Hi Edwin,

The tub seems different in that there is nothing to take apart on the
nozzle part that spits out the water. I don't feel a screen in that nozzle
like I did the faucets.

Here is the clogged tub outlet with the water on "full blast" which is
barely more than a trickle after the water heater replacement:
http://www.flickr.com/photos/donnaohl/2279157305/

Here is the tub with the water on the full close position; I don't see what
to remove to find a "filter screen"?
http://www.flickr.com/photos/donnaohl/2279157299/

I'm sorry for being confused but can you point to what in this picture,
showing the water at the most I can get out now (which is vastly less than
the day before the water heater was replaced) I should open up to clean out
the sediment?
http://www.flickr.com/photos/donnaohl/2279157295/

Am I looking in the wrong place?

Donna

PS I'm confused if I should post to this thread or to the long thread so
I'll try to keep an eye on both!

Hi Hallerb,
I'm sorry I didn't see this earlier. I'm so confused with this discussion
as to where to post.

I hope others can keep up as I read *everything* everyone says and try to
answser the questions so I can help myself and others can follow after
we're done so the advice is never wasted.

I took a bunch of pics of the dishwasher today and put them here:
http://www.flickr.com/photos/donnaohl/sets/72157603947125744/

(Flicker apparently allows only 3 sets so I have to mix the dishwasher clog
with the tub clog which is, in a way, the same problem as it happened after
the water heater replacement).

I did do research on clogged dishwashers but it's hard to find anything
specific to the GE Nautilus.

This article says "unscrew the water inlet hose" to remove sediment:
http://www.rusticgirls.com/appliances/dishwasher-not-filling.html

This one says "debris" could be caught in the "spray arm":
http://www.mrappliance.com/expert/manual/dishwashers.aspx

This one again points to the "filter" and "solonoid":
http://www.home-appliance-kitchen-aids.com/dishwashers.html

This one suggests it might be the "float" that's clogged:
http://www.applianceandair.com/Dishwasher/dishwasher.html#nofill

I think what I'll do later today (I have the grandkids again) is take apart
the inlet line and the solonoid line if I can.

If I see sand in there, I'll know it's the problem!
Any other suggestions?

Donna

I might first think about using a good shop vac and start sucking at the feed
from the water heater or main entrance. open all taps, and of course close
main valve. I think the line would have to reseparated at the tank. The
dishwasher fill would have to be activated to open valve.

Hi GregS,
Unfortunately, we do not have a "shop vac". My vacuum cleaner isn't likely
to do the job either ...

I will try tonight to remove the inlet water line if I can find where it
goes and to remove the solonoid to see if either have a screen.

If it's not that, then I'll look at the "float" and the "nozzle" wherever
they are, but first I'll try to see if it's the blue solonoid or the hidden
inlet screen if there is any.

clog can be anywhere and is likely multiple locations.......

good luck and replace you galvanized ASAP the rough interior surface
of galvanized pipe leads to gunk accumulating and breaking lose
causing clogs of all types.

soleanoid valves are easy to replace but expensive

-►Welfare babies, greasy diners and other tidbits

Yes it's Emerson and yes I'm back to express my opinions on several
hot topics germane to the here and now. First, nigs on welfare.
Because these women can't seem to understand the concept of using
birth control and because they appear all too eager to spread their
legs for any Tom, Dick or Demetrius, our government is left footing
the bill for the resulting future car thieves. A solution? Cut off all
benefits after 1 year. Educate the ones who want it so they can find a
real job and above all, keep up with current affairs in our nation's
welfare program. There is no shortage of liberal ass polyps in suits
out there lobbying for even more rights for these lazy sloths.

Next up, greasy diners. I've eaten at my fair share of them while out
on the road and for the most part, they offer a pretty good selection
of Americana food however it was my recent misfortune to run across a
diner named "Juanito's", a former 1950's shotgun style home converted
into a Mexican diner. "I'll take the enchilada special" sez I to my
clearly brain dead waiter. What the heck. I'll try it and see how they
are. Bad move. Within 30 minutes of ingestion, I found myself cutting
high- pitched farts with a serious side affect. They were wet ones. I
was given a most unwelcome squishy reminder of my meal when I rose
from my booth to pay the little mongrel behind the counter and walk
out to my car. I nigger rigged a man kotex out of kleenex and pushed
it between my ass cheeks to sop up the remnants of those brown blasts.
The moral of the story? Be ready for gastric distress when trying out
someplace new, especially if the owners don't have a green-card.

I said it, you read it and I remain....

That sounds right to me. If you really want to frugal, get an
immersion heater as you would be close to 100%.

A pound of water (16 oz) will take 140 BTUs to raise it's temp from 60F
to 200F, about .04 kWhr. Even at 25 cents/kWhr that is just 1 cent.

If you were to find them I'd think they'd be in older hardware stores

I had one of those that plugged into the cigarette lighter hole. It
corroded and died within weeks when I actually started using it on a
trip. Moreover, the cord was so much heavier than the unit itself that
the cord knocked the [filled] cup over unless you held onto it.

So if one has cable, one is obliged to buy/rent a cable box on one's own?

Actually you get a rebate based on how many MS products (qualifying)
you purchased during a time frame (too late to apply now)...and the
rebate can be used on MS or non-MS products including software, new
PC's or peripherals. I still need to send in my $78 rebate once I
decide which "receipt" to use; and those receipts can be from a few
years ago up to about 2010 as I recall. Of course this is just the
California rebate/class action lawsuit; not sure about other states
lawsuits/rebates.

There should be no change to your cable service. If your cable company
chooses to go to all digital service it has nothing to do with the FCC
mandating broadcasters change to digital.

It would be technically feasible for your cable provide to convert the
digital
signal to analog prior to sending it down the cable to your house.
However,
they will probably see this as an opportunity to extract more money
from
their customers and require the purchase/rental of a converter.

Don't buy Microsoft products. The geeks have written all the free
software you need. Also, computer hardware all comes from China - so you
don't need a name brand mouse, keyboard, etc.

Did you telephone? Did you email? I wouldn't put it past the

Ultimately I received a real check, which I cashed. I didn't need to
send in no steenkin' receipts, they took my word for it. People may
make fun of California, but at least we didn't bend over and smile.

The easiest thing to do is just to log into your site and do a backup

I looked underneath today. There is a hose going to the garbage disposal
and another hose going to the faucet. There is a wire going to an
electrical outlet. I'll look more later this week as I had to visit my
grandchildren tonight and didn't get back home till late.

Here is what the dishwasher looks like:

When I take the kick plate off, I'll snap a picture and show you what that
"solonoid" looks like.

Hey that looks identical to the one I just yanked out of my place, the motor
died and the rest was in pretty sad shape, but the new one is very similar
and works great. At any rate I'm familiar with the innards. When you remove
the kick plate, you'll find adjustable screw feet and you should be able to
lower it down enough to get it to fit under the counter lip. The solenoid
valve will be right up front on the left side, mine is blue.

It sure looks different. There's no screen. Will look more.

Will take it apart and post pictures.

You could try a class action lawsuit with all the other people that
Microsoft has ripped off. It'll take ten years and cost you all the
money you have and when you win, you'll get a coupon for a discount
on the retail price of a Microsoft product. :)
