I would say most all these 'tips' pertain to younger, still working, folks.

A few times I've bought shoes by mailorder. The standard in that era
was to outline your foot, with a sock on, and send that in, so they could
make sure the size is right. Most of the time I can go with a certain
size, but every so often, some shoes don't fit, the company's sizing is
off the standard.

Right before Christmas, I almost ordered a pair of winter boots via
mailorder/the web, becasue a place nearby didn't have stock, and the other
place I might buy them is not a convenient location to get to, so I didn't
want to spend the time right before Christmas. In both cases, I could
order and if they didn't fit, take them to the local store, something I
don't really like doing, buying something and taking it back. But I
dawdled, me trying to figure which store was the best choice (I had a gift
card for one, the other had a sales price), and then both places were out
of my size, so that put it all on the backburner for now.

I have never really bought any clothing via mailorder/the web, because I
want to see it up close. I'd love to be able to keep buying the same
item, but that neer happens, by the time I need to replace something,
whatever it was is no longer available, so I have to figure out what to
buy next. The times I have bought shoes, the price was either a really
good one, or I was buying a second pair of shoes that I'd jsut bought
locally.

Yes, but I stick to ordering from LL Bean now. They have the wider
sizes I need and the shoes and boots hold up better than most.

I tried ordering a pair of shoes once through Amazon. Even though
it was a brand I'd bought before, the new ones didn't fit and I
ended up having to pay a return fee. Never again! I'll stick to Bean.

Nyssa, who isn't into fashionable shoes, just practical ones that
fit

I tend to look at reviews for shoes and if the majority of the reviews say
they run too small/too large I order a half size up or down.

Oh my, I have bought truckloads of clothes online! Not really truckloads
but many, many items online. If at all possible I try to order when free
shipping and free returns are offered. But rarely have I had to return
something do to fit or quality. (Knock on wood!)

First you have to define what you mean by eczema medications. Over the
counter or prescription? And to topically treat an occasional appearance
or for serious, chronic cases where you take it all the time to prevent
it? Seems there are better resources than hoping to find someone here
that has experience, given the small sample size.

Sometimes it makes sense to ask a question in a seemingly irrelevant
group because you know there are some generally-smart people there who,
if they know, will give answers that aren't bullshit.

This doesn't seem like one of those questions :-(

That $24 is twice what I'm paying for Envision. Probably location

Maybe a month. You can apply a couple of months before you hit 65. You
have to also have Medicare. I mistakenly chose the standard Blue
Cross/Shield Part D plan which was $84/month last year. Much more this
year. We don't use many prescriptions at all, so I signed up with the
cheapest Express Scripts plan ($24/month) for 2019. We should save
enough to more than make up for the increased cost of the meds.

Considering that $24/mo. = $288/yr., if the annual cost of prescriptions is less than $288, then doesn't that mean that one is better off not signing up?

If you don't sign up it costs you more later on. Besides, it's
insurance against the unknown; you never can tell when you're going to
come down with cancer or some other nasty thing and need a lot of
expensive drugs. Eliquis, the much-safer alternative to Coumadin, costs
$10/day. Probably not going to happen, but if premiums + investments
didn't earn more than payouts + expenses, insurance companies wouldn't
be in business very long.

It's a gamble. You pays yer money and makes yer choice.

HMOs make money by NOT serving you. If I need treatment I don't need to
wait weeks to see the GP who then refers me to the specialist I can see
in a few weeks MAYBE. If I need the ER I want the GOOD one, not the one
I'm allowed to go to. If I can see that a doctor is a total turkey
(yeah, we've been nearly killed by one) I want to be able to choose
another -- the guy who went to Johns Hopkins, not the guy who went to
Joe's Law/Medical School and Taxidermy Shop.

The only decent HMO I've ever heard about is Kaiser, and my experience
with taking someone's semi-alzheimer's relative to the Kaiser ER sucked.
All the chairs in the small waiting room were taken; if the guy
didn't have his own wheelchair he would have had to depend on the
kindness of strangers. One guy came in bleeding from his leg ON THE
FLOOR and it was perhaps 10 minutes before the receptionist/nurse
actually attended to him although his companion yelled HE'S BLEEDING as
soon as they got in the door. The blood was on the floor for at least
15 minutes before somebody came and cleaned it up. While the
receptionist/nurse was actually doing medical stuff to somebody there
was nobody signing in patients.

No way would I ever choose a system like this.

Here in Canada, I got a tablet in November and it was delivered on a
Sunday, maybe three days after I ordered.

I can't remember whether they state how many days for "free shipping", but
even 5-6 days doesn't seem all that bad. But then I can remember the days
of sending away for something, and waiting the mandatory "6 to 8 weeks".

If you track the package, it can be weird. I know one order no movement
at all for a few days, then wham it was here. it almost looked like they
had to get it from the US, but I'm not sure if they do things that way.
But the tracking can also lag, I check in the morning, nothing's close,
then it is delievered.

Prime is amazon wanting to be an everyday place. So "i need soap", and
place an order, since it costs nothing. I don't do Prime, so I do let the
minimum accumulate, but then I'm doing it more like traditional mail
order, an occasional thing, not supplying my everyday needs.

Yeah, you are in it now.

They got me over the summer, it is NOT clearly written out when you select
the shipping that the choice you select is an automatic sign up for the Prime
membership.

Anyway, it's no big deal, it is free (they aren't going to charge you
anything until the 30 day trial is over) and I cancelled at around the 3
week mark without any problems.

It did give me a chance to check out the video and audio services but
nothing there for me and since I barely order more than 2 or 3 times a year,
I didn't want to keep the membership.

It's pretty scummy how they do that, at least they should give you a "are

It's via the website.

Log into your account over there and under "Account & Lists" there is one
for "Memberships and Subscriptions". Since I don't have it anymore, I think
the Amazon Prime was there.

Assume there is going to be a few "are you sure" and a date to set for the
cancellation. Then expect a few emails saying it's not too late to
reactivate it.

If they would only make it like that for signing up these questions wouldn't

AND the state of California (along with Amazon, apparently) regards
Prime membership as a sales-taxable item. 10% more than I expected.

That would be my guess, but who knows. I've never seen the term "music
port" used.

If the boombox has phone jacks, then it's more likely line in. But
perhaps it's to conenct an MP3 player, in which case it might be USB, or
some connector specific to something like the iPod. There's equipment now
that has a USB port so you can attach a flash drive, and inside the
equipment is the circuitry to play MP3s off the drive. So that's another
possibility.

How can u get rid of it if u keep feeding it food that it loves? Also, what makes you think its the same mouse? They are known to multiply like crazy. I read somewhere that if you feed it instant potatos, they go back to wherever they go and choke to death. Reminder do not cook the instant potato, just as it comes out of the box.

We use an Obihai 200 VOIP device with a Google Voice number for a home
phone. No monthly fee (not even the "required" taxes that Ooma and
others make you pay!), free long distance in the US and Canada,
voicemail, etc. Google Voice also has a lot of filtering/forwarding
features that are nice once you figure out how to configure them. If
you want/need E911 service on the home phone, it can be added for
$25/year (via Anveo) - I opted to add that and it works.

BTW, we tried an Ooma a while back (before the Obihai), but it did not
work very well for us. (In defense of Ooma, it turned out it was the
ISP. We have new, better internet service since then.) So we donated
the Ooma to the local community library so they could dump their
expensive Century Link landline. They are happy with it.

Just another option.

Whatever works! When AT&T got up to ~$30/month for ONLY local service
(no need for LD and still don't) we were really glad to find the Ooma.
$4.xx/month is reasonable.

If you get enough telemarketer calls to be annoying, check out the

What is it or are you going to make us go search it to understand what you
are asking? Some of us are not Amazon shoppers as a general rule.
