I may be poor and proud of it but I don't want to be crippled by a
reckless driver, which is part of the norm. Worse, the more angry I
get the more shit I will throw at this Banana Republic, and we all
know EVERYTHING IS FAKE, right?
"The major problem with representative democracies is that voter
apathy is more common than political interest."

Luckily I have more than one path out of the jungle, and so WALKING
and CANOEING would be the way. My bag of shit will probably be spared
for other areas of interest.

The party of, "I've got mine, screw you".
It's all about fear of what might happen to them, rather than what has
happened to this country under their watch.
I see Repubs lathered up over 9.7% unemployment. Not considering for
a moment that under 8 years of W very few jobs were added (less 20K a
month, in a country that needs 100K+ to keep up with population growth).

It's all a facade or a BIG SHOW, if you will...
(Don't you feel like a puppet, sometimes?) ;)
Popular rule as a facade
"The 20th Century Italian thinkers Pareto and Mosca (independently)
argued that democracy was illusory, and served only to mask the
reality of elite rule. Indeed, they argued that elite oligarchy is the
unbendable law of human nature, due largely to the apathy and division
of the masses (as opposed to the drive, initiative and unity of the
elites), and that democratic institutions would do no more than shift
the exercise of power from oppression to manipulation."

Which, of course, must be exported to other tyrannical places such as
Iraq so they must part of the "game" too.
I was reading around about "elites," "democracy," etc, but basically
I'd round it up in these simple terms:
"The lions come in different colors and flavors, but they all rule the
jungle."
The sheep will always vote for the establishment (99% of them in the
former USSR), but liberal democracies allow for the monkeys (the Black
Sheep if you will) to MAKE NOISE, and they better make a lot of it so
the lions get the bad PR. Then the lions say, "Hey, we better listen
to these monkeys or else we risk our image." They do hate the image of
being a Hungry Lion, you know.
Any change needs BIG NOISE, COORDINATION AND SOLIDARITY, not unlike...

The "mystery" may be easily be solved if you follow the track of the
fox... I mean who has the most to lose from the predation game. Our
bloated, bureaucratic, monopolistic Medical Industry eats 15% of the
GDP and yet doesn't cover all or guarantee anything.
And the fox's game is to tell the sheep that any attempt to reform is
socialistic in nature. ;)

No, nothing is cheap except gasoline. Hey, perhaps we can tax the
stupid gasoline and pay for healthcare.

I think we live in a post ideological world: YOU EITHER HAVE MONEY OR
YOU DON'T.
The problem is further complicated when those who don't, find their
freedom threatened in a fundamental way, like enjoying the community
on foot or bicycle, where those who can afford it live in gated
communities.
In other words, we are going slowly but surely back to feudalism. A
knight could come out of the blue and take away your life and your
horse.

There's people who thrive in that jungle, and there's people who die
in that jungle, and there's people who simply survive in that jungle.
Some fall due to bad luck (hey, globalization is tough), some due to
illness, and there's no nothing you can do but it but to expect the
"miracle" of medical care. Perhaps they die and get it over with,
while the vast majority barely survives fearing illness or lay off.
That's life in the jungle, but in the end we all die, even the
vultures that most benefit from it.

Well, despite those negative trends there's one and only hope: the
Internet. Same freedom allows to listen to the music we want without
screeching commercials, or listen to the news we trust, also allow us
to MAKE NOISE and be heard by someone out there.
That's why we are here, right?

Like I said, we should break all walls, but curiously the walls are
getting to Germany instead of going down elsewhere. I find it
disgusting and very communist...
(obviously this guy is a communist agent or an American developer)
Gated communities: the privatisation of residential areas should be
welcomed
'Arcadia Potsdam is Germany's first gated community.
When Arcadia opened in 2006, it provoked sharp media criticism. The
Süddeutsche Zeitung daily, for example, spoke of "class-segregation",
"residential disintegration" and the "privatisation of public living
space". The critics argued that gated communities were a symptom of
increasing social polarisation and fragmentation.
These critics assumed that gated communities in Western countries
would be essentially the same as those in Rio de Janeiro or
Johannesburg. But had they examined the well-developed American market
for privately-owned residential areas, they might have noticed that
people's motivations to choose this way of living are, in fact, very
diverse.'

But as U.S. homeowners will soon remember, it's one thing to WIN a
lawsuit ... it's quite another to COLLECT!
As we Yellah-Horders say, "Rots o' ruck!"

"Drywall victims win suit"
BY NIRVI SHAH
A FEDERAL JUDGE in Louisiana has ruled that a Chinese drywall
manufacturer must pay seven Virginia families about $2.6 million in
damages because the company's product corroded metals in their homes,
caused a sulfuric stench and led to breathing problems.
Thursday's ruling could pave the way for similar rulings for thousands
of cases -- many involving Florida homeowners -- now before the same
judge.
It was the first federal ruling for damages in a drywall case.
Thousands of homeowners nationwide, most of whom live in Florida and
Louisiana, have filed complaints about situations similar to those in
Virginia. Many of the lawsuits against drywall manufacturers have been
filed in federal court and all of the cases were consolidated in
Louisiana. U.S. District Judge Eldon Fallon also issued rules about
how homes with the toxic product must be repaired.
The manufacturer named in this suit, Taishan Gypsum Co., has not
responded to U.S. court proceedings, however.
``This is a legal determination of who's at fault in the drywall
mess,'' said U.S. Sen. Bill Nelson, D-Fla., who helped start an
investigation of imported drywall. ``Now homeowners have somebody to
put in their sights. Meantime, I'm going to keep pushing our
government hard to step up the pressure on the Chinese to get the
companies over there to pay up.''
Fallon said in his ruling that Taishan asked the American company that
ordered the drywall to remove a clause from its contract requiring
that it meet American standards for the product.
The ruling also included guidelines on what must be done to fix a home
built with problem wallboard.
The judge ruled that all of the drywall from these homes, even if some
of it was not manufactured in China, along with electrical components,
sprinklers and gas lines, air conditioners, carpeting, wood flooring,
cabinets, countertops, moldings, bathroom fixtures and insulation,
among other items, must be replaced.
Homes would have to be aired out for up to a month, cleaned with HEPA
vacuum or power washed. And families are entitled to payment for the
four to six months they have to leave their houses while repairs are
made, the ruling said.
His recommendations are similar to those issued by the Consumer
Product Safety Commission and Department of Housing and Urban
Development last week but go a bit further.
``While the ruling is not binding on anyone other than the parties to
the Germano case, it is certainly persuasive to other judges and
presumably Judge Fallon will rule similarly in other cases,'' said
Allison Grant, a Boca Raton attorney representing many affected
homeowners.

Most people don't realize that they spend hundreds or even thousands of
dollars a year buying the heavily advertised (HA) brand products in the
grocery and department stores. There is nothing in the grocery or
department stores that is rocket science. Many of the less advertised (LA)
brands or store brands are just as good or better compared to the HA
brands. You are paying for the brainwashing that many HA brand
manufacturers put in their advertising campaigns. It is not difficult to
make shampoos, conditioners, cleaning products and all those other products
that can be found in your local grocery or department store. Why are you
paying 4+ dollars for baby shampoo when you can buy the less advertised
brand for half the money? Do you like wasting money? If the HA brand
products are better why would companies be spending billions of dollars in
advertising? The answer is that they are not better. They are trying to
convince you that the high price they are charging is some how justified by
a better product. If they were better they would not need to do the massive
advertising; social networking would sell the product. Many times they are
using terminology that means nothing. Even over the counter drugs like
aspirin can be bought for half the price of the HA brands. This is a
product that has been around for decades. The LA products are under the
same FDA regulations as the HA brands. Save a lot of money and don't buy
the over priced HA brands.
When you pay the higher price for the HA brands you are paying for the
ridiculous high salaries of the CEO's, private jets, golden parachutes and
for the billions spent on advertising.
Every time you go to the store you can save several dollars. Over time this
can amount to a significant amount of money.

Him and 96 others died in a plane crash while traveling to mark the
70th anniversary of the killing of thousands of Polish officers in

Is God trying to show his bias for Stalinism or just showing that it's
a bad idea to fly in bad weather? Whatever it is, I will try to stay
away from dangerous activities for a while.

We are in the process of renewing our home equity line of credit. Today in
the mail we got notice of our credit score. The letter said that credit
scores range between 300 to 850, then stated that our score was 00874. What
kind of a number is that? It has two zeros to start with and doesn't fall
within the credit score ranges. Does anyone know about these things?

Did this come from one of the 3 credit score companies (Experian, etc.) or
was this some random advert from a marketing company? And receiving it in
the mail (not online) when you're in the midst of refinancing sounds fishy.
If the letter states (correctly) that "credit scores are between 350 and
850" then, obviously, a score of "00874" is completely bogus. Did you check
out the return address. Who sent this to you? From whom did you request your
credit score? If you didn't request it, then it's most likely some sort of
bogus marketing/scam.
