What do you think? Do you think it would be as easy for someone to take
care of your affairs if you were out of commission from 2000 miles away
as it would be if they were next door? Some things, like doing a financial
transaction online, it might not matter. But if it's entering your home,
getting into your safe deposit box, taking some legal action on your behalf,
then it matters a lot.

But if the close person is not trustworthy, it will matter even more if
they do something you wouldn't want them to do...

There's always the classic Zippo handwarmers:

I have a couple of the refillable ones - a couple ounces of lighter
fluid and they stay warm all day. (No experience with the rechargable
electric ones.)

I love Zippo. Using a zippo lighter is a good reason to start smoking
again. When the hinge broke I sent it back. They sent it back with the
old case with a repaired hinge and new guts and a little homily about
living a good life or something.

The single-use ones go on the back of your hand, which doesn't seem
useful. At least I assume that's how they work, my current ski gloves
have a little zipper pocket on the back.

Yes - the quartz-type work very well for heating small areas. 400w (one
bar) keeps me warm at my computer desk. Not so good for space heating
(basically, what they light they heat) and the 'bulbs' blow after a
while. Just had one go after maybe 1000 hours, and they don't look to be
user replaceable. Mind, there's 2 left :-)
