible vent tube you are using would be illegal in many parts
of the country including my state. It has been the source of numerous
dryer vent fires. You better keep cleaning it very regularly. Maybe
you are the last person to figure this out. Congrats!

Yes, that vent pipe and particularly the plactic vent pipes are a
no-no.

If you're going to go flex, use the "solid" aluminum flex.

Be very careful shopping at this store.
They murdered a shopper there at the Tucson location a couple years ago,
the staff subdued him and he died (they claim he was ripping off other
shoppers) They were nearly prosecuted for this. Additionally, know this:

1) They frequently sell products way past the expiration date and I have
personally found several spoiled products on purchasing, often a week or
more past the expiration date. 2) Their prices are frequently HIGHER not
LOWER, as they claim loudly, than their major competitors 3) They sell
off brand, frequently substandard food items, often something wrong with
them-poor taste, spoiled, separated ingredients, etc. 4) They frequently
do not have prices posted and often ring things up wrong at the
register. They place the wrong signs next to the wrong items, further
confusing the shopper. Unlike their competitors they will not refund the
full price of an item that misscans or is mispriced. 5)Their produce
comes from Mexico and is frequently low quality and on the verge of
being rotten. 6) Their staff is frequently rude, especially the
cashiers.

This is the bottom of the barrel as far as groceries go. Next lower on
the rung is the FOOD BANK.

I used to buy from them but have cut way back since I can find lower
priced better qualtiy food items at these stores all within approx 1km
of their location: Fry's, Safeway, Sunflower Markets. Tucson is loaded
with grocery supermarkets so there is no reason to put up with bad
practices. The only time I purchase from this store is the rare times
they have things at a serious discount from competitors-I estimate this
is the case in no more than 5% of their items, and then you must be
careful your not getting food that has some problem.

A couple decades ago, I was a programmer at a company that sold software
to calculate insurance premiums.

Is the agent proposing the exact same coverages your neighbor has on
their house? Do you have the exact same model and year of car, driven
a comparable amount, with drivers of comparable ages and genders? (You
mentioned that you've got some kids; if they're driving, they probably
cost more.) Do you both have the same pluses insurers look for (smoke
alarms? fire extinguishers? non-smokers?)

If the answer to all these questions is yes, then I would guess that
they've gotten a break for being long-time customers, or something.

But I'd bet lunch that the answer to all those questions _isn't_ yes. :)

H2 and CELL PHONE seem to go together to create the worst possible
combination out there, yet it's perfectly legal and practiced by la
creme de la creme in our society. For every driver that is drunk or
high, there are 100 killing time on the phone. And it's more dangerous
than DUI as proven by Mythbusters.

Thanks! The situation appears depressive but let me give two different
paths that perhaps offer a glimmer of hope. Here in Miami Beach 1,000
bikes are being launched onto the streets in a program similar to
Velib. No bike lanes or nothing, just share the road with cars. Let's
call it "SAFETY IN NUMBERS"...

http://decobike.com/deco-bike_program.php

I just visited Orlando and they are inaugurating an extensive Master
Plan with bike facilities, often separated from traffic and connecting
different parks...

http://www.outdoortravels.com/biking_fl_overview_orlando.php

What I believe we need is a NATIONAL MASTER PLAN and a combination of
the two systems above. We need every single road open and safe for
bikes. We also need sometimes the peace of mind of the trails.

Will it happen in our lifetime? Or will we trash the planet before we
have an opportunity to do something simple like riding a bike?

Too many industries to fight: THE AUTOMOBILE INDUSTRY, THE ACCIDENT
INDUSTRY (including lawyers), THE MEDICAL INDUSTRY, ETC, ETC. ;)

Although I share your sentient regarding cell phone usage and driving. I

SUV drivers are affected more by their use of the phone than by booze
or drugs. Don't dwell on the role of drugs in this particular accident
when the vehicle is a greater risk by virtue of their sheer size and
reckless drivers.

I'm trying to address the problem the SUVs present to all other
vehicles, including bikes and pedestrians.

I've been trying to "not flush" the toilet when I go number 1, but it is
automatic! I've flushed every time for years and I just automatically flush.

Anyway, after I stuck a reminder note on the handle, that did the trick...

And it mostly does not smell. Maybe because I have city chlorinated water?

One day it did smell a little, and I sprayed one spray of bleach in the bowl
and that did the trick.
