I am in field service and drive a lot.....
 
I have been towed a 100 miles on more than one occasion, AAA for 40 years, and am pleased with it. Maps, tour books, towing, key that broke off in lock:( ocked out of vehicle. Ran out of gas a few times. 40 years is a long time, wierd things come up.
 
AAA guarantees I can always get home:)

I don't see the connection between flexing and blowouts. Of course
a sidewall is going to flex more. Hit a bump in the road, it flexes.
Cornering it flexes. The sidewall carry the load of the car, the treads
do not.

On radial tires all the pressure is on the sidewals. If you blow a plug on a sidewall all the air will rush out, instant flat, and at 60MPH that could pose a problem. In the tread a blown plug and the air will come out, just not all at once.

You can't repair, or at least you're not supposed to repair,
a sidewall leak and IDK any
shop that would do it, so what the canned stuff does regarding
the future of the tire would seem to be a moot point.

An alternative is a standard puncture repair kit, a spray bottle of dish
soap/water, and a 12 volt mini air compressor. That type of fix is generally
considered permanent.

I have auto insurance with Allstate. They have a roadside assistance
service that allows you to register your vehicles and a credit card
and then you can call a central number to get basic assistance like a
tow, flat repair, lockout, etc. There is no regular membership fee or
extra fee on the insurance bill, only the cost of the service call
when you use it, which is charged to the card on file. The rates are
negotiated and fixed for defined services (I think it is like $100 for
a tow up to XX miles, $50 for a lockout, etc.). I've only used it
once, for a tow, and it worked fine. Great for the kids' cars while
they are away at college. No maps or other frills like some of the
plans.
 
Maybe other insurance providers have a similar plan.

Long ago I was with a friend when he had a flat tire while we were eating
lunch. He used one of the flat tire repair cans to repair and reinflate the
tire. Worked like a charm. However, I've heard that once this is used the
tire is very difficult to repair, if required, in the future. If you've
tried it, what has been your experience? I'm too old at 80 to mount the
spare if I can possibly avoid it. AAA and other insurance is rather
expensive for such a seldom occurance.

if the can can inflate it, great
but I would go directly to have it fixed
 
I keep one in my trunk
 
one experience, with a run over nail sticking out of a tire,
not flat yet; used the can contents, pulled the nail,
and was able to make it to the tire shop,
but this wasn't yet totally flat

If you use this stuff make sure you drive for a while (not sure how far,
but a few miles isn't enough -- if it doesn't have time to distribute
itself evenly within the tire the huge glob will forever throw it out of
balance and you'll have to replace the tire. Or so I was told by the
friend it happened to. I don't see why it wouldn't be possible to gouge
the blob out and re-balance the tire, but still...
 
Basic AAA is pretty cheap.

I found them much later in a place I thought I had searched. I keep
meaning to give them to the tire store in case they can be used on some
other hapless soul's wheels. I KNEW I'd seen the damn 'key', I just
couldn't remember where.
 
The car is a 1988 and has a few issues -- like the computer that tries
to kill me every once in a while. It's worth the relatively small price
to know that I can get a tow home (or to the one reliable repairguy I
know) from anywhere I'm likely to be -- including skiing.

Useless things. What kind of idiot steals the wheels (or wheel covers)
from a 10-year-old Eldorado?

$90/year for 4 tows of 100 miles each. Last time I asked one of the AAA
drivers (maybe 5 years ago) it was $7/mile. I had to have it towed a
little over a year ago when a sidewall blew out and I couldn't find the

Abbiam perso quasi tutti tra il 70 e il 100 per cento dei nostri investimenti. E quando gli telefonavamo per chiedere semplicemente che fare, mentre il mercato saliva rapidissimamente, dal Marzo 2009 in avanti, egli, se non meglio dire, "esso", come un vile ratto, scappava. Si faceva sempre negare al telefono. Mandavamo e mails, nessuna risposta. Mi ha bruciato 700.000 euro. Tutto quello che avevo. Ma a tanti altri ha bruciato 1, 2, 3, 5, 7, 10 milioni di euro. Facendo comprare il gas naturale a 5$ e passa, che in poche settimane crollava a 1,9$. Facendo vendere il Dow Jones a 6900, ossia ai minimi di tanti ultimi anni. Dow Jones che ora quasi vale il doppio. E senza che lui prendesse telefonate, rispondesse ad emails. Senza dare indicazione alcuna a noi clienti terrorizzati! Come uno struzzo che dalla paura e coscienza di essere incapacissimo a livello di fiuto per investimenti, mette la testa sotto la sabbia.

Il verme brucia risparmi di una vita Paolo Barrai oltre ad essere il peggiore consulente per investimenti borsistici o di qualsiasi altro tipo, ove inesorabilmente sbaglia sempre (ha fatto comprare case in Brasile, a Porto Seguro ... ove lo attendono 8 ANNI DI GALERA SE VI CI TORNA, E NE SCRIVERÓ PRESTISSIMO.. dicevo... ha fatto comprare case in Brasile, a Porto Seguro, col real a 2,1 contro l'euro.. e ora son state tutte sequestrate dall'anti mafia Brasiliana, per mega riciclaggio per conto di Cosa Nostra, Camorra e Ndrangheta.. e comunque, il real brasiliano è passato dai massimi di 2,1 contro l'euro, livello di quando il cagnaccio idiota, brucia risparmi di una vita, Paolo Barrai, ha fatto comprare, financo a 3,2 contro euro.. creando perdite economiche immense, in ogni caso, a chi come " un ciuccio ei napule" le avesse con lui acquistate). Ove mai, mai e ri mai ne azzecca mezza! É anche un irresponsabile, arrogante, nazista, razzista, lava soldi mafiosi, codardo, ladro, truffatore, criminale, falsissimo, pedofilo, si, PEDOFILO PAOLO BARRAI (SE NO CHE BERLUSCONES SAREBBE, SCUSATE???)!!!
