Anyone know of a gas grill that allows a side firebox to be attached
later, to add the capability of charcoal smoking?

My gas grill rusted out last fall. For a short time, I toyed with
the idea of buying a charcoal grill. However, I really want the ability
to cook something up fast if I get the notion. Also, there is no gas
service at this house - electric only - so a gas grill would allow me to
do a little of that. Besides, if I want to do charcoal grilling, there
are many parks near here where we can do that once in a while, using the
public grills.

I realized that what I'd really like is the ability to cook fast with
gas, but occasionally also the ability to slow cook and smoke meats all
day with charcoal.

I suppose I'll have to buy a gas grill for one, and a charcoal smoker
for the other. I've searched online for a while, and can't seem to
locate a gas grill that also allows attachment of a side charcoal smoker
box for smoking.

Anyone know if such a thing exists? Would I be better off getting
two separate stand alone items? Thanks!

I've been very happy with my Traeger wood pellet grill. It cooks like
a convection oven with smoke. Fill the wood pellet hopper, hit the
switch and it's ready to cook in 10-12 minutes. Not great for things
that require high temps like seared fish, but your typical
burgers/steaks/spareribs/chicken come out nearly perfect.

I don't know how the quality is since Traeger moved its production to
China (my grill was made in Oregon), but there are several US-made
competitors in the market now.

other. I myself believe it's an overwhelmingly destructive force, but

Here are some loose arguments:

1- IT OPPOSES SCIENCE in such issues as EVOLUTION & CLIMATE CHANGE,
which in turn determine where we came from and we are headed,

2- They follow a certain command to CONQUER THE EARTH, giving little
thought to "lesser species,"

3- They fail to understand the basic principle of CAUSE & EFFECT, ie.
"my choice of transportation is part of the problem/solution,"

4- They seem to vote for the most "ALPHA MALE LEADERS," ready to
launch one more questionable war, and then ignore the price of it,

5- They are WAITING FOR JESUS, who's coming soon to get them out of
this Hell and leave the rest behind.

I'm getting on my Beach Cruiser now to think about these and other
issues that slow down progress. By the way, riding on sidewalks is not
the answer.

many non-christians.

opposed to war and violence of any kind.

And he has also forgotten about all the historic peace churches and
the anabaptists (that is NOT baptists) which have been a positive
influence for peace, respect, and social issues around the world - in
North, Central, and south America, Africa, Asia, and just about
anywhere they are found.

Wherever relief efforts are required (think Haiti, Japan, Indonesia,
New Orleans, etc) you will find MCC and/or MDS involved in a positive
and effective way.

I bought a set of 3 ceramic-coated non-stick frying pans last year
(~US$60 on sale). So far, so good wear-wise -- we'll see. They do
need a drip of oil for cooking and non-metal utensils are recommended,
but eggs over-easy slide out like a dream.

Mormons do pay for their own missions, but not all missionaries ride
bikes. I spent time on foot and in a car on my mission, along with the
time spent on a bicycle. Some missionaries spend all their time on foot,
or in a car. It depends on where you go.

We actually had kids ask us if we rode bikes because we don't believe in
electricity. I guess they didn't see the electric light on my handlebars. ;)

Yeah, it seems to make certain sense but it certainly has NOT done it
to me --not yet. I think Beach Cruisers are fine for the most part.

Then I only have to become a monk. ;)

Riding uprights does far more than merely restrict blood flow to the groin. It causes hydroceles, penile numbness, and other serious medical conditions. For all I know, those damn saddles may even cause enlarged prostate leading to bladder problems and prostate cancer!

I recently downloaded Internet Explorer 9 and it has changed many of my
settings on my Windows Mail. The main thing it changed was the font. I have
always preferred Arial size 14. Now I am getting Times Roman size 12. I will
have to figure out how to get back my former settings.

Low price bed pillows have plastic bags as filler, why not a sofa cushion?
Clean, dry plastic shopping bags tended to overwhelm my home until I began using
them to fill seat cushions for the folding lawn chairs that try to eat the
person attempting to sit in them. Using these cushions makes it easier to get
out of the chairs. Are a comfortable seat. And a ready supply of bags if
needed.

Free is good. :)

Another "free" suggestion. Look at the things you already own. If you have sleeping bags, blankets, pillows, stadium cushions, inflatable rafts etc. that don't get used much could any of those things do double duty as bench padding?

Hello,

After two months of purchasing a large airport checked luggage style
Jeep suitcase from Wal-Mart, all the metal parts were badly rusting.
The metal in the center of the wheels and all the plates of the bolts
were rusting. Also, the two long metal support poles going down the
back side were badly rusting. Jeep obviously is not using stainless
steel, but some very low quality metal in order to increase their
profit margins at the cost to consumers.

Also, the lining inside the suitcase tore, causing my clothes to come
in direct contact with the rusted support poles underneath, leaving
rust stains on my clothes (plus, rust is not good for your health if
it enters your body).

Everything else with the suitcase seemed okay.

The "funny thing" was that in the age of the "robber barrons" most of the
elite were only one generation away from poverty. There wasn't an income
tax so successful folks were able to accumulate "significant" fortunes
rapidly. The major "investors" were simply the representatives of the
second generation "very rich." Middle class folks tended to enjoy where
they were or started their own businesses. They seldom were interested in
placing the family welfare in the hands of some distant corporation.

Both 19th Century and 20th/21st Century Robber Barrons have contributed much
more to society than they took away.

But what's realy amazing is how quickly the 19th Century capitalists were
able to bring resources to the then "new technology."
