Yep. Much easier for most of those in adjacent countrys
to get into Syria than for anyone to get into the US.

Yeah, I looked up his voting record. He's missed 20% of the votes
http://projects.washingtonpost.com/congress/110/house/vote-missers/ in all.
Eighth worst in the entire house. Truth is, Ron Paul never voted AT ALL on
20% of the things he should have.

Proclaims his devotion to the market place yet voted against
allowing Medicare to negotiate drug prices.

Could that be because the government has no business being in the healthcare
business???

That is not the point. As long as they are in it why not allow
negotiated prices, it works for the VA
By the way do you also oppose government funding of education?

Care to tell us how your education was financed. Unless you went to
private schools that received no government funding and you paid cash
one can assume the government paid for your education.

Nonsense. "The government" never paid a dime for his education, or yours, or
mine, or anyone else's. The *taxpayers* paid for it.

"Government money" is a myth.

If Ron Paul were elected President, my advice is to sell all
of your equity securities (stocks) and invest everything in
debt securities (bonds) because the stock market will drop
and interest rates will rise. IMRHO this guy is several

In fact I did go to a private school that received no public funding
and my parents still had to pay school taxes.
I have no real problem with public funding of education, it is the
government operation of the schools itself that is the problem

Lee County Florida public school system is taxing us $20,000 a student
(annual budget 1.7 billion) for a school system that still produces
mediocre results. The best private school in town is cheaper. The main
problem with the public school system, and education in general in the
US, is it is run by people who went to school at 4 or 5 years old and
never left.

Like I said, they have no credibility.

Do we execute people for not following a state religion?

No.

Do we systematically and throughout all levels of society impose social,
political and sexual oppression on women merely because they are women?

No.

And that's just two examples. The U.S. may have its shortcomings
(there's not a country on the planet that doesn't) but to say that Syria
is actually *better* is outright idiocy.

The United Nations is so corrupt, it makes our Congress look like a
choirboy convention. Nothing they say or do has any credibility
whatsoever.

Please elaborate on how you see this occurring.

And note that if the USA doesn't participate in the ICC, the ICC has no
legal jurisdiction over its citizens.

Speaking of creative ways to spend time and not waste money.... I
found that the cheapest place to get an oil change on DH's old BMW is
at the dealership. I wait until I have an appointment for the doctor
or financial guy or whatever in City X, about 90 minutes away. Parking
in City X is hard to find and very expensive. I make an appointment at
the dealership for about an hour before my appointment. I go to the
dealership, use their beautifully clean bathroom, book the car in,
make myself a latte from their high-end self-serve machine, get my
niece a hot chocolate if she's with me, and then have their shuttle
take me to my appointment. Afterwards, I have them pick me up to go
back to the dealership, and there's my car, all clean and shiny on the
outside from their complimentary carwash, all tidy on the inside from
the free vacuuming service, a nice cool bottle of free water in the
cup-holder. The cost, $29.95 + tax, is about the same as a day of
parking in City X. I take a look at the new BMW models, get a couple
of free Post-It pads from the sales area, have another latte, and head
home. They treat me like gold there. Once they found a burned out bulb
in the headlight and suggested new windshield wipers, but mostly, I'm
out of there for about $35.

I used to work in Sausalito, just over the Golden Gate Bridge from
SF. My office was north of the downtown area, In the summer parking
could be very hard. My bank gave 30 minutes of validated parking for
just walking in and showing them my ATM card.

There are so many people trying to work at home via the internet right
now that a lot of writers and aspiring writers are working for peanuts
and the market has really fallen apart for those who don't have
regular clients. I'm talking people working 50 hour weeks for $10,000
a year. Take a look at one of the online freelance writing sites. You
can bid for jobs and get a good idea of what is being offered. Some
people I know use

http://www.ifreelance.com/

I'm lucky to have a couple of regular clients in addition to my main
contract work, so I've never used the bidding sites, but if you have
time to polish your portfolio and spend some time working for very
litte, it might be a way to start.

Based on foreigners coming as a percentage of population, Syria is 20
times as attractive than the US. Must be all the freedom.

Hello to the group,
My child has a standing appt. in a town 20 miles from where we live.
I take him and then I wait the two hours he is there and we go home.
Trying to amuse myself for that two hours is sometimes a challenge.
Found myself going shopping way too much. So in the name of
frugality and all that is good for me I have started taking walks
during that timeframe.
Dawn, frugal and hopefully healthier.

You could also bring a newspaper. Read and clip coupons.
Improve your mind and your finaces at the same time.

Reading coupons is unlikely to improve your mind very much.

Likewise any potential fiance offering coupons in the paper is
unlikely to be much of an improvement over your present one.

They could also bring a book, perhaps even from the library. This
would be for those who take things literary. There are also MP3
players that can be found for less than $30 and audio books or
lectures. There are also portable video or dvd players, for folks
who prefer to just rent the movie.

I've found one of the more interesting ways to spend a little time
is striking up conversations with strangers.

That's because you changed your email address.

Any time a see a post in Spanish I create a message filter for the
person who sent it, as I will do with this one. I can create a message
filter in three clicks, so change your address as much as you want to.

That is the great thing about the First Amendment. They have the right
to post what they want and you have the right to ignore it.

English has always been the "native language" of the United States of
America, and will continue to be. Any immigrant to the United States
that wants to be a citizen, will be proficient in the English language.

UseNet is controlled by the reader.

That's what I'm going for, pendejo. Those extra three clicks. You have
nothing else to do. Lazy fool, plenty of time to click three times.

Cuantos tiempos por dia? eres una maravilla de pavada.

Pero eso es mi afición. Lo mas que tu protestas, lo mas feliz soy yo.

Naturalmente, gente.

Tres clicks for todos! Tres clicks for freedom of speech on usenet!

We actually had a buyer...and a house we wanted in central FL. But,
there were office politics with my transfer. And, I like my job [and
cover all our health benefits and retirement plans]. So, we felt it was
unwise to just up and move right now.

Wow, I paid much more than that 3 years ago in NH. Will you have a lot
of heating needs where you are now?

We just did a double cartridge filter. The RO took up too much space.
The freezer ice goes through a cartridge in the fridge. So far we are
alive and healthy. Water is increasingly a BIG issue. I miss my cold
clear northern well water. The whole city of West Palm has been on a
boil order. They even had the FBI in to investigate. But, they think
now it was a backflow issue from an illegal well. Hmm..

An IKEA is opening in Sunrise next week. I've never been to Sunrise,
but I will go now. I've never seen an IKEA but have gotten their
catalogues for years and I love some of their storage solutions and want
to buy a pullout pantry system. My little pantry has wire shelves and
is basically useless.

First I finish my kitchen. Then I finish my office. Then I do my
garden. I want some sort of raised bed system, but I haven't worked it
all out yet. I have to do a diagram for DH, in advance. Otherwise
he'll just think I'm a crazy lady.

Gardening is so damned upside down and backwards for me..a Northerner
transplanted to SoFL. I am definitely seasonally challenged here. The
planting season is starting now. And, I'm still waiting for Winter! LOL.

I've a friend from Guatemala who said she would help me set up my
garden. I think I am going to take her up on it. She's used to the
climate and will help me from making major errors.

We did a timeshare tour in West Palm Beach a few years ago.
It struck me that the water down there has a strong taste of diesel fuel
or something similar.

Well, I'm further south of West Palm. Thank goodness.
The water here is nasty compared to VT and NH. But, so far, it's
drinkable with filtering.

We might have 2 motorized dampers, fully-open or fully-closed, like this:

It's in the ball park, 1/4" drop per foot is standard, which would be 5" for 20
feet. I believe if the pipe is 4" or larger the slope can be less.

We'll have to find someone with a subscription who is willing to copy
everything or report it via email because Ohio Guy won't want to spend
money on anything or do anything for himself.

I have condemned G.W. Bush for many things, sometimes from the Right
and sometimes from the Left. Nevertheless, though I favor the death
penalty where murder is proven "beyond a shadow of a doubt," I find
him blameless in the case of Jose Modesto Medellin. Bush has been
cornered by an "International Court of Justice" packed with death
penalty opponents and by a US judiciary overly deferential to an ICJ
that has no standing under the US Constitution.
Bush has at least drawn the correct lesson from the case,
exercising his legal authority to withdraw the USA from ICJ
jurisdiction in future such cases.
