I got a better solution. You're whining about one AA battery that you replace maybe twice a year, costing you somewhat south of two bucks? The best solution would be to put the remote down and wipe the chip grease off your fingers, then stand up and manually change the channel! You don't need to do it every time, but if you did it half the time you'd save that precious AA battery AND you'd get a tad bit of exercise, saving you and society thousands in medical costs. Step away from the chalupa!
