Yeah-but... How often do people actually sign up for financing
and then pay off the loan in a lump sum?

Not often, but it would be nice to be able to fuck over some asshole
stealership that refused to sell you a car for cash by stiffing them
on their cut of the finance charges.

We've been advised to do it when the manufacturer had financing incentives.

Dealership refusing to sell for cash? Come on! Maybe they'll not sell at the
same price because they're getting a kickback, but in reality they're simply
giving you a piece of the kickback.

I suspect most that park that way do so as a way to protect their
vehicle, which they feel is better than yours. They don't think you
can drive as carefully as they do either. Others may park that way
simply for attention. If they are way out at the back of the parking
lot where lots of empty spaces exist, I have no objection. If they
were out that far, they would not have to park sideways to protect
their vehicle.

Well I always say there might be two possibilities when you see an expensive
car parked in front of a mansion...

1. They are rich because it is an expensive car and house.

2. They are poor because they spent all their money on the expensive car and
house!

I do. The lot might have lots of empty spaces when you arrive, but it
might fill up after you park. Happens every day at places like
Disneyland.

>If they

The irony is that it does not protect their vehicle, but rather
exposes it to additional harm. There are already bitter, jealous
people who will vandalize your car simply because it is nicer than
theirs; if you draw attention to your nice car by arrogantly parking
it in more than one space, you make it even more likely that one of
these disturbed people will victimze you.

Of course, if it is at the 99-cent store, they are rich because they
are cheap! Oh sorry mcf-l, I mean frugal.

That seems like a possibility, but I would have to question why anybody with
enough brains to be frugal/cheap would be dumb enough to invest serious money
in such a car and then park it in a bad neighborhood (yeah, this store IS in a
relatively bad neighborhood) where somebody might key it or pee on it or steal
it. Suppose somebody who knows the owner stole it and then parked it there to
get even with him?

People who look down on the 99-Cents-Only Store are hopeless posers!

Well, this map must be based on statistics, not someone marking a
point at random in the map... HOW THE HELL CAN MIAMI BE AMONG THE BEST
CITIES TO RIDE A BIKE?

And I may grant you that YES! There's quite a few bike lanes and bike
paths out there, but they are never connected. Choose any point in
Miami, say downtown Miami, and try going East or West, North or
South.

My closest path is a mixed path that goes for some mile and a half,
and it makes it quite challenging to avoid hitting dogs and kids
darting into your path. But this same path must have cost over a
million bucks and counting! It has some glaring flaws in design as
well, where the lights (some juicy contract there) blind you at night,
too many, too bright, aiming at your head.

I've been blocked from the local forums where I was addressing those
issues.* They simply don't want to hear about it. So now I'M THROWING
THE SHIT OUT TO THE WORLD...

* A couple of issues were solved, one halfway, possibly due to my
MAKING NOISE. The lights, on the other hand, were being changed the
other day for the same design because they were peeling, not because
they were blinding. Over 1,200 people have read that and still they
couldn't address the issue that affects them! But if go out to walk
your fancy dog for it to do poo-poo, what do you care about cyclists
or skaters!?

So here's the strategy: MAKE NOISE AND THROW THE SHIT!

If these are the best 50, I don't want to see the worst. Key West is
pretty good, but it's such a small location. They don't mean a thing
until all the bike paths in America lead somewhere.

Having grown up in south Florida, I was amazed to see Miami as well.
Hollywood, where I lived was great though with lots of wide roads and of
course the Boardwalk where it was always a fight for bicycle access,
which they finally solved in a pretty good way by separating bicycles
and pedestrians.

Well in Miami you also have to be very careful where you go.

Yes, and the problem with those multi-use paths is that they're used as
an excuse to not make roads that go to the same places safe for
bicycles, or in some cases they are used as alternatives to roads. We
had to fight like crazy to get bicycles allowed on expressways (not
freeways), which are about the safest place to ride. The opposition was
just insane, they got the PTA to come out against it.

Boardwalk, great but crowded. Pedestrians still wander into the path.

But this new one has wavy lines making it impossible to separate
anyone. They even act as a catch for skate wheels. That's one of the
flaws. Besides they allow dogs on it.

The people who don't ride bikes, simply don't care. And those who do
just follow the path assigned to them.

But perhaps it was all a prank about Miami. ;)

I bought a Sleep Cell bag from Costco in size XL.....
dims are 40 inches wide x 90 inches long.

Now I'm wondering if I should get smaller one? Just
get size "large"?

I am man 50 years old 5' 10" tall and 200 lbs. How
should one "size" a sleeping bag for me for car
camping?

I see that large size is something like 34 inch wide 80
inch long.

Bottom line.... which size is best for me? I want room
especially width wise but don't want a bunch of
material and fabric length wise (just more hassle to
pack)

I had no idea bags came 90" long. There's a good bit online about Sleep
Cell, new to me, you should read up. As far as the size, considering
it's a big big mummy, several inches taller than yourself should suffice.

Try out your jumbo bag (bear in mind getting it back in the wrapper). As
always, YMMV. If you do go backpacking, you'll want a completely
different bag anyways. Toting that around is a haul.

Yeah Sleep Cell seems to be a low cost brand but the
bag itself seems well enough made especially for what I
want to do with it which is car and RV camping, staying
at friends house etc. It only cost $30 at Costco!

I decided it would be best for me to get a low cost bag
for that purpose and if I do start backpacking or
something get a separate higher quality bag for that.

I'm sure a bag 80 inches long (and not 90 inches like
current one) would work fine.... but the shorter bags
also have smaller widths.... almost 6 inches
smaller..... and I do need the width!

Costco is very good abt taking anything back... no
problem there!

OK, let's put something spicy as a metaphor. You meet someone like...

http://www.hiphopgalaxy.com/IMG/cache-800x533/tina-grant-sexy-girl-800x533.jpg

And she says, "I'm all yours, but you must f!@# without the condom."
What would you do?

Well, you play it safe and say "no," right?

It's like Climate Change, PLAY IT SAFE & RIDE A BIKE OR SOMETHING!

I hope I made my point. ;)

Like I said, cyclists are a threat to "civilization," so expect tough
opposition and even attacks from the lions of the jungle...

Well, I don't mean appointing Germans to run the healthcare system,
but everything they do seems to please everything I hear from both the
Right and the Left in America!

"Germany has Europe's oldest universal health care system, with
origins dating back to Otto von Bismarck's Social legislation, which
included the Health Insurance Bill of 1883, Accident Insurance Bill of
1884, and Old Age and Disability Insurance Bill of 1889. As mandatory
health insurance, these bills originally applied only to low-income
workers and certain government employees; their coverage, and that of
subsequent legislation gradually expanded to cover virtually the
entire population.[2]

Currently 85% of the population is covered by a basic health insurance
plan provided by statute, which provides a standard level of coverage.
The remainder opt for private health insurance, which frequently
offers additional benefits. According to the World Health
Organization, Germany's health care system was 77% government-funded
and 23% privately funded as of 2004.[3]

The government partially reimburses the costs for low-wage workers,
whose premiums are capped at a predetermined value. Higher wage
workers pay a premium based on their salary. They may also opt for
private insurance, which is generally more expensive"...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Health_in_Germany

***

And while at it, they can help us with the present state of anarchy on
our roads. I hear it's quite fun to drive there! Actually they have
pretty good bike lanes too, so let the "Germanification" begin. (Is
that a word?)
