Why not just euthanise all the religious fundamentalists, homophobes,
lying self-serving drug warriors, racists, violent criminals, and
police officers who abuse their power (of course most people who are
one of those will be at least one other as well)? The "US and A" is a
wonderful place but for those people. Better get rid of them than the
old and homeless, who may be more of a drain on society financially,
but are less of a drain in pretty much every other way.

I'm absolutely convinced that the likes of Lincoln and Jefferson would
have despised those sorts of people, and Bush for that matter. The
current Republican party is a most unpleasant, freedom-hating, science-
ignoring corruption of what was envisaged.

(Why do you Leftpondians have "euthanize" but not, say, "advertize"?)

Perhaps they won't do it voluntarily. Maybe we should use the word
"dismiss." (I hate to use the word "firing squad.)

The "US and A" is a

The problem with the homeless is not only financial but also social.
Who would care to go to a library or park while they enjoy literature
or the great outdoors?

We better fix the problem, I say.

I like that you use the word freedom, which is the "real thing," not
the democracy mantra they repeat everyday.

Why the fuck don't the manufacturers of electronic devices provide adequate
hard copy documentation of their products? So I got this new printer and
there was no place to plug in the power and USB cords on the product.
Luckily, my significant other showed me that I had laid the printer down on
the table incorrectly and I was trying to find receptacles on the bottom of
the printer rather than the back. But then the damn thing wouldn't work
when he and I finally set it down properly. There was a piece of orange
plastic deep inside the cavity where the drum resides and this needed to be
removed.

The user manual said nothing about any of this. It was written in Vietnam,
probably by a former Viet Cong for all I know.

Probably because people don't read it :-( When there IS a little
brochure it's always of the 'quick start' variety, with the real manual
(such as it is) on either a CD or the manufacturer's website.

Definitely should have been an instruction about that.

Because its so trivial to get it in hard copy form if you are that much of a dinosaur.

I prefer electronic manuals because they are searchable and much cheaper too.

> So I got this new printer and there was no place
> to plug in the power and USB cords on the product.

And the electronic manual would have told you where to plug them in.

And even someone as stupid as you should have realised
that there has to be somewhere to plug power in and you
should have looked that surface you couldnt currently see etc.

> Luckily, my significant other showed me that I had laid the

Thanks for that completely superfluous proof that you actually are that stupid.

Almost all printers have something like that and
usually have a quickstart guide included too.

Even if someone has returned that printer and had keep the quick
start guide, you could have downloaded that if you actually had a clue.

> The user manual said nothing about any of this.

Bet the quick start guide does.

Which printer is it exactly ?

> It was written in Vietnam, probably by a former Viet Cong for all I know.

Yeah, yeah, its all a plot shaft every american they can.

Very easy when they are as stupid as you.

And still draw the right lessons...

http://www.magictails.com/abydos/images/egyptian_statues/large/egyptian_statue_sphinx_sml_04.jpg

The lion ruled ancient Egypt and wasted the resources of the common
people in pyramids and luxuries. It still does engage in
eccentricities and keeps the "lion's share" while the little people
try to survive.

Actually this happens everywhere, but in some places is too much to
bear. Luckily the Egyptians broke the curse of the pharaohs and show
the world that FREEDOM is more sacred than anything.

By the way, anyone knows why they put a pyramid in the mighty dollar
bill?

And I let the tech talk me into a new PC. Bad move; it has Windows 7. For
one thing, programs are lost. This never happened when I went from 98 to
XP. Oh sweet mother of mercy, how I miss XP. Also, the tech failed to
save my music from the old Win player. You can't get those songs now; it's
illegal. But worst of all, it's a bitch to download Flash. Windows 7
comes with two IEs: a 64-bit default and a 32-bit. The 64-bit will not
accept Flash. So I have to use 32-bit to get the latest Flash.

Sometimes I do the dumbest things.

Windows 7 is quite good, I don't know why you are complaining. Just
because the machine only came with IE, there is no reason why you cannot
install Firefox or Chorne or Safari or whatever browser you want. I
understand there is a beta of Flash for 64-bit IE, but it's not that big
a deal to just run 32-bit IE if you really want to have IE.

As for your music, I have no idea what is illegal about getting the old
ones. Had you downloaded them illegally and not you can't get them
again? Do you still have the old machine and old drive? Did you ask the
tech to recover them for you?

Also, you likely did not lose programs when you went from 98 to XP
because you stayed with the same machine, not because of the OS switch.

My hard drive, printer, and stand alone copier went down.

Right at Income Tax time.

I've already detailed my travails regarding the PC and printer, and now for
the copier.

I paid $16 to an online support group-- JustAnswers.com -- to help me
solve the problem. The tech said that the drum should be cleaned. That's
nice but could you give me a little more detail. The tech said to take it
to the shop.

WOW! $16 for that advice. I'm in the wrong business. Maybe I could
become an online "expert" and tell people to take their problems to a
professional. Any fucking body could give that kind of advice.

If someone did, call the cops.

February 6th is income tax time? Not for most people.

And if you'd learn to post in the correct newsgroups (like something
computer-related), you would be able to get some valuable advice for
free. You also might have considered contacting the manufacturer on
their website, they probably would have helped you for free.
