Whenever I get an unsolicited call I remind the caller that surly this is not what his/her mother had in mind. I remind the caller there are many of other jobs that pay just as well, that aren't so degrading, and don't carry the bad Karma that bothering people in their homes that soliciting calls carry. I invite the caller to join me in a prayer to have our Lord assist in finding them a better job.

It all takes less than two minutes, and when it comes to spreading some sunshine, two minutes is a small amount of time to spend on a fellow human.

Besides, now I get far fewer calls. When the solicitor ends the call in tears or quits their job before hanging up (as I request), then the supervisors are less likely to allow their employees to call me.
