That looks good, and pretty cheap too. I'd try a pair if I can see
them in the store first. I believe they would be suitable for walking
as the OP intended. I'd rip them off very quickly trying to run on
them because I have to switch back and forth from dry to ice so often.
I'll be checking the store.

Thanks for the education. The phrase "screwing shoes" had my mind on a

Sorry, i read your post again...you did say 'bathtub'...I got confused
with the pop-up of the sink in bathrooms. Why ask in this frugal
forum..you would be better off in so many of those "How do I..."
forums which can be found by googling it? I still say that link of
yours takes me directly to windows live...go figure.

Nothing wrong with his link...Must be something on your end...Do you know
what brand it is??? Hard to give info without that..Also you can check the
manufacturers website if you know what brand it is....

What ever is wrong on his end is wrong on my end too.

Link goes to a Windows Live page entitled Bath Tub and shows 2
"images" that contain the dreaded red X.

I am sorry that the link is not working. I checked it from my end
without signing on to hotmail. It seems to be there.

What the pictures depict is a somewhat rounded triangular knob. There
are no external fasteners (i.e. no screws, pins, etc). I am afraid to
pull this too hard, in case there is a different way of removing it.

I wish we could post photos on usenet along with our text...

Unfortunately there are no manufacturer's name or insignia.

I am afraid to pull the metallic part too hard in case it is attached
a different way. (I turned it counterclockwise to see if it is screwed
on, but that did not help either.)

What I am looking for is somebody who has seen and had first hand
experience with this exact knob to tell me how to remove it.

Once it is removed, it is got to be the way you described.

Anybody out in the Cyber world that has dealt with this type of knob?

Thanks anyway.

The part that activates the rocker on the plug could be a spiral if so it
could be stuck. Usually you just unscrew the escutcheon on the overful and
lift it out!

Your link worked for me. For those for whom the link did not work, maybe
they could do a copy and paste of the link text into the address bar and try
it that way.

Due to the reflections in the pictures, I misunderstood what I was seeing in
the pictures. Since you said your "turn" the knob to operate the drain, I
took another look. In the photo view from the bottom, it looks like maybe
there is a little round inset-type cap on the side of the fixture. If so,
maybe you could use a pointed kitchen steak knife to pry/pop the cap out,
then see if there is a set screw in there. Since you turn the knob for it
to work, my guess is that there is a set screw that holds the knob to the
shaft inside that has to be turned.

Its much more portable, but the much smaller screen is a real downside.

Really depends on what you are looking at on it.

I found myself occasionally going to McDonald's after I discovered
their Double Cheeseburger on the dollar menu. Normally, I went to
Wendy's and got the Jr. Cheeseburger Deluxe, or sometimes to Burger King
to get the Whopper Jr.

However, our local McDonald's raised the price of their double
cheeseburger from $1 up to $1.38. The one still on the dollar menu has
two burger patties, and just a single slice of cheese. A 38% increase
to keep that second piece of cheese seemed a bit much, so I don't go to
McDonald's much at all any more.

Now that the price for food commodities has started going back down,
how many of you think that McDonald's will decrease their retail costs?
Will they, or will it be more like how the gas stations keep prices up
for a while?

Any business will keep their prices as high as possible, as long as
possible, in order to fatten their bottom line. Note what the U.S. banks are
doing with the "bailout" money--stuffing it in their mattress so they have a
better dividend report to issue to shareholders next quarter.

You can expect McDonald's to decrease their prices only if sales decline
enough to hurt their profitability. And, when they do so, they will make a
big lying deal of how "we're reducing prices to save you money!"

The facts show that is not true. Walmart has a policy of always
trying to offer the lowest possible price. They account for a
major slice of the retail market.

Its not news to me that there are variations in pricing at various
McDonalds. Niagara Falls Canada seems to be home to the most expensive
fast food I've encountered. I would suppose it varies based on the
location costs, and competition. Denny's was much worse BTW - their
prices were much much higher.

I think the reason why your caller id won't show up when using a phone
card like Onesuite is because most people wants anonymity with the
exception of some. Maybe Onesuite received lots of complaints (because
some people won't accept calls if they don't recognize the caller) and
gave in to people's request.

Yup! If Bush was in office he would have filled those jobs with red
blooded Americans who are only qualified to clean toilets. So, which
is better?

Bush's idea of full employment is give them jobs as military dead
bodys in foreign lands.

How is "magic negro" a racial slur, given the fact it was coined by a
liberal op-ed columnist for the LA Times? Or are you so motivated by

Just don't believe Verizon's claim that they charge you 0.002 cents a

You got that right. Although that recording of Verizon idiots was
made in 2005, so they may have figured out by now that cents are not
the same as dollars.

I run one to two hours per day 350 days a year or more. All winter
long we contend with snow and black ice. What I do on black ice days
is use shoes that I have screwed 1/4" hex screws in from the bottom. I
use 3-4 around the heel and up to five in the forefoot in sort of a
penta-star formation. The heel can take screws of 3/4" length with no
problem while the forefoot screws need to be 1/2" or shorter to
prevent feeling them inside. I use the blunt ended screws rather than
pointed. Sometimes a predrilled hole is needed to start the screw.
This really works and the screws would last most of the season when
used for walking short distances. My brother is partly disabled and
this is a must for him.

That looks good, and pretty cheap too. I'd try a pair if I can see
them in the store first. I believe they would be suitable for walking
as the OP intended. I'd rip them off very quickly trying to run on
them because I have to switch back and forth from dry to ice so often.
I'll be checking the store.

If your referring to the sink pop up in bathroom, go below the sink
and where the rod is connected to the sink..there is a clip that holds
them together...slide that clip outward and that should free the
connection and you should be able to remove it. BTW, maybe this is
intentional, but your link goes straight to Windows live.

Sorry, i read your post again...you did say 'bathtub'...I got confused
with the pop-up of the sink in bathrooms. Why ask in this frugal
forum..you would be better off in so many of those "How do I..."

yours takes me directly to windows live...go figure.

Most likely, you have to take off the part that is attached to the vertical
surface of the tub first. After you take that off, the knob you are
referring to will probably have a cotter pin or similar connection in the
back. The knob is connected to a metal wire/rod that drops down behind the
tub and that is connected to a brass plunger/stopper at the end. The
plunger/stopper is what stops the water from draining out when it is in the
right position. The whole setup comes up and out of the tub through the
hole that is in the vertical wall of the tub behind the piece that covers
the whole.

Usually, there are two screws in the piece that attaches to the vertical
wall of the tub. Yours looks different, so there may be a little cap/cover
over where the connecting screws are, or maybe there is some other way that
the piece is connected.

If you can see a brand name printed on that fixture, maybe you can go to
their website or do an Internet search to see how it disconnects.

So two idiots at Verizon that don't understand the difference between
$0.002 and 0.002¢ and that translates to Verizon not having good coverage.

The key question in that admittedly hilarious recording is does the
caller have proof that he was ever quoted 0.002¢ per KB?

Racist comments are uncalled for. Keep it to yourself.

Here's an audio recording of a customer call with Verizon. The customer had
been quoted a rate of 0.002 cents per kilobyte but was actually charged
$0.002. Not only the customer service rep but the supervisor claims not to
see a difference between those two concepts.

So who on here was touting Verizon as a good service provider again? Whoever
it was just got an education.

Hello All:

I want to remove the knob that moves my pop-up plug for the drain up
and down.

I tried to pull this knob but it is not moving. I looked around for a
set screw. There is none.

I have photos of the knob at:

http://cid-eb85de77506ba8ba.skydrive.live.com/browse.aspx/BathTub?authkey=Y9O!9fLQTTI%24

Is there any trick to removing this type of knob?

I need to remove it to open the clogged drain.

Thanks!

Deguza

Hopefully it covers the part of the world you want to call. Let us
know what you think of it.
