I've been on several cruises and photographers are *not* in your face.
There are certain days when they are set up at a station to take
purely optional formal shots. Other than the port pictures (another
station you can bypass or not), that's it. The rest of the time, they
run the ship's equivalent of a camera store where they would like to
sell you something but they're happy to give you mini lessons on how
to use your camera. Photos are displayed on the wall and you can
purchase them or not. There is no pressure to have your picture taken
and no hard sell for you to buy them.

Please believe me when I say the people who told you ship
photographers are "in your face" must be antisocial rubes who wouldn't
know "in your face" if it slapped them in the face.

Never do a package deal.

Wait until the last minute, but that tends to increase air-fare
prices. I was on a flight to Fort Lauderdale last year and the lady
next to me was on her way to a 7 day eastern Caribbean cruise that she
had booked at the last minute for $199. Just think what seven days of
meals and hotel would cost on a vacation.

> C) avoiding annoyances - like photographers, additional costs

Because the basic cruise cost is a loss leader on the major cruise
lines they count on making money on shore excursions, alcohol, and a
bunch of other things like photography, selling worthless art at high
prices to dumb people, shopping, etc. You are forbidden from bringing
on your own wine, beer, or liquor of course.

January is high tourist season in Florida, so $235 is a good deal.

Good luck with that. But just make up a good story like "my agent
requires that you pay me for all photos."

Well, just in case you haven't, open up everything you can easily and blow
out the lint and accumulated dust with air. Put in a NEW needle and try it
again. I've have great luck 'fixing' SWMBO's machines with these simple
techniques.

I find it funny that they "try to shoot the messenger," and not, say,
some Afghan big shot who landed with $54 million in another country as
revealed in the leaks.

I want to clarify for all that while I do criticize riding on
sidewalks I can not recommend that everyone should go on the road
UNDER THE PRESENT DANGEROUS CONDITIONS.

Bicycles do NOT mix with pedestrians, and they do NOT mix with
traffic. WE NEED A LANE, traffic lane or otherwise. We need the whole
lane whenever other lanes are available. When they are not then we
share the lane.

If they don't like that let them give us some reasonably wide bike
lanes so we can have a place under the sun. No, we ain't got a place.
We live in humiliation and danger. It's a long, grinding torture that
you endure by riding on the road under current dangerous conditions.

I do, my friend, but they seem to be totally indifferent or totally
scared to speak, except for the moderator who's a chap from London.
Funny no, a chap from London in Miami...

Not only that, I've told them that their recent "grandiose project" (a
fancy mixed path by the beach) is a piece of shit, very dangerous
indeed, and they are speechless. ;)

Wait, there's one last hope before Jesus or the Revolution coming
soon...

(they've been coming soon for a while)

http://decobike.com/

They will unleash 1,000 bikes into the jungle... or they may decide to
pacify the beast (traffic)... or they may draw bike lanes along major
thoroughfares... or it may be a project for PR to take place in a
small area.

How would you feel about say a $25 a year registration fee per bicycle
to pay for these dedicated lanes? Seems fair to me since the roads are
largely paid for with fuel taxes and/or automobile registration fees.

Forrest, do you know how to read a thread? If you did, you would see that it
is only TM talking to himself.

TM is a poor crazy bastard who just posts on his one favorite subject -
hatred of motor vehicles because they interfere with his use of the roads.
His other favorite subject is attacking Christianity. If you respond to this
poor crazy bastard, then you are a poor crazy bastard too.

He likes to reference monkeys and other wild animals normally found only in
zoos because he is most likely a wild beast himself. I think he fornicates
with monkeys, but I can't prove it.

TM should confine himself to just one thread instead of proliferating them
like a poor crazy bastard. He is insane of course. I liken him to the
village idiot of olden times. The difference these days is that no one any
longer recognizes the village idiot because idiocy has become so widespread.

But I will be here to remind one and all of what a poor crazy bastard TM is.
It is a mark of My Greatness that I can still recognize the village idiot
even if the rest of you can't.

Fuel taxes do not pay for local roads. Furthermore, fuel taxes (in the
US) do not cover the expense of the military in the Middle East (and
there would be no US military presence in the Middle East except for oil
and natural gas).

We might well be in the Middle East, oil or no oil. Only an anti-Semite
would leave Israel to defend itself against a sea of Arabs. The Islamist
Fascists object to the very idea of America, and it is not connected to our
presence in the Middle East. It is connected to our secularism and our
influence in the world which directly threatens their medieval religion.

The American Empire needs to maintain troops everywhere in the world. That
is what great empires have always done. When ass needs to be kicked, it
needs to be kicked right away (especially Muslim ass). The Soviets at least
knew how to keep the Muslims down.

There are federal and *state* taxes on fuel. They do indeed help pay for
roads. I'll ignore the bit about wars in the middle east as it has
nothing to do with whether or not bicycles need a lane to themselves.

Arabs are Semites also.

Those U.S. citizens who would put the interests of another country ahead
of the U.S. are traitors.

Bicycle lanes are a ghetto for cyclists. What is needed is vigorous
prosecution of motorists who do not respect the rights of others.

That's fairly easy to answer. Christians for the most part are found
among these groups:

1- They distrust Science so they believe in a conspiracy,

2- They tune to the wrong TV channels (never Animal Planet),

3- They listen to the preacher who feeds them his "version of events,"

4- They are likely to have lower IQ or are lazy about thinking,

5- They may have to assume responsibility and do changes to their
lifestyle such as riding a bike,

6- Jesus is coming soon... so who cares!?

You are more stupid if you think we can't minimize that damage and
instead should keep driving Stupid Unnecessary Vehicles as if nothing
is happening.

We can easily ride a bike for local errands and reduce our impact. But
your IQ is pretty good for a Christian. ;)

The Catholics may be closer to the truth, but they don't do shit about
it.

Wait, they pray! ;)

Well crap -- if you're happy (or at least content) with your job, not
perpetually stoned and doing stupid stuff, and not whining over
failure to get laid, you've pretty much outgrown your utility as
newsgroup pet.

What good are you?

I haven't posted much here the last several years.

But still, the state of this group makes me sad. It's like going home
only to find it overgrown with weeds and no one home.
