I use a specific credit card that doesn't charge a transaction fee and get the current market rate. it does, however, levy a flat rate cash advance fee of a couple of dollars. But sending money except for a few bucks is dicey. Another option might be a prepaid AMEX Bluebird card or similar. I haven't use that one in Europe, but credit and debit cards generally work for purchases or at ATMs. He could check. The AMEX Bluebird you can buy and load up at Walmart. There is no monthly fee, I think the other terms are pretty good too and the exchange rate is probably as good as or better than what you'd get at some currency exchange shop. Just load it with US dollars, they take care of the conversion. |
