Doesnt matter when you use nukes for power and hydrogen.

Seconded - I just did the same thing a little bit earlier than William.
I was traveling off-peak so I think my LIRR ticket was $5.25 or $5.50.
I actually connected at Penn Station to NJ Transit and went over to see
family.

If you want to be a _real_ tightwad, instead of taking the $5+ LIRR
train from Jamaica to Penn Station, you can take the MTA (subway) "E"
train, which is only about $2. The AirTrain also goes to Howard Beach
station (a little closer to JFK) where you can catch the MTA "A" train.
I used to take the "A" to near Wall Street and then take PATH over to
NJ.

I knew about that option but since I would have been getting on the
subway during the a.m. commute I opted for the LIRR. still had to stand
but had more breathing room.
Like you I head to NJ Transit, something that would not have been
feasible before they built the Secaucus transfer station (another topic
for another time).
By the way, it was my first trip on Jet Blue. I tool the red eye and
when I could not sleep I had Direct TV (individual monitors for each
seat) and satellite radio.

I hope you are right. I've been waiting with baited breath for many
decades and it stinks!
GM (Lutz the putz) is all gigity over their Volt to come out in 2010
for somewhere in the mid $30's (read $38K). The range with their
latest batteries is only 40 miles, same as the high school kid here
did with golf card lead batteries for $6,000.
Whatever they come up with or improve, the big companies will screw
the customer over one way or another.

Everything Lonnie Johnson does is interesting. He's been working on
proton membrane stirlings, has quite an interest in solar and has this:

http://www.excellatron.com/

It seems to me that a combo of the stirling and thin film lithium would
make a super high mileage hybrid. The lithium batteries he's developing
seem to me aimed at small scale devices, but I would think he has
something up his sleeve. The Tesla, after all runs on hundreds of
notebook batteries.

Cheers,
Jeff

I think that's a little harsh. How long did that kid's car take to charge?

The Volt is supposed to be a hybrid, with an onboard gasoline engine to
recharge the battery. As such, it should have a range comparable to any
"normal" car. And sure you can plug it in to recharge it overnight, but you
can also pull up to any gasoline pump and fillerup in a few minutes.
Mileage when running on gas is supposed to be in the 50 mpg range. Since
most cars are driven less than 40 miles a day, it offers the possibility
that many people would almost never have to buy a tank of gas.

The difference from current hybrids is that the gas engine doesn't drive the
wheels directly, it's there to charge the battery during use, and all motive
power is drawn from the battery. Think of a diesel-electric locomotive.

If putting batteries in cars can reduce overall energy use while maintaining
performance (no, not jack rabbit starts, but 300-400 miles per fill
up/charging, recharge times of a few minutes, warm in winter and cool in
summer, etc.) that's great, but batteries aren't sources of energy - the
energy still has to come from somewhere. In the US, that most likely means
electricity generated from burning coal.

Seems to me that while they are washing and folding, ya gotta be wearing
something else. Stop by once a week, drop off that week's laundry and pick
up last week's. No second trips needed.

Any suggestions ? Which Credit Card offers the best REWARDS ?

I am fedup with CapitalOne...I have a visa card with them. Their
security system is constantly flagging even tiny purchases and
refusing to allow the transaction to go thru. Like having an
unreliable car that is constantly breaking down.

As a result, I am looking for a new credit card with the BEST rewards-
preferably Cash back rewards.

I have excellent credit. Always pay the ENTIRE balance on the first
due date so interest rates etc are not important for me.

Any suggestions ?

Thanks,

I favor two - Chase / Visa which returns 3% of all gas, groceries & my
cable bill and A Bank of America Choice / Visa which returns 2% of all
else via points against Choice motel stays. I also have a Discover,
but rarely use it, except to get a 5% rebate on a few tanks of gas
during July - Sept ($20 maximum) and occasionally during the rest of the
year for similar 5% rebates (current quarter is for department stores,
home centers & garden centers). All are no fee.

Pentagon Federal Visa Platinum: 5% rebate on gas, 2% on groceries, 1.25%
on everything else.

I have a Citi Dividend card. 2% cash back at grocers, gas stations, etc.,
and 1% on everything else. It's decent and I don't really have any
significant problems with it. I certainly haven't had problems with
the fraud protection going haywire like you're describing with the
Capital One card.

They also have a bunch of extra discounts if you order from some online
retailers by going through the card's site or something. The discounts can
be from 3% up to as high as 6% or 7%. And some of the online retailers are
places you might actually buy from sometimes, like target.com (6%) and
overstock.com (4%). Hmm, and even giftcertificates.com (4%) -- seems like
I could buy myself a gift card and get 4% back on a whole slew of things,
although I've never tried it, and it would be rather tedious.

Oh, the cash back comes in the form of a check that you must request from
their web site (or phone). They mail you a real live check. For some
reason, you can't just have it credited to your account balance.

I have the Citi dividend card also, but it has a cap of $300 rewards per
year. So my favorite is the Chase Freedom rewards card. It doesn't have a
rewards limit, has online reward shopping deals AND if you wait until your
reward total is $200, you get $250. I've done that once and am just about
ready for my second $250.

Malls in general have been on the decline. Only those who won't

Malls and suburbs were built for the same reason: white flight. Middle class whites wanted
to avoid diversity. In Levittown NY, the prototypical suburb, every deed contained this
restriction, "not to permit the premises to be used or occupied by any
person other than members of the caucasian race." The feds made Levitt remove that
restriction after a few years, but it continued de facto. In the 60s, there wasn't a
single black student in the Levittown schools.

Now, it seems half of mall shoppers are not middle class white Americans.

In 1995, 38% of retail sales were in malls, In 2002, it fell below 20%.

Reminds me of the fear campaign when San Francisco enacted a ban. The

Subterranean termite colonies "randomly forage ' .
Areas close to water sources and or old dead trees have a better chance of
recruitment .
A lot of systems 'look' like Sentricon .
I am sure a label of the termite poison would clear up the issue .

************* HOT ************* NEW *********Program***************

My partner has a new program that can SUPER QUICKLY get someone $1m if
they have only $10k. Or get them $10m if they have $100k.
My partner does not normally like to spend time on conference calls
unless something is " VERY hot". He would like a 3way call with
you ASAP!! To explain this in an email would do the program an
injustice!
Send your contact info NOW!!

Do you know anyone with $1m, $10m or more??? We are associated
with special programs that can "super-multiply" $1m, $10m, $100m or
more. Some programs pay in as short as 10 days. The money stays in the
client's checking account - i.e. with the client the whole time. No
debits are done on the account, EVER. The client can fully lock their
account and/or get a "temporary" or "deposit only" checking account
just for this transaction. The money is never at risk. When the
program(s) end, the client ALWAYS has what they started with (the
money is not invested to make money, or lost, or at risk). They'll
also have what they profited. Profits do not vary, the client will
profit exactly what the contract (pre-written in advance) states
they'll profit. These programs are from top Tier 1 licensed traders &
banks. The client and their attorney will meet the trader & bank face
to face (in NYC for most programs) once both parties have spoken on
the phone, are serious, etc. Transactions can be done w/out travel but
why would someone with that kind of money not spend the small price to
travel regarding such a profitable and important transaction??

Brokers: Commission percentages on these transactions are much larger
than standard real estate deals. On real estate loans you can't charge
the client as much because it's loaned money that they need to pay
back. But this is free money to the client. Brokers often split 5-15%
of the client's profits! And on many programs this commission does not
come out of the client's profits, or dilute their profits in any way.

Check out the newest more lucrative PROGRAMS available now!!
We look very forward to any future business that we may do with you
and/or any of your associated business contacts!

Serious inquiries only!!!

***Proven by various, highly-respected U.S. TV and Radio programs as

> The true story that has everyone talking:
> Parents of a 15yr old boy find $71,000 in his closet:
>
> You may have seen this story featured on a number of major news
> programs (United States), and reported elsewhere around the world.
> His mother was doing some cleaning and putting some laundry away when
> she discovered a large brown paper bag that was suspiciously
> buried beneath some clothes and a skateboard in the back of her 15-
> year-old sons closet.
>
> Nothing could have prepared her for the shock she got when she opened
> the bag and found that it was full of dollar bills -- $71,000 to be
> precise!!
>
> "My first thought was that he had robbed a bank", says the 41-year-old
> woman, "There was over $71,000 in that bag,
> that's more than my husband earns in a year".
>
> The woman immediately called her husband at the car-dealership where
> he worked to tell him what she had discovered.
> He came home right away and together they drove to the boys school and
> picked him up.
> Little did they suspect that where the bills were coming from was
> going to be a bigger surprise than actually finding them in the
> closet.
>
> As it turns out, the boy had been sending out, via E-mail, a type of
> "Report" to other E-mail addresses that he obtained off the Internet.
> Everyday after school for the past 2 months, he had been doing this on
> his computer in his bedroom.
>
> "I just got an E-mail one day and I figured what the heck, I put my
> name on it like the instructions said and I started sending it out",
> says the 15-year-old.
>
> The E-mail letter he received had 5 names and addresses listed on it
> and contained instructions on how to send one $5 dollar bill to each
> person on the list.
> Then delete the name and address at the bottom of the list (Report 5)
> and move the other 4 names and addresses down one step,
> finally adding your own name and address to the top of the list
> (Report 1).
>
> The letter goes on to state that you would receive several thousand
> dollars in five-dollar bills within 2 weeks
> if you sent out the letter with your name and address at the top of
> the 5-address list.
>
> "I get junk E-mail all the time, and really did not think it was going
> to work", the boy continues.
>
> Within the first few days of sending out the E-mail,
> the Post Office Box that his parents had gotten him for his video-game
> magazine subscriptions began to fill up
> not with magazines, but envelopes containing $5 bills.
>
> "About a week later I rode my bike down to the post office and my
> Post Office Box had 1 magazine and about 300 envelopes stuffed in it."
>
> Over the next few weeks, the boy continued sending out the E-mail.
>
> "The five dollar bills just kept coming in and I just kept sorting
> them and stashing them in the closet,
> I barely had time for my homework". He had also been riding his bike
> to several of the banks in his area
> and exchanging the $5 bills for twenties, fifties and hundreds.
>
> "I didn't want the banks to get suspicious so I kept riding to
> different banks with like five thousand at a time in my backpack.
> I would usually tell the lady at the bank counter that my dad had sent
> me in to exchange
>
> the bills and he was outside waiting for me.
> One time the lady gave me a really strange look and told me that she
> would not be able to do it for me and my dad would have to come in and
> do it,
> but I just rode to the next bank down the street (laughs)."
>
> Surprisingly, the boy did not have any reason to be afraid.
> The reporting news team examined and investigated the so-called "chain-
> letter" the boy was sending out and found
> that it was not a chain-letter at all. In fact, it was completely
> lawful according to United States Postal and Lottery Laws
> which state; a product or service must be exchanged for funds
> received.
>
> Every five-dollar bill that he received contained a little note that
> read, "Please send me report number xyz".
> This simple note made the letter lawful because he was exchanging a
> service (A Report on how-to do something) for a five-dollar fee.
>
> It's true. The boy legitimately earned $71,000.
> You should print this, read it and read it again and again if
> necessary.
> Then follow the simple instructions. You too could make $71,000 and
> much much more.
>
> This program has gained such respectability and it is working so well,
> that many people are now entering the program for a second and third
> time.
>
> From this chain alone some are reporting they are earning enough money
> to give up their jobs and they are spending just a few hours a day
> sending out e-mails.
>
> ======================================...
>
> Some people will take this as an "off the wall" idea to make

> A FEW LEGAL TIPS:
>
>
> You are starting a Mailing List
>
>
>
> File your responses alphabetically everyday. If you have a computer,
> all the better, if not get one with your first mail responses.
>
> You will soon have a huge mailing list. It can be very
> useful in your business, to start a new
> business, or for other businesses to acquire information from you.
>
> When you send out these letters, you are in the mail order business.
> People are sending you $1.00
> to be put on your mailing list. This is a legal helpful service.
> Once again see Title, section 1302 and 1341 of the US Postal and
> lottery laws.
>
>
> Here are the 4 steps:
>
>
> STEP 1:
>
> Take a few minutes to join Paypal: Remember to verify your account.
> (The internet's most trusted internet banking system for your
> payments.)
>
> www.paypal.com/us/mrb/pal=3DC2RREFZTEZ...
> .
>
> STEP 2:
>
> Once you have a Paypal account running, use Paypal to post $1 to
> EACH of the 6 Email Addresses below
> because you pay people with an email address in Paypal. Select "SEND
> MONEY".
>
> To do this you may need to use a credit or debit card, which is very
> easy, and secure so nobody but
> Paypal may see it.
>
> What you are doing is creating a service. That is absolutely legal!
> You are requesting a legitimate service
> and you are paying for it!
>
> Here are the 6 individual Email addresses that you have to send $1
> to through Paypal for this to work
> properly and for you to receive money.
>
> (If you don't send the money and decide to post the message with
> your name in it anyway, the paypal account will instantly pick this
> up and terminate your service, and other legal action will be taken.
> That is fraud and is punishable by law.(So follow the instructions and
> post the
> $6 and you will make lots of money with no hassles.)
>
> Now Send $1.00 to each of the six people on the list using Paypal, and
> in the (Subject) section type "Please add me to your list".
> Below are the emails that you transfer the money into:
>
> These groups of email addresses are Paypal IDs or usernames:
> 1.) lexiboo44@yahoo.com
> 2.) lleslie54@aol.com
> 3.) killa_crip904@yahoo.com
> 4.) tfloyd966@yahoo.com
> 5.) liljake131@hotmail.com
> 6.) xxdebbie@hotmail.com
>
>
> STEP 3:
>
> Now after sending $1.00 to each of these email addresses, take
> the 1 Email Address off the list,
> move the other Email Addresses up (6 becomes 5, 5 becomes 4, etc.)
> and add Your Email Address as
> number 6 on the list.
>
> STEP 4:
>
> Try to keep this article as close to the original as possible.
>
> Now, post this article to at least 200 news groups (there
> are hundreds of thousands of groups).
>
> And email your message to as many people as you can. Remember, the
> more
> you post and email the more money you make! This is perfectly legal!
>
> You are getting paid for a service, the sender of the money asks you
> to
> "Please add me to your list", Therefore it is legal. Remember to send
> a dollar to the
> above names or this is considered illegal.
>
> If you have any doubts, refer to Title 18 Sec. 1302 and 1241 of the
> Postal Lottery laws.
> Which States that you must exchange a service or product for profit.
>
> Keep a copy of these steps for yourself and, whenever you need
> money, you can use it again and again.
>
>
> PLEASE REMEMBER
>
> This program remains successful because of the honesty and integrity
> of the participants and by their
> carefully adhering to the directions.
>
> You are simply paying into a money making chain of participants and
> if the chain is broken you are screwing someone else out of their fair
> share.
>
> So, as each person who joins the family and the directions are
> followed, six members will be reimbursed for
> their participation as a Mailing List Developer with one dollar
> each.
>
> You then insert your Email Address into the list and it will move up
> geometrically.
>
> So that when your name reaches the 1 position you will have
> potentially received thousands of dollars
> into your account!!!
>
> What an opportunity for only a total of $6.00! $1 for each of the
> first six people listed above.
>
> To begin with, please send you're $1.00 to each email address listed
> above then add your own Email
> Address to the list and you're in business!
>
> HOW TO POST TO NEWS GROUPS:
>
> Use the internet and searching for various news groups, ad posting
> websites, on-line forums, message
> boards, chat sites, discussions.
>
>
> Log on any search engine like yahoo.com, google.com, altavista.com,
>
> excite.com, etc., then search with the subject "money making message
> board" or "classified ads"
>
> You will find thousands and thousands of message boards and
> companies like Adblaster.com, InetGiant.
> com, LiveDeal.com, Adsubmitter.com
>
>
> Click on them one by one and you will find the option ''post a new
> message''. Then Post this article
> as a ''new message'' by highlighting the text of this letter and
> selecting copy then paste from the edit
> menu.
>
>
>
> Fill in the Subject, this will be the header that everyone sees as
> they scroll through the list of
> postings in a particular group, click the post message button.
>
>
> You can also read other peoples ads for business opportunities and
> respond to their email address with this business opportunity.
>
> You're done with your first one! It only takes about 60 seconds to
> complete postings on message boards after you catch on.
>
> REMEMBER, THE MORE NEWS GROUPS YOU POST IN, THE MORE MONEY YOU WILL
> MAKE!!
>
> But you have to post a minimum of 200!
>
> How does it work?
>
> When you post 200 letters, it is estimated that at least 15 people
> will respond and send you $1 ($15).
> Those 15 will post 200 letters each and 225 will send $1 ($225).
> Those 225 will post 200 letters each and
