In at least much of USA, it is only a misdeanor, often a minor one, to
be a smalltime or "smalltime" drug user.
That creates demand. The price gets to a point that equates supply and
demand with each other. The price gets to a point that motivates people
to get into risky business, especially people who would otherwise be
without income.
I propose that the drug laws in USA should be either like those that USA
had in 1900 (when marijuana, cocaine and opiates were legal), or like
those that my highschool German teacher said Germany had in the late
1970's ("get caught with half a joint, spend 2 years in "The Joint").

(As I was taking a shower, a spirit of the jungle came to me and told
me this is the topic of the day. I said, "Fine, let's go for it!" I'm
not exactly sure what stand they take on religion, but usually they
are very skeptical of the whole thing)
Have you noticed how the Christians dismiss scientists right off hand?
I mean, it usually takes one scientist to refute another scientist,
but the Christians are the exception to the rule. Whether it's
EVOLUTION or CLIMATE CHANGE, the Christians are quick to dismiss
scientists.
Of course, when they are sick, they turn to science and are more
willing to take medications that have been tested on animals... How
come? Hey, leave all those monkeys, pigs and rats alone --all of them
showing high IQ-- and do the tests on Christians. This is the perfect
retribution.
(And with this the spirit of the jungle flew away right back to the
wild world so threatened by Christians)
