Well it's your choice of course, but you can also run programs in a
previous version of windows using program settings. I think you can
change that option in properties section of Vista.

I could kick myself for not purchasing XP from Office Depot when it
was on sale for $30 with a $30 rebate as Vista was coming out. Now you
can find it for about $80 somewhere and even less on Ebay with
supposed valid licenses. Personally, I'd prefer to stay with XP over
Vista because VISTA won't run some of the old printers I use. I have
also run into situations where Vista just doesn't do what it supposed
to do. It's not a crash, just non performance. If they were giving
Vista away for the same price as XP, I'd probably take it though.

Ideal if one is doing it as they get them....which certainly wasn't our
situation at all.

I use the CoinStar only for pennies
since vending machines don't take pennies,
and I choose "donate to Unicef" so there's no fee deducated.
I agree: I've never been credited nickles or dimes when counting pennies.

I no longer have any coins in the car's coin tray
since nearly all toll roads in NY/NJ/CT/PA/MD/VA
take E-Z Pass, but I use coins (particularly dollar coins)
when buying train tickets from the vending machines
and I need quarters for the laundromat.

I stopped keeping change in my car when the city began offering
pre-paid parking cards. They are $20 and $50. You insert them into a
slot on the meter. The stored value is displayed and then it deducts in
increments of 25 cents which is ten minutes in most neighborhoods and 5
minutes or less downtown. I have not had a parking ticket since using
these cards.

I save my coins as a type of savings plan. To me it is painless, just
empty my pockets at the end of the day. I emptied three years of coins
in a CoinStar and let it count the money and I had over $1,500! It
made a nice vacation.

BTW my bank will not cash more than a few dollars worth of coins even
with an account.

There is a bank in the NY-NJ area that lets non-customers use their
counter. Can't remember the name.

I like how Bill Hicks (R.I.P.) put it: if Jesus came back, do you

I work at home and have an unlimited calling plan on my main phone.
When I upgraded to DSL the potential savings onstand alone DSL was so
small that I kept the extra line and use it for my fax.
I use my cell as a call back number and have that number on any
printed material . My main land line has caller ID,call waiting and
three way. Friends know that if ,after 4 rings, they do not me or my
machine it means I am on the phone but know that the called. I also
have the privacy feature that prevents most blocked numbers from
calling me. Every so often I see "private number". I never answer and
they rarely leave a message so I know it is a telemarketer.

People spend money based on how much they think they have, and that
perception is easily manipulated.

In one experiment, 55 shoppers at a supermarket were asked a series of
questions about their wallets. Did they have any library cards? Did
they carry pictures or cash? How many other wallets did they own?

An equal number were asked similar questions about their financial
portfolios. Both groups then went shopping.

The second group of shoppers, who had been asked to think about their
bank accounts and thus had a large reserve of money "cognitively
accessible" to them, spent 36% more than the group who had thought

Same here, have saved literally thousands of dollars, and always wait
at least 4 months before following up.

Call a family meeting. Explain to the children what is happening in
the economy and with your budget. Tell everyone the family will have a
bountiful Christmas but with one big difference: Christmas day will be
delayed until January 25th! Why? To allow gift shopping at deeply
discounted prices! Proceed as follows:

Right now, dispel the "Santa Claus" myth and tell your children the
real truth. If it is your religious persuasion, explain the TRUE
reason for the season. Lay the gift budget out on the table for the
kids. Explain how "less can become more" with after Christmas
discounts.

On December 26th, buy the family Christmas tree and ornaments at a
discount. Or, pick up a tree from the side of the road on trash day
for free. Start your Christmas shopping for gifts and stocking
stuffers. After the New Year, take advantage of inventory reduction
and tax sales.

Celebrate the twelve days of Christmas from January 14th until the
25th. Enjoy the season and the savings one month later than most!

Nah, by then all the crap you bought won't be trendy and cool. Just
quit buying the stuff altogether.
