Be forewarned. Several years ago Verizon Wireless charged me their
then-standard $1.25 directory assistance charge for calls to 555-TELL. I
complained quite loudly. I don't know whether that played into their decision
to stop the practice.

See, the problem is this. Dial 411 from a Verizon cell phone and they
incur real costs. I know this because there is a Verizon 411 call
center across the street from my house, a big campus where they
employ tons of people (and they're always hiring operators here). So
I don't have a problem paying for 411 or 555-1212 which is going to be
answered by a Verizon employee; I don't expect them to pay for the
facility and people and not make their money back.

But they incur no such costs on calls to 800-555-TELL, other than the cost
of connecting the call. I'm willing to pay airtime, but not the $1.25. They
don't even incur long distance costs as the long distance is paid for by AT&T
(the company that owns TellMe)!

Verizon stopped this obnoxious, greedy practice a few years ago, but you will
want to check your bill to make sure your carrier doesn't do the same thing.

been branded "genocide" by President George W. Bush, already
limit most transactions, though humanitarian aid and
agricultural assistance have been allowed.

But U.S. institutional investors, mutual funds, and Warren
Buffett's Berkshire Hathaway have billions of dollars invested
in companies that operate in -- or have ties to -- Sudan,
particularly the oil business.

Activists have lobbied for investors to dump shares and bonds in
PetroChina Co. Ltd., whose parent company China National
Petroleum Corp. is helping Sudan tap its oil reserves, as well
as India's Oil and Natural Gas Corp. Ltd. and Malaysia's Petronas

"The burgeoning Sudan divestment movement has already
facilitated a response from companies operating in Sudan,
institutional investors and mutual fund managers," said Adam
Sterling, director of the Sudan Divestment Task Force.

He cited 19 U.S. states, nine cities including Los Angeles, and
54 universities that are beginning to divest from Sudan.
Sterling also noted major companies, such as Britain's Rolls-
Royce, have withdrawn.

Some $3.5 billion of foreign direct investment flowed into Sudan
last year, a jump of 53 percent over 2005.

However, after the first quarter of 2006 when almost $1.6
billion entered, investment dropped to below $700 million in
each of the next three quarters, according to International
Monetary Fund figures.

International experts estimate some 200,000 people have been
killed in Darfur and another 2.5 million have been driven from
their homes since violence erupted in 2003, prompting Bush to
label it "genocide," a term other countries have avoided.

You may want to revisit Verizon. They now have an unlimited nationwide
calling plan for, in theory, a flat rate with no extra charges.

Keep in mind that some companies require you to buy other services in
order to get an unlimited call plan. I pay $35 for IDT which includes
caller ID, three way and the bundle of features. AT&T had to but other
features which made it closer to $45.

Gmail. Can I get a second account from either? I don't see anything about
this on my sign-in screens. I don't unederstand what Hotmail provides -
their sign-in site confuses me. Yahoo? AOL?

Preferably one that doesn't want a bunch of personal info which is liable
to result in lots of spam, telemarketing and USPS junk mail.

Last time I checked, the Equate brand at Chinamart is almost identical,
at half the price.

Only B-12 is 400%, probably due to the fact that it's difficult to
absorb as you get older, from food, too.

In almost all these one-a-day formulations they use the cheapest, least
absorbable form, mostly synthetic. Only a small pct is a actually used
by the body.
